Saw plenty of gigs back in my younger years, but haven't been to that many full-fledged "concerts". Even so, the best 5:

1. The The, Shepherd's Bush, London, 2000
2. Depeche Mode, Thebby theatre, mid-nineties.
3. The Balanescu Quartet, Festival Centre, as part of the Adelaide Festival of Arts, early noughties?
4. Dire Straits, Footy Park, 1986
5. Peter Gabriel, at the first Adelaide WOMAD festival, early nineties.

1. Guns'n'Roses - Calder Park sometime early 90's
2. Metallica BDO - Around 2003 or 4 I spose
3. Pearl Jam - Thebby Oval, 98

Plenty of others that were enjoyable, but those 3 are the distinctly most enjoyable ones I've been to.

This could change by the minute if I think about it long enough but right now I'm thinking, in no particular order...

INXS at the Apollo about 1985 (first show I ever went to)
Portishead at the Thebby a few years back - one of those ones I didn't have high expectations for but it was amazing
Built to Spill at the Corner Hotel in Richmond 2007
Final Hummingbirds gig at Lennies (!), going back stage with the band afterwards - Bliss!
First BDO at Adelaide Uni - awesome and has never been matched for lineup or atmos. Carter USM hurrah!

Seen so many great shows at the Thebby - Pixies, Nick Cave, Pulp, Morrissey, Kylie (!), Oils, Stone Roses... Lots of BDO highlights (New Order, Go Betweens, Rammstein, The Cult, Primal Scream, Breeders, LCD Soundsystem). Also REM in Italy, Ride at the Old Lion, Doves at Heaven and any local gig by the Mandelbrot Set were pretty darn cool.

Worst would probably have to be U2 at Football Park (both times - more because of the scale of it than the band) and Interpol a couple of years ago at Heaven - dire.

Yeah! I dunno, just really enjoyed myself that night.
Great atmosphere, massive bouncing mosh pit. Just remember having heaps of fun.

Agree with you on the first BDO at Adelaide Uni.
Was definitely a great moment when the fire trucks rocked up with the giant shower head. GOLD!

Foo Fighters - Thebby 2006
Powderfinger - Hammersmith Apollo 2007
Crowded House - Glastonbury 2008
Foo Fighters - Wembley 2008
David Gray - Melbourne 2006

I could easily have had Kaiser Chiefs, Chris Isaak, Marilyn Manson, The Zutons, Basement Jaxx, Kings of Leon, Silverchair, The Killers plus many more on the list.

Eric Clapton, Festival Theatre (late '80's, early '90's), awesome show
Pink Floyd, Thebby Oval (mid to late 80's), as above, a tie for the best
Angels, numerous, but Memorial drive (80's) sticks in my mind as a great gig.
Mick Jagger, Thebby Oval , not the stones but still very good (mid to late 80's)
Kiss, Adelaide Oval (1980 I think)
North Adelaide F C : Champions of Aust 1972 : Premiers 1900, 02, 05, 20, 30, 31, 49, 52, 60, 71, 72, 87, 91

Angels - Townsville 1983, we were up front against the stage, awesome
Eric Clapton - Brisbane, early 90's, Tommy Emannual supported
Hunters and Collectors - Brisbane, early 90's
Ben Folds, Ben Lee, Ben Kwellar - Thebby in about 03
a combination of Boston, Cheap Trick and AC/DC in Hawaii in 1984, members of each band got together and jammed, it was awesome stuff

worst would have to be the Motels in Hawaii in 1984, Martha Davis was so off her face

Agreed on U2, for all the hype it was a fairly average concert.

Mine in no particular order.

1) any INXS concert since 85, although the Kick concert in 88 was the standout for me. (havent missed one since!)

2) Robbie Williams - not a big fan but boy, can he put on a show!

3) Lionel Richie - Dont laugh! Great show..

4) Eurythmics

5) Gunners

That was the same tour (Journeyman from memory)I saw them at the festival theatre, what was the kids name that was on before Tommy Emanuel?
When Emanuel and the kid came on stage later with Eric Clapton, the kid was given lead by Clapton and blew the place away, senational concert probably made even better by the acoustics of the festival theatre.

Too many to chose from, however one show which does stand out is the
SEPULTURA/SACRED REICH: 'Chaos A.D. Tour'
at Thebby way back in the early 90's!

I've got the Zooropa FP show on DVD, complete with cringeworthy Cornsey phone call. Much better on TV than being there!
They were fantastic at Memorial Drive in the 80s though, mullets and all.
