I heard recently on the news that Morphett Vale High School is to close at the end of the year, this being the venue where the Lions are based and play their games from. Has the club been given any word on whether or not the oval and club will be able to stay when the old site is disposed of by the State Government?

I know the land has been sold, but from what I have been told, the club still has an agreement on the oval till the end of next year.... But don't quote me on it....

Is the oval actually part of the school grounds? I don't see how the club would be able to hold a liquor licence otherwise.

The land the school is on hasn't been sold. With the school closure it will revert to either local or federal government control, that part isn't known yet. OSB/Lonsdale's lease is solid and will run until 2015.

That's seven more seasons
If the legal lease is as solid as that you'd think even the government couldn't get them off.
You never know, they could even end up with a government sponsored shift to a better ground with decent facilities, if they want the Lions off the patch badly enough !!!
Get those juniors going Lions --- you might have a future after all !!
