FLAGSTAFF HILL FC are looking for help please.

1. FHFC and Goodwood Saints have a trial Saturday March 18, but have not been able to secure an oval for the day (cricket still has rights at the hill). If your club has a free oval on March 18 and are willing to help these two clubs, it would be greatly appreciated. It is a full day of trials including juniors and seniors, so we would be looking to use the oval from 8am-5pm.

2. FHFC had a trial locked in with Blackwood for all grades on April 1, but due to a change in the HFL fixture, Blackwood are no longer available. If you are still looking for a trial for your club on this day, please let us know.

If you can help out with an oval on March 18, or are after a trial on April 1, please contact FHFC's Senior Football Director, Bill Matheson, on 0427 161 544 or BMatheson@sipcam.com.au

ANZAC ROUND - Sunday, 23rd April
The weekend after Easter we have arguably the biggest minor round game ever at Flagstaff Hill...and it's on SUNDAY.

All Saturday grades will play on Sunday 23rd April. The A Grade will play in the featured game of the Anzac Day round in a grand final replay against Morphett Vale.

The victorious Team will be presented with the Malpas Shield and a player who epitomises the Anzac spirit will be honoured with the Malpas Medal after the game. The medal and shield are named after a Captain Malpas who was an ex-SFL President who won the Military Medal during World War 1. It will be presented by a representative of the Malpas family.

There will be a full Anzac Day Ceremony prior to the A Grade game around 2.30pm conducted by the president of the Marion RSL Trevor Chapman.

A huge crowd is expected on this special day, with not only Falcon and Emu supporters present but being on the Sunday, many from across the local footy community will be coming to watch the 2016 SFL Premiers in action. It will be the biggest crowd the FHFC has ever hosted.

Lock the date in your calendar now and be there on Sunday 23rd April to see your Falcons play at home for the first time in 2017 and for your chance to see the 2016 premiership flag.

Surely the Flagstaff Hill Football Club would be considering a potential move to the Hills Football League given the state of the SFL and the fact it is likely to get worse. I'd imagine approaching the HFL would only be due diligence.

Well done to the A grade, solid effort, back to back and sitting pretty for 2018 I would of thought.

We turn to the elephant in the room now...... Has Middy told the group he's off to South next year?
couldn't blame him if so, a great opportunity.

CALLING ALL FALCONS – PAST & PRESENT

This Saturday, 12 May, at 2.20pm, our Club Vice-Captain, Life Member and 2-time A Grade Premiership Player, David Kearsley, will run onto the ground for his 200th A Grade game.

This is a massive achievement, one that has only been reached by a dozen or so Falcons before him, and we urge everyone associated with the FHFC to get out and support Kears in his milestone game.

It doesn’t matter if you played one or two junior games with him in 2003 or a B Grade game in 2013 or all of your A Grade footy with him or watched him over the years from the Hill or are new to the club in the Subbies or Juniors, this is a man that has done plenty for our club and deserves a big crowd for his big game.

Much will be made of DK’s list of achievements with, and contributions to, the Flagstaff Hill Football Club later in the week and on the day, but in the meantime, make sure you free up your Saturday afternoon and be at the club from 2pm to watch the A Grade take on Cove.

Congratulations Kears and all the best for Saturday.

Wade Stone...sponsored by Cellarbrations at Flagstaff Hill played his 450th Senior game in the last C Grade game against Hackham

Stoney has long held the Club record for most Senior games with the second highest a long, long way back and has now clocked up yet another milestone with 450 Senior games. Bloody amazing!

As Coach of the Cs and only a part time player these days the plan was to have Stoney play his 450th at Flagstaff Hill in front of his home crowd. But the Cs were short on players in the last game and rather than allow that to happen Stoney put his team first as he has been doing for almost 30 years and 450 games and unexpectedly played his 450th in front of a small Hackham crowd and the limited C Grade bench ...but most importantly alongside his team mates, especially his great mate and fellow Life Member and premiership player Paul Petrov.

Apart from 450 games, Stoney has been an A and B Grade captain, been a B Grade B&F winner, coached the C Grade for 7 years including a premiership, was on the committee for 9 years, received Life Membership, used up 17,350 kilometres of strapping tape and bled red and blue on the field for his Club and his Team mates more times than anyone cares to remember. He is the ultimate Club man.

Well Done Stoney!!

FHFC Past Players & Life Members Day – Saturday 21 July

Calling all Past Falcons & BushPigs and FHFC Life Members.

If there is one home game this year you get to, make it this one.

Our A Grade take on the Cockledivers in a finals-shaping match and there are two significant milestones on the day too.

Be sure to be at the ground by 12.30 as our B Grade will include brothers and Life Members, Saul and Kane Abbott, who will run out for their 300th and 250th Club Games respectively.

There will be marquees set up on the hill, the BBQ fired up, raffles to be won and a $4 Beer Special at the Bar.

That’s right, $4 beers throughout the afternoon.

Lock the date in the diary now, get the old Red & Blue gear out of the cupboard and drag some ex-teammates along to support your club.

And look to make a day and night of it as we have the boys from CaroCLUB preparing and serving meals that night…..

CaroCLUB

Come and join us for dinner on Saturday 21 July from 5.30pm following our home game against Port Noarlunga, with the boys from CAROclub cooking up a storm. The Boys have confirmed the menu is as follows:
Pork Roll - $15
Low n Slow smoked pork shoulder, mixed pickles, cheese & Smokey BBQ sauce. Served with hot chips.
Fried Chicken Burger - $16
Crispy fried buttermilk chicken, lettuce, cheese, pickle mayo and hot sauce. Served with hot chips
Chili Con Carne Loaded Fries - $15
Slow braised beef chili con carne, cheese, sour cream, slaw, jalapeños, chipotle mayo on hot chips

There's a huge FHFC milestone this week...

Paul Petrov...sponsored by Charlesworth Nuts plays his 300th Senior game

Paul Petrov becomes just the 5th Falcon to reach 300 Senior Games with a combination of 74 A Grade, 70 B Grade and 155 C Grade Games. He joins Wade Stone, Darryl Rowe, Doug Degenhardt and Andrew Heatley in the 300 Club.

Not surprisingly Paul (simply known as Petrov) is a Life Member of our Club, is a C Grade Premiership player and is one of the most passionate Falcons, alongside his great mate Stoney, to ever pull on the red and blue Guernsey. He is as tough and hard and loyal as they come.

He deserves a huge crowd so whatever your involvement with our Club...past or present...Senior, Junior or Sub Junior... please make every effort to be there this Sunday to cheer on a great Clubman.

FHFC MILESTONE

Today mark's a special day in our club's young history with A Grade Captain David Kearsley running out for his 350th Club Game, becoming only the third player in our 58 year history to do so.

Having started in our U/14's in 2002 (with many unoffical subbies games in the years prior to this), Kears has played:
245 A Grade Games (#246 today and yes another very impressive milestone is just around the corner)
9 B Grade
1 C Grade
94 Junior Games

He has kicked 321 Goals for the club, including one season as the Leading A Grade Goalkicker.

He is a 5 time A Grade Premiership Player, including 2 as captain, and has a B Grade and 2 Junior Premierships to go with it.

He is a 2 time A Grade Best & Fairest Winner, Junior Best & Fairest Winner, and a member of both the Senior and Junior FHFC Teams of Decade (2000-2009).

He became a SFL Life Member in 2015 and the 66th FHFC Life Member in 2016.

He has an equally impressive list of off field contributions to our club for which we thank him for.

It is fair to say that he is a great, if not the greatest, of the Flagstaff Hill Football Club.

Congratulations Kears from all at the Falcons, have a great day.

(Falcons - let's get as many down to Bice Oval at 2.30pm this afternoon as possible to show the support and thanks that Kears deserves)

FHFC MILESTONE – 250 A GRADE GAMES

After recently starring in his 350th club game, our A Grade Co-Captain, David Kearsley, reaches an even more impressive milestone tomorrow when he runs out for his 250th A GRADE GAME for the Flagstaff Hill Football Club.

This takes him in to rare air, becoming only the second player to reach the milestone for the club; and he is fast closing in on Doug Degenhardt’s club record 260 A Grade Games.

Since debuting as a 17 year old in 2006, Kears has achieved the following in his A Grade career:

5 time A Grade Premiership Player (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020)
A Grade Captain (2019*, 2020*, 2021)
2 time A Grade Best & Fairest (2009 & 2020*)
3 time A Grade B&F Runner-Up (2010, 2018*, 2019*)
James Warren Medal 2020 (SFL Grand Final Best on Ground)
A Grade Best Finals Player 2014
2 time A Grade Best Team Man (2015 & 2017*)
A Grade Best Team Man in Finals 2016*
311 A Grade Goals
A Grade Leading Goalkicker 2014 (58 Goals)
5 time SFL Association representative
1 time Southern Districts representative
FHFC Life Member 2016
SFL Life Member 2015
*denotes premiership year

An already amazing career for a man that has done just as much for our club off the field as he has done on it (which is clearly plenty from the list above) and there is still much more to come.

We ask that all Falcons, and Bushpigs of old, get down to Morphett Vale at 2.20pm tomorrow to cheer Kears on to the oval for this significant moment, for him and the club, and stay to watch him give it his all for the 250th time.

Congratulations and Good Luck Kears – truly one of the best the Falcons have, and ever will, see.

• 2013 B Grade Most Consistent

• 2016 A Grade Premiership Player

• FHFC Life Member

• Member of 2000 - 2009 FHFC Team of the Decade

Congratulations on your milestone Saul! You have been a huge part of the Falcon Family over the past 25 years both on and off the field.

Saul has done so much for this Club over the years so we ask that everyone gets down to Happy Valley F.C on Sunday to see him run out with the C Grade at 12:15pm.

FHFC MILESTONE

Wade Stone - 500 Club Games

After a few false starts, Wade Stone will make history this weekend becoming the first ever player to reach 500 games for the Club.

Stoney started way back in 1988 as part of the Under 18s coached by Jeffrey Browne. After one more season in the 18s he moved up into the Seniors where he has been a mainstay for over 30 years.

All up he has accumulated:

• 27 Junior Games

• 159 A Grade Games

• 132 B Grade Games

• 181 C Grade Games

Some of his accolades include:

• 1992 - C Grade Best & Fairest

• 1993, 1996 & 2008 - B Grade Best & Fairest

• 1997 & 1998 - B Grade Captain

• 2003 to 2006 - A Grade Captain

• 2007 - C Grade Premiership Player

• FHFC Life Member

• SFL Life Member

• Member of 2000 - 2009 FHFC Team of the Decade

He has also coached the C Grade since 2012, collecting a further two Premierships as Coach in 2016 and 2018.

Wade has also coached our Junior teams, served on the committee for 8+ years and is a past winner of the Brett Charlesworth Award as the Club Person of the Year.

The C Grade are playing at home vs Christies Beach on Sunday @ 2:00pm. Wade deserves a huge crowd after a lifetime of dedicated to the Football Club.

Congratulations Stoney on this truly impressive milestone! You are 'Flagstaff Hill' and deserve all the recognition and reward for what you have done for our Football Club.
