Injury nightmares!

Postby Hondo » Tue May 12, 2009 10:32 am

How's your team been hit?

After round 7 I only had Hurley, Hartlett, Jacobs and Anthony injured - all looking OK and book soon

Since then:

- Ablett, 2-3 weeks
- M Brown, hamstring, 3 weeks
- Hodge, 2 weeks
- Rance, 2-3 weeks
- K Cornes, 1-3 weeks
- Fevola, played under injury, may be out?

Now, to cap it all off, my injury replacement for Ablett, Dane Swan, hurt his knee last night :( I know a lot of other popular fantasy players are injured too.

Thing is, they are all short term injuries so thank god I have an easier run of league games coming up.

Injuries are mounting in general this year, or maybe it just seems like that because I'm playing SC ;)

Higgins, K Cornes and Didak (throw in Beams from the bench) could all miss this week for me. I've been holding on to my trades, so I'll be reluctant to use them and may just opt to run the risk of dropping a game this week.

Its been tough..!! I have used up 8 trades which is probably 3 to many at this stage but on the flip side i am pretty happy with my squad and have reasonable depth except for defence and ruck. In all likeliness if i cop a 1-2 week injury in any of those areas then i will most likely cop a 0. Rance is my 7th defender so i have fingers crossed Raines will be his replacement as i have been carrying his brittle knee since round 1.

I have Higgins (groin), Skipworth and Kerr who are injured.

How serious is Dane Swan's injury?

Will Fevola play this week?

I'll hold off until i read the teams in Fridays paper before making any trades.

Im lucky this weekend in that i play the bottom team in both leagues that im in.

Better news from the AFL's injury update for round 8:

- Dane Swan not even listed = phew!
- Hodge, M Brown, Higgins, Hartlett listed as "test"
- Fevola not listed

They probably won't all come up but I feel better about it than I did this morning!

PS: Kerr also listed as "test"

Can't read much into the AFL injury list.

Hodge should miss.

Brown and Kerr will almost certainly miss and there is certainly something wrong with Fev.

Doc Larkin reckoned (on Sunday) that Gilbee's wasn't too serious, but I'd say it's bruised up quite a bit since then. Is a better chance of playing than Higgins IMO.

Word is Cox has an abdominal strain and is a good chance of NOT playing.

quite simply, i gave up my DT and SC because of the outrageous amounts of injuries/suspensions i had. at one point, i used my 2 trades to get rid of 2 injured players and bring in 2 fit guys, and i still had 5 zeros!

quitting will never help! you must carry on with what you've got!!!

i put higgins on the bench in one side and got rid of him in the other for Justin. he goes on and dominates... the only consolation i've got is that my midfield in the side he was on the bench scored 3x 150s, 132 and the two scores lower were 95 and 81... and wouldn't have dropped cross for him anyway... his replacement was muston so i only dropped 25pts. won all my games so pretty happy...
