Who Will Make 8th Spot

Postby pale ale » Thu Jan 15, 2009 11:03 am

Its fair to say that H/Valley, M/Vale, Townies, Brighton, Winies, Porties, Cove would all make the Top 7 so which one of the bottom 8 teams will make 8th spot in 09.

All of these clubs will be talking about finals but with Townies coming in an easy draw like Lonsdale has had over the years wont get you in.
My tip will be between Shoes and Flaggies

Maybe Marion if their 'aged' recruits last the distance???

Hard to assess though because at this time of the year every club is "flying" whether it's @ AFL, SANFL or SFL level... PB's running, guys have lost kgs / skinfolds, training harder than ever, better lists, youngsters have developed, players returning... etc etc etc

Only teams i would put in the top eight would be Cove, M/Vale, Brighton and Edwardstown. I think the othe four spots are up for grabs and you may find one of the other big three may miss out.

Top 7 all stitched up already hey - probably the reason why there might be more than one upset out of that - I think the way the draw is you might find 6 teams fighting for the last 3 spots in the eight - could be closer than what every one thinks - analyse the draw closely and I think it could get very interesting towards the end of the year - my opinion anyway - a few clubs in the SFL do rate themselves highly an I think that is why they have failed continually in the past years when it does not go their way - time will tell I guess.

no problems mate. you guys have come along way and been well managed player wise. i just hope people can see past the hackham name and get on board so we can follow suit and even up the comp in 3-5 instead of 7-10 years. but got good juniors coming through so signs are good.

The SFL is like the EPL.. does not change much from year to year. Those top sides will just swap places with the odd team loosing the plot or having a great year.
So I think you can bank on last years top 8 being close to the same adding in EFC, Marion and dropping M/Ville parks, Flaggies. Bad luck Shoes..close to the mark.

I love how were all so knowledgable 10 weeks away from the season.

In an Aldinga point of view we are prepared to do what ever it takes to ensure LONG term success not just in the immediate future so we are building and are realistic about how good the SFL is and how competetive the sides are. In saying that we look to rattle a few cages but also to improve on previous years, no more mediocrity.
