If you have Fox have a look at "Bob" episode this week, he chats with Ryan Fitzgerald and there are a number of references to his SFL days which was quite entertaining, worth a look.

Chatting with some Aldinga supporters Saturday. Mentioned club starting to talk about going to another league but just debating Amateurs or GSFL.
Can the SFL survive with 8 clubs?

Surely the GSFL would not be an option. Why would they take Aldinga with their current number of teams and fixture?

Doubt they would go to Amateurs after their President came out in the paper and bagged Lonsdale and Marion for going to a weaker league.
Have heard whispers of Yank and Myponga looking at merging which could open up a spot in their preferred 10 team comp. Unless the Shoes beat them to it.

All clubs signed up to a 2 year affiliation agreement at the end of last year. No clubs will be allowed to join another league in 2019 unless the SFL agrees.

GSFL have always been very happy with their current setup- everyone plays each other twice and no byes. Very much doubt that will change any time soon.

I think they can, Aldinga wouldn’t be the difference between the league surviving or not I wouldn’t think.

Is that A grade score between Flaggies and Reynella correct? Has Reynella ever been held goalless in the A’s before?

Yep, made for quite an entertaining day :D . Not sure what is going on as they were quite good against us early in the year.

My last personal involvement with the U12 carnival and it was a really well run day, spoke with the umpires co-ordinator at the end and apart from a couple of spot fires is was a quiet day for them.

Only 4 clubs represented in the finals which would be a bit disappointing for the league - 3 Porties, 2 Reynella, 2 Flaggies and Aldinga.

One of the Reynella teams taking it out.

Not surprising considering 47% of all SFL U/12s play at Port Noarlunga, Reynella or Flagstaff Hill, they have set themselves up very well in recent years.

I believe a number of parents are not happy that during the under 12 carnival their kids missed out so that kids that had played under 13 all year played in the 12 carnival at the expense of their kids who had played under 12 all year !

good luck getting them parents back.

Which club?

We didn't play 5 kids who have been playing u13's all year cause of this issue specifically.

This is another issue with the ridiculous 13/15/17.5 junior set up, should have never been agreed to in the first place, time to go back to 14/16/18.

Might not make sense at local level, but isn’t it to bring the age groups into line statewide?? Was that the reason for the change?? The old CFB getting to push their weight around??

Rubbish, one of the best things we ever did.

We have not been split up once on a Saturday this year, all clubs have a full set (except for one team in the 17.5s), less behavioral issue as the older kids are now playing senior football whilst also providing a larger pool of players in the oldest age group.

The mistake was not changing the Minis to be inline (ie U/11, U/9 & U/7)

I believe the GF had quite a few in both teams. A Reynella parent I spoke to wasn't at all pleased with what her club had done to strengthen the winning side. A Porties kid was bragging out on the field that they had 12 Under 13's playing. Can't believe everything you hear though. They were all under 12 age but is it in the spirit of the carnival?
