I don't. As long as its a decent tune and doesn't offend my senses, then I can pretty much listen to anything (unless its REALLY drab, like Coldplay, or Jazz or Opera).

I could not give a RATS what that stupid No.1 (thrifty shop) said.

I could not care as I listened to the music and saw the film clip ....turned off instantly.

It was crap and not my thing. (Fine if the hipper crowd "get it")

If that the way music these days is going.....I dont want to know!!! :?

Spot on, Southee.

To me, a song's message is lost on me if the music doesn't catch my attention. I haven't listened to Triple J since they started playing Jet every 5 minutes.

Well, it obviously did something right, as it's the first hip-hop song to poll #1. The production is very tight and the lyrics are thoughtful, which can be said for the whole album. It's probably the most unique hip-hop album of the year, second maybe to Plan B's Ill Manors.

Now THAT is a classic album!

I thought I'd listen to the final stages of the Hottest 100, from 20 down. Was busy through the rest of the day.
I ended up turning off just into the top 10. It felt like it was in a coma. So many drab songs sounding like the bands were awaiting the call up for an ad agency to earn more money from their song. Some people like that stuff.
My missus, a Nova listener, was enjoying most of the tracks more than me.
So, yeah - I'm out of the Triple J cohort, a grumpy old man.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

It's the ultimate contradiction of all time.

A popularity contest on a radio station declaring itself the "enemy of average".

The number one song is always slammed because it was the most popular. It's a classic. The countdown alienates JJJ listeners every year.

The highlight for me was Kevin Rudd's vote for "I Will Wait".

"You hear that Julia? I WILL WAIT! I WILL WAIT!" Haha
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

x2.

If that's the kind of stuff they play on Triple J these days, I'm glad I stopped listening in 2001-02. Gone are the days where I used to turn on the radio as soon as I got home from school and turn it off when I went to bed.

90s Hip Hop is where it's at, N.W.A, Naughty by Nature, Run DMC, playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater got me into them. These days it all about Hilltop Hoods and Bliss N Eso for me.

And Thrift Shop has been going off where I've been out on a Friday/Saturday night the past few weeks.
