I've kept him.

I'm too scared to let him go

Just moved him to the bench....
Hoping for something miraculous and that he returns before expected O:)

I had already planned my trades to move him out because I thought I had 2 other midfielders injured

However, news today is that Hartlett may be OK so now I am rethinking it

Trade. Tell me the last time a club declared a star player would miss x number of games, and he missed less than x? Usually he misses x plus number to be known at a later date. Geelong has declared three in its release, and is currently sitting 5-0 with a reasonable run coming. That's a long time to have 700k not playing for you if he is only missing three in the best cas,e and not more.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

Trade. The Cats won't play him until he is climbing the walls in frustration. Geelong can afford to be very conservative with injured players and have been this way for the past three seasons. Then pick him up when his price drops after a couple of games back in about six or seven weeks just in time for the latter stages of the year.

This poll should read: Who should I trade for Ablett.

What is Hartlett's average? It would need to be better than a 600k midfielder in order for you to win the game. Especially if Hollands has a gun midfield as you say.

I was thinking of taking a risk in Coughlan. Keeping the spare cash, hoping he can maintain 90+ for a month and cashing in on his price rise by the time Ablett returns.

He scored 73 in half a game last week. But it's still a good question. My options are:

1 Keep him, mids = Judd, J Selwood, K Cornes, Rich, Dangerfield, Hartlett (Ablett, Anthony); OR
2 Trade him, mids = Swan/Mitchell, Judd, J Selwood, L Power, Rich (Hartlett, Anthony)

I sure like the look of option 2!

As you say, if someone like Power goes up to $530K then it's only $120K + 1 trade to get Ablett back anyway. I have been comparatively lucky with injuries so far so have a few trades up my sleeve.

Keep him. If your relying on a single player to get you your big score, i'd be looking elsewhere. Most would have a backup midfielder that will get 70-80/game at least, so lossing 40-50 points per round shouldnt be much of an issue this time of year.

Good thinking Quichey. I had him in my original team then traded him out before the season started proper. Get on him before his price goes up he's a bit of a smokey i reckon

Haven't got him. Will wait a couple of weeks after he returns hoping he has a slow start then I'll hopefully bring him in at a price around his original! 8)

moved him to the bench, traded out Richo instead and made Pendlebury the skipper and K Cornes v/c.

Ablett's average is 148.00, so that's 68-78 points you are giving up every week plus the 750k that is sitting in your salary cap and not doing anything. It is the classic case for a trade. I hope my opponents do as you suggest because I'm going to trade for a mid that averages 120 points and pick up a nice head start for as long as Ablett is out. Also, a lot of these 'back up' midfielders are not getting a game like Robinson, or are injured like Anthony or Beams. Dangerfield only averages 63 so you've done well to get a back up midfielder to come on and immediately expect 70 plus points. Coughlan looking better all the time at the moment as he is on the bubble.

Collingwood are playing St Kilda this week so that has scared me off of Davis and Pendulbury. Swan might be the more consistent long term bet even though he has the lesser average at the moment.

I don't think Hartlett will play this week so my decision's made for me.

I have it down to Mitchell, Swan or Murphy. $540K is my limit if I do the Dangerfield - L Power trade at the same time. I like the look of Mitchell. The obvious choice is Bartel however I then miss the opportunity to get Power.

I am looking at it as the Dangerfield upgrade I would have done some time anyway. Then GAJ becomes just another premium upgrade I would have done later in the season anyway.
