Daisy's golden season of Hogg continued this week as the Duds racked up yet another 2200 score in a week when that was good enough to be considered above par. This week's victim was the former Premier League side Ginger Ninjas who with a heavy Crow representation put up a pretty good fight but lost out in the end. If Daisy can keep this form up he might be in the Premier League himself.

Two teams who might have a bit of a say in at least the first step of that process are Professor Crow and Chops Clots. The Clots have barely lost a match in their Hogg career to date and they have continued on with this form even though they are in much tougher company this year. Professor Crow is another side who look to be about the place this season and they remained unbeaten after seeing off the considerable challenge presented by Jims TigerRoos.

The Summer of George has been put on hold by the Straycats after Adam Treloar did the unthinkable and stopped picking out the opposition. Strut needed 117 from Treloar and he had that by lemon time so the Strutties stayed in the eight. The powerful Roosters finally got to Crow after racking up a mighty 2310 which was more than enough to account for Dogmatic whose Moneybrawl appear spent already. True North and the Killer Wombats got a rare taste of defeat in a league that is starting to get very tough indeed.

In a round where scoring was low and top teams faltered Daisy managed to hang on and be the only undefeated side in Divvy II. There were a couple of very close finishes as this round featured a one point and a two point result. The one point game was at the bottom of the ladder where Darke Peak Pubs finally opened for business over Such is Stryfe who have gone from Divvy II heavyweight to the cellar with a relegation battle looming. The two point game was when Brodlach Bombers snuck over the line against Duromine Dependent.

Another bottom of the table match this week was ZampasHeadband who got on the board against Moneybrawl who already look to be in real trouble this season. Dogmatic is still in the doghouse and managed to even score less than Straycat Strut who were knocked off by Ginger Ninjas in a real shocker for the Strut. While every other bugger was scoring jack Rooster MkII racked up 2136 a score that was only beaten by the worst team in the Hogg this week I believe. The Roosters are back in the top eight as are Summer of George who are shining again.

With percentage separating fourth from twelfth it's important you make every post a winner in these early rounds where players are dropping like ninepins. Early wins will be so important in a year when the carnage has come early. DaisysDuds had a tough fight from Brodlach before the league leaders got the chocolates and maintained their unbeaten start. However, you get the feeling that the rest of the league is starting to bridge the gap. Kel's True North are normally a tough combination and they've maintained their consistency, consistent enough to be 4-1 in a league that is closing in one Division I in rankings. True North are the highest ranking female side in the Hogg this year and they had a solid week once again trouncing Chops Clots, sending them spiralling out of the eight.

Summer of George is on the way back up and I'm tipping them to be a genuine force come August. JimsTigerRoos have put in a pretty good stint this year as well. Professor Crow started well but have dropped a couple of matches. Such Is Ffye is the biggest fallen angel though. Fyfey normally scores pretty well but this season they can't seem to get across the line and they share the cellar with Moneybrawl who are still Owen.

Jeez you put the mockers on me the other week Reb after declaring I've hardly lost a game in my Hogg Career, I've since dropped two in a row & no sign of improvement with my spuddy lineup!!
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

I noticed the Straycat Struts were tied in their match pre scaling, lost by 1, unlucky :D

Straycats' defence is worse than the Geelong Cats defence and that's saying something.

18 Moneybrawl 0 6 12046 12897 93.40 0

Such Is Fyfe shook off weeks of mediocrity and rolled back the clock to last season when they pulled off a sensational boilover to defeat True North. With bottom beating second, the real winner was Daisy who remained unbeaten and now enjoy a two game break on the field coming into the first bye week. Other teams to do well this week included Ginger Ninjas who are travelling a lot better than last season when they struggled in Divvy I, and Summer of George and Zedforce who don't struggle all that much at all.

Big apologies to Chops Clots who have been given a bigger kiss of death than the Adelaide Crows. Three straight losses with the third of these to the Roosters who outclassed the Clots and clambered into the top four. If it makes you feel any better Dave I lost after scaling last week to the lowest scoring team in the league which is going to hurt the Struts later in the year. I would need to do a Fyfey against a good side to undo that one.

18 Moneybrawl 0 7 14126 15004 94.15 0

Plenty of players went huge on the weekend and fair dinkum Daisy must have the lot. The Duds are hardly that this season and Daisy's boys easily topped the league and the Hogg with a massive 2415 which was 230 points clear of then second ZedForce. After only seven rounds it wouldn't be a stretch to say that DaisysDuds and one other side will be going up to Division I next season. It's Daisy's premiership to lose this one.

The only thing that might stop Daisy is the 'REB Curse'. Many would say no such thing but one coach who would not would Chops Clots who haven't won a match since I helpfully pointed out that the Clots had hardly lost a match in their entire Hogg history. Sorry about that Dave. Well mate if it makes you feel any better the Struts are doing a great Richmond impersonation (oh shit got him again!) as we lost yet another close match, this time to the impressive Jims TigerRoos who might be one of those sides capable of joining Daisy in the higher league next season.

A couple of teams near the bottom got important wins with Such Is Fyfe following up their breakthrough win with a second. They are still in the relegation zone though as ZampasHeadband and the Screwnicorns also had wins. Such an outcome has yet to occur for Moneybrawl though who have yet to adopt out Owen despite him turning seven.

18 Moneybrawl 1 7 16340 16990 96.17 4

Lady luck deserted the ladder leaders as Lloyd last about forty seconds which ended Daisy's winning streak at the hands of the second ranked side Professor Crow. Even without Lloyd, Daisy would have salted against anyone except for the Professor and ZedForce who would have pipped the Duds by a point if they played. The top eight have snuck away as the teams just outside the eight in Brodlach, the Struts the Wombats and REB Curse victims Chops Clots wee all rolled. A special shout out to Ginger Ninjas who continue to score **** all and win and Moneybrawl who recorded their first win of the season.

Six of the nine winners this week were teams that are not in the top eight as the bye week created havoc for teams in the middle of the ladder. ZedForce emerged as a genuine force and they went to third on the ladder while the Professor and Daisy won again like usual. The two most spectacular implosions by top eight sides were by Summer of George who are a good side and Ginger Ninjas who aren't. Ginge has been kissed on the dick this year in Divvy II as the for and against might indicate and there are plenty of teams outside of the top eight who are eyeing their top eight spot. One of the more impressive of the chasing pack is Such Is Fyfe who are on a big roll now after dragging the chain early doors. On the flip side poor old Chops Clots were rolled again as the REB Curse entered it's sixth match. I swear Kennett has nothing on me. Spare a thought for Moneybrawl, they win again and so does every other bugger in the bottom four. Life's tough in Divvy II I tell you!

18 Moneybrawl 2 8 19821 20011 99.05 8

Daisys Duds continue to lead the way in Divvy II but not until they faced a strong challenge from an in-form Such is Fyfe. These two put on a cracking contest that looked like a loss for Daisy but the Duds got the points in the end in a high quality match up. Fyfey very stiff to lose with 1938 which was a pretty good score for this round. Daisy has set the standard but there are a few teams that are going with them and this week it was Summer of George that stood out with a solid 2068 which topped the Hogg this week. You have to feel for Duromine Dependent copping that score during a bye week.

The top seven sides look good things for the finals already but Ginger Ninjas are the odd team out. Somehow they've scrambled a few low scoring wins but arse can only get you so far and Killer Wombats, Straycat Strut, Such is Fyfe and Brodlach Bombers are all making claims for that last spot in the eight. If I had to nominate a second side under threat it might be True North but I don't think there will be too many changes to the eight from here in this league.

18 ZampasHeadband 3 8 21142 21385 98.86 12

Daisy continued his dominance of the league with another tight win over a fellow contender but this round was all about the high scoring cellar dwellers. Moneybrawl, Screwnicorns and Darke Peak Pubs haven't been scaring too many in this tough league but this week the cubs turned into full fledged Lions as they all posted important victories. The Roosters and Professor Crow were two leading teams to feel the brunt of the revolution which enabled other mid table sides to steal a bit of a march on them.

Zedforce and Jims TigerRoos have been purring on nicely and they disposed of top eight opposition while Straycat Strut won another unimpressive match over a bottom six side as they fell over the line against struggling Duromine Dependent. The REB curse finally lifted from Chops Clots when Brodlach was bombed and Such Is Fyfe hit back after a narrow loss to the league leaders the previous week to stay in the hunt.

Hoping that's the end of the curse Reb... onwards & upwards now for the Clots...

Great write ups as always!

Daisy is a shattered man after his near-perfect SuperCoach season fell in a heap last weekend. Daisy has been doing it on the bit this year but this week the Duds came a cropper as they were one of the rare teams to have both Jelwood and Beams. Even worse for Daisy is that he had Lynch as well so that's three players who scored less than 50 between them. In even worse news for the Duds, StrayCat Strut scored easily their best score of the year to give the unlucky Duds a bit of a touch up.

Whether the Duds loss is the demise of the league leaders or a blip it appears that Jims TigerRoos and ZedForce look best placed to take advantage. Jimbo racked up 2342 to smash the Roosters out of the top eight while Zed had to settle for a smaller score on the way to posting their ninth win. Professor Crow has been neglecting his lessons of late which means that Such as Fyfe and the Strutties still have one eye on the top four. What I can't believe here is that Gingernuts is somehow still in the hunt for a finals spot after scoring bugger all this season. The Ginger Ninjas are ranked 17th in scoring but they sit in 6th spot and keep on getting the wins.

You were dead stiff. You can't do shit about blokes getting knocked out in the first minute. I had Jelwood for REBCats and it cost me all my games. It might be the end of any meaningful shot at the cash but there is still a flag to be won here and if you cover Beams and sack Lynch you'll still be the team to beat and go into Divvy I. I was fairly amused at Walters' 105 though....although I'm not all that unhappy about him missing that goal!

Strut.

I'm just dark because they beat Strut. I had a Hawthorn v Carlton ownership of him going back years before that one. [/bragging rights].
