I made no comment about Midnight Oil Phil. I was simply replying to your "Who?" comment. Your personal ignorance of the band is not a reason to "rest your case".

For the record I don't mind the Oils at all.

try the Warumpi Band - Christine Anu slaughtered that song disgraceful that SOCOG got her to sing it instead of the original artists

Black Fella White Fella and Stompin Ground- the Warumpi Band
Mainstream - Yothi Yindi

I don't think I've heard the Warumpi version. I'll have to try to give it a listen. But I still like the Anu version - I don't know how she sang it at the Olympics, but the studio version I have of it is great.

It charted in 85-86 as the Warumpi band rode on the wave of being Midnight Oils support act on the diesel and dust tour.

CAAMA radio in Alice still have the CD for sale. My copy was stolen from my brothers house in Woodville West

In the Midnight Oil 20 000 Watt RSL video/DVD collection there is a clip of the Warumpi Band and Midnight Oil in a tinny on Yellow Waters in Kakadu singing an accoustic version of Black Fella White Fella mixed into a live version of Dead Heart filmed whilst on the tour (Papunya I think as they filmed part of the clip for Beds are Burning at Papunya) - in the words of Ritchie himself.....supa stuff that.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Then why did you say - and I quote;
Sounds of Then puts any garbage MO produced to shame.
That's calling Midnight Oil garbage in my book.

I rested my case on the fact that Sounds of Then was not a nationwide hit - so I'm not the only one who's "ignorant". Beds are Burning was a huge hit. And it deserved to be.

Fancy that! He's ignorant of GANGgajang AND ignorant of whom he is quoting! :lol:
