Hogg Elite League

Les's Men vs. Hips Don't Lie

Les's Men (1st) P: 19 W: 14 L:5
Hips Don't Lie (5th) P:20 W:14 L:6

The Minor premier is under siege here from a team that has powered up in the finals. Hippy have been outscoring Les of late but I get the feeling this one could be close. This match is between two mates from West Adelaide Football Club that were introduced to the Hogg by CoverKing. Les's Men have been the more decorated side but in reality there is very little between the two sides. My tip - Hips Don't Lie.

Hogg Premier League

Has Been vs. Q Before You

Teams

FWD Swan D Martin R Gray H Bennell B Goddard T Mitchell
FWD Swan D Martin Dalhaus R Gray Higgins J Kennedy
MID Dangerfield Pendlebury Fyfe Rockliff JP Kennedy Treloar Hannebery Heppell
MID Dangerfield Pendlebury Fyfe Rockliff Sloane Armitage Griffen Hanley
RUCK Goldstein Naitanui
RUCK Goldstein Gawn
DEF H Shaw Hodge Newnes Simpson McDonald Hibberd
DEF H Shaw Hodge Picken Newnes Houli McDonald
I/C Ryder Read Lambert B Smith
I/C Daniel Read Krakouer H Goddard

Q Before You in Blue. Two pretty even teams in this one. In the FWD and DEF it looks like Q has the edge but I like Has Been better in the RUCK and in the MIDS. A lot will depend on the availability of Tom Mitchell and David Armitage. The word on Mitchell is another week at this early stage and Armitage has a shoulder problem with St Kilda not really needing to risk one of their best midfielders. Q will be hoping the Saint ball magnet plays so that he can make the call on Hodge and possibly think about upgrading Hanley who you wouldn't back to make a good score against an angry Hawk combination.

Head to Head

This is the first final between these two teams. So far Has Been has defeated Q Before You in both of their previous meetings. Q Before You is appearing in their third Grand Final in the Premier League after sharing the honours 1-1 with Captain Who? This is Has Been's second straight Premier League Grand Final after losing to Cork in the Ocean last year.

The Word

Has Been has been the better team all year. Has Been has outscored Q all year long. Q has question marks in midfield. So who wins? All logic says Has Been but there has been a sense of destiny about Q Before You's late run and seeing as my tipping has defied logic all season I'm selecting Q to win his second Hogg Premier League title. My tip - Q Before You by 23 points.

Hogg Division I

Pool Swimmers vs. Delicious

Pool Swimmers (1st): P: 19 W: 15 L: 4
Delicious (2nd): P: 19 W: 15 L: 4

Congratulations to our newest Hogg Premier League coaches, Pool Swimmers and Delicious. Every Divvy I coach has two goals, to go up to Premier League and to win the Flag. These lads have achieved the first goal and are now looking at the second. As I don't have access to this league all I can say is that the best two teams (at least according to the Premiership Table) have won their way through to the playoff.

Both teams have identical win loss records for the season and I'm not sure who won their minor round clash but Delcious has the edge in overall scoring as well as scoring during the finals. Delicious topped the Hogg last week so you couldn't ask for a better preparation as valleys tries to break their Hogg duck. My tip - Delicious.

Hogg Division II

Crack of Trust vs. Hips Don't Lie

Teams

FWD Swan D Martin R Gray Bontempelli Gawn Lambert
FWD Swan Deledio D Martin R Gray Bontempelli B Goddard
MID Dangerfield J Selwood Fyfe Rockliff Sloane Treloar Sidebottom Boak
MID Dangerfield J Selwood Pendlebury Priddis S Mitchell Hannebery Heppell Griffen
RUCK Goldstein S Martin
RUCK Goldstein B Grundy
DEF H Shaw Hodge Rance Houli McDonald B Smith
DEF H Shaw Higgins Hibberd K Koladjashnij Ibbotson B Smith
I/C Daniel Downie Dumont Lever
I/C Knight Downie Glenn J Koladjashnij

(In blue) Crack of Trust look very solid here with possibly only Brodie Grundy in the Ruck the only possible weakness. They already have Tom Mitchell on the sidelines so if he doesn't get up that doesn't hurt Crackers all that much. The only problem is the midfield reserves get a bit thin after that with Glenn being the most likely to get a call up. Sammy Mitchell could also cop a visit from the General this weekend which would put a spanner in the works for Crackers.

Hips Don't Lie have Hodge and Fyfe so they are two down already. Their depth players don't appear to be of the same quality especially up forward and in the mids. Hippys have them covered in the Ruck but that's just about it.

Head to Head

This is just the second meeting between these two sides. The last meeting was won by Hips Don't Lie who saluted by 183 points over Crack of Trust just a month ago in the last round.

The Word

Can a team win Hogg Elite league yet lose the Grand FInal in Division II? I played Les's Men a few weeks ago and they didn't look anywhere near as strong as the Crack of Trust so I think this seemingly unlikely set of results is on the cards. I reckon Beadie wins his first premiership here. My tip - Crack of Trust by 91 points.

Hogg Division III

Mediocre at Best vs. Poo Wings

Mediocre at Best (1st): P: 19 W: 18 L:1
Poo Wings (5th): P: 20 W: 14 L: 6

Mediocre at Best has the most inaccurate team name in the entire Hogg. Ranked at number 5 in the rankings they are destined for a Hogg Elite invite in 2016 and they have the best win loss record in the Hogg this year, boasting an impressive 18-1 record over 19 matches. They also hold a lead of over 1000 points in the overall rankings over this week's opponent. However, this is a grand final and as a team called Poo Wings might tell you, all the above doesn't count for shit once the first mouse is clicked this Friday just before the bounce.

Without having a Captain Cook at the teams (and looking at the possible carnage factor) it's a tough call to make as Poo Wings has risen above it so far in this finals series. Based on known facts, I'm taking the pussy arse way out and tipping the favourite. the only worse option is 'the Derm' where you talk up the underdog all night but tip the favourite to win by a kick. My tip - Mediocre at Best.

Hogg Division IV

Summer of George vs. Chelsea FC

Teams

FWD Swan Deledio D Martin R Gray Bontempelli B Goddard
FWD Swan D Martin R Gray Higgins Gunston J Kennedy
MID Dangerfield Pendlebury Fyfe JP Kennedy Hannebery Sidebottom Cotchin Barlow
MID Pendlebury Fyfe Priddis JP Kennedy Hannebery B Goddard Neale Ebert
RUCK Goldstein B Grundy
RUCK Sandilands Jacobs
DEF H Shaw Hodge K Simpson Laird K Koladjashnij B Smith
DEF H Shaw Hooker Laird B Smith Yeo Edwards
I/C Daniel Brooksby Lambert Lever
I/C Dale Brooksby Dumont McKenzie

Chelsea FC would be pretty happy to hear about Cotchin's bad back because on paper Summer of George has them covered easily. On every line with the exception of the RUCK, George is comfortably ahead. As it stands now if Georgie boy has two trades left he wins the flag. He has to use them on Hodge and Cotchin seeing as Chelsea have Fyfe also.

Head to Head

Summer of George has been in the same league as Chelsea for the past two seasons and they have been comfortably the better side over the journey. This is the third meeting between the teams and George has saluted on both previous occasions. The last time these sides met George was a comfortable 161 point winner.

The Word

If Summer of George has the trades he wins this flag. Even if he doesn't he could still sneak over the line. It's hard to make a case for Chelsea in this one as they are fielding key forwards such as Kennedy and Gunston and also Edwards of Essendon who hasn't been a massive scorer to date. A big match for Yeo and Hooker would prove to be very helpful but I think Chelsea will come up short in this one. My tip - Summer of George by 222 points Richie.

2015 Piglet Shield

Underbelly vs. kiwi krappers

Teams

FWD Swan Deledio D Martin R Gray H Bennell J Roughead
FWD Swan D Martin R Gray H Bennell B Goddard Lambert
MID Dangerfield J Selwood Pendlebury Fyfe Priddis JP Kennedy Hannebery Ward
MID Deledio Pendlebury Fyfe Rockliff Priddis JP Kennedy Sloane Hodge
RUCK Goldstein Naitanui
RUCK Goldstein Jacobs
DEF H Shaw Hodge Newnes Rance Gibson H Goddard
DEF H Shaw Newnes Hooker K Simpson Gibson H Taylor
I/C Steele Read Neal-Bullen Maynard
I/C H Goddard Cox Knight Edwards

Underbelly will go into the Piglet Shield (REB family league that has 17 Hogg teams in it) as a warm favourite after dominating the competition this season in their best ever season in the Hogg. In the Blue corner is kiwi krappers so this one is a domestic matter as Underbelly is my sister and the kiwi is my bro in law. There aren't that many ladies in the Hogg but Underbelly tops the lot this year after they cleaned up the usual top Dog Underdogs.

Looking at the sides I'm pretty jelly about that Underbelly lineup. The Kiwi has some of the same players but alas they are playing on the wrong line in the unavailable Luke Hodge and the grumpy Brendan Goddard. Underbelly has specialist mids in there and that makes her team stronger.

Head to Head

Seeing as there are no relegation in the Piglet Shield this means that teams that play for a long time build up a fairly extensive rivalry. These teams have met six times before and the head to head currently stands at three wins apiece. Neither side has played in a Hogg Shield Grand Final before although the kiwi was the minor premier in the Piglet way back in 2010 until he got punted out in straight sets.

The Word

Yep, the laptops will be out at Mile End this weekend. I'm expecting plenty of banter...and an Underbelly premiership. The mob got the staggers a few weeks ago but they've regathered their poise and the krappers will probably last about as long as the kiwis did in the World Cup final. My tip - Underbelly by 96 points.

Hogg Division V

Multiple Scorgasms vs. Failed Creation

Teams

FWD Swan D Martin R Gray T Mitchell Ryder T Walker
FWD Swan Dalhaus Bontempelli B Goddard Gunston Ryder
MID Dangerfield J Selwood Pendlebury Fyfe Rockliff Priddis Hannebery Lewis
MID Dangerfield Priddis Sloane R Gray Hannebery Neale N Jones Atkins
RUCK Goldstein Gawn
RUCK Blicavs Maric
DEF H Shaw Hodge Enright Newnes Rance Houli
DEF Higgins Newnes T McDonald Gibson B Smith H Goddard
I/C Hogan O'Brien Burgoyne McIntosh
I/C Dale Brooksby Steele Lumumba

A few days ago I posted in the Divvy V thread after Failed Creation predicted a dismal outcome for his team in the Grand Final week. Seeing as they weren't that far behind in the scoring I pumped him up a bit telling him he had a better chance than some teams this weekend. However, upon closer inspection his team is in some serious shit here. Hodge is out you say? No problemo, I'll just chuck McIntosh on. No Ffye? Come on down Mr Burgoyne. While these aren't earth shattering moves to make you have to notice names such as Atkins, H Goddard and Blicavs on the field for the Creation.

Head to Head

There has only been one match between these two sides and that was when Failed Creation won by 181 points earlier in the season. In that match Scorgasms only racked up 1766 so he's a fair chance of passing that with this team. Both teams are playing in their first Grand Final. Failed Creation has earnt promotion after just missing out last year and Scorgasms have been smashing it for a long time now after a pretty slow starting four or five weeks to the season.

The Word

As Martin Prince once said 'A blind Chimp has more chance of passing this test than you Bart' Sorry Creation, eat my shorts. Clubber Lang's prediction for this fight is PAIN. My tip - Multiple Scorgasms by 271 points.
