Lookout review -
Magic Dirt: Got there just as they ended ?/10
Jebediah: Pity they weren't on later in the day but Kev's Fringe commitments meant they needed to be on early, they were excellent and finished real old school with Jerks & Teflon. 8/10
Veronicas: Everyone was asking WTF they were doing on this line up, but there seemed to be an excellent percentage of female punters in attendance and maybe this was why, despite the backing music and vocals, along with a guitarist who Im not sure was plugged in, they were actually quite entertaining and have some sensational voices and great chemistry on stage. Better than expected 7/10
Spiderbait: Is there a bank in Australia that is more suited to festival lineups than Spiderbait? I think not, they are you classic band that fits well into most line ups, but you probably wouldn't go out of your way to see them on their own. You get everything you expect from them, they play a very straight bat and predicable 6.5/10.
Grinspoon: This is the one that the crowd came for, mosh pits ready to go and didnt disappoint, the next hour of mayhem flew by with the crowd in Phil's hand. Still the best live band in the country. Watching them with my 21yo son who was seeing them for the first time what pretty cool and he can't wait until they return again, pity they weren't the headliner, take off a point because of that 9/10
Jet: Meh, OK, but pretty plain guitar riffs rang out , they tried hard but couldn't really get the crowd into it, some had already seen what they had come for and had left, the party pit on half full. 4/10
Good venue, good space to set up chairs to sit on during the breaks, bar and toilet set ups need improvement and running out of grog (except pink gin) by 8pm wasn't ideal and would have cost them a significant sum. Still a good day out.
