SuperCoach starts in a few weeks but hey who is counting?
This is the thread to discuss prospects of certain players in 2011 from a SC/DT perspective.
My first player I want to discuss is Ian Callinan. How old is he and will the Professor give him a game with the Blackbirds this season? With so much experience heading out the door at West Lakes last year I'm backing Callinan to be a nice little earner in SuperCoach.
However I don't know enough about Centrals or the Crows to state this with any certantity. What chance that this Dog will have his day with the Blackbirds this season? Is this bloke worth a spot on the bench for the REBCats this year?

REB

May be worth a punt, but he's a rookie isn't he ?
My "oldy" in my team will be Duigs. Carlton will play him. Won his heat of the time trail after the Christmas break, and is flying on the track by all reports. We need a "older" head down back and he's the man.

I think that he will get a gig in the Plastic Cup as we need that "small forward" who can kick goals. Could be used as a pinch hitter in the midfield (i think he played there a bit for the Dogs?).
I will wait and see what the Craigy does with him Pre Season.
I am waiting to see what Foley does in the pre season but apart from that not many at the minute.

The concern I have with Callinan is his role which will be the small forward rather than midfield and that is a risk that his SC scoring will be inconsistent and his average will be low with the occasional big game. But we'll see how he looks in pre-season.

Jasper Pittard from Port interests me as a first round draft pick from 2009 and into his second season with Port rebuilding

Great stuff Hondo. As for SJ...I'll be all over Duigan and I reckon Populo might get a gig too.

Puopolo caught my eye in the SANFL this year from the games I watched.

Get on Wellingham early. I think with all the other Gun midfielder Collingwood have, he will attract the least amount of attention & tear a few games apart at a reasonable price

Wellingham would need to average well over the ton to be a good buy. I reckon the following are much cheaper and provide better value
Foley
Vince
Anthony
D Swallow (who everyone will have of course)
Polec
Conca
I reckon all could average 80-100 and make you a lot more money that what Wellingham would.

Everyone will get on Andy Otten but there is the question mark over how quickly he will get back into it after 12 months off

Aaron Cornelius (Brisbane) will start out pretty cheap, but can see upside for him if Fevola either doesn't come back or has any sort of down 2011.
Gold Coast may find that, through necessity, Gorringe gets early games also.

With the interchange sub it is possible we will see fewer AFL coaches playing a second genuine ruckman - picking rookie rucks that will get games and become cash cows is going to be a crucial part of SC/DT this year.

Two first ruckmen are a must this year. I reckon Melbourne could be the odd one out. I reckon Jamar will have a slightly reduced TOG with Rob Campbell recruited to come on and finish the job with the Russian subbed off.

Yes, I haven't thought about this sub rule much at all yet but it could be as big a deal as the bye in terms of planning.
Picking our teams each week will be tougher because I don't think they need to nominate their sub (out of the 4 named interchange players) until 90 minutes before the game. So you pick a rookie (or anyone) because he was named in the 22 and he could end up not playing much at all.

Or, gets subbed on, plays 10 minutes, scores 5 Fantasy points, carries that score for 3 rounds and plummets in price.

polec is a must for me this year.
as well as andy otten.
with all the byes tho it will be silly to have too many layers from one team in your lineup.
i dont rekon you will be able to have more than one player from the same team in each section i.e mids forwards etc.

Anyone considering Coad if he's cheap?

One thing that may help us is that the sub is likely to be a ruckman I guess?
I think with the byes and the sub rule picking the right 4 ruckman will be crucial. With only 4 players you can select you need 2 playing each round (not as a sub) and that will need some planning.

Yes. He'll get a gig before Toy IMO as he has an AFL sized frame.
