Brodlach Bombers 2021

DaisysDuds 2363
Screwnicorn's 2205

Straycat Strut 2414
Killer Wombats 2213

Ladder

1 DaisysDuds 11 2 27479 26124 105.19 44
2 Jims TigerRoos 10 3 26534 26136 101.52 40

4 Professor Crow 8 5 26745 25904 103.25 32
5 Straycat Strut 8 5 26623 25888 102.84 32
6 Roosters Mk II 7 6 26790 26483 101.16 28
7 Summer of George 7 6 26275 26238 100.14 28
8 Ginger Ninjas 7 6 24950 25825 96.61 28

9 Such Is Fyfe 6 7 26181 25904 101.07 24
10 True North 6 7 26208 26109 100.38 24
11 Moneybrawl 5 8 26096 26093 100.01 20
12 Screwnicorn's 5 8 26244 26289 99.83 20
13 Killer Wombats 5 8 25791 26141 98.66 20
14 Chops Clots 5 8 25924 26318 98.50 20
15 Darke Peak Pubs 5 8 25262 25779 97.99 20
16 Brodlach Bombers 5 8 25182 26208 96.09 20
17 Duromine Dependent 5 8 25182 26631 94.56 20
18 ZampasHeadband 3 10 25358 25926 97.81 12

This is a killer league. I can't think of any other Hogg Leagues where two teams in the relegation zone are racking up 2444-2301 scorelines. Second last Duromine Dependent had to pull out a huge score just to keep up with the relegation zone. Zampas are no duds and they are pretty unlucky to have just three wins and their days look numbered. Such is the tightness of this league I'd say 8th ranked Ginger Ninjas are even a chance of getting relegated!

Most of the in-form sides are going from strength to strength with the exception of ZedForce who got cleaned up by Chops Clots who themselves somehow have relegation worries. Other teams losing their grip a little include Ginger Ninjas who are one of the weakest scorers in the league, True North who are struggling for the first time in their Hogg career and Brodlach Bombers whose form has totally deserted them. Brodlach must be wondering where his next win is coming from seeing the frightening scoring coming from some of the bottom five this week.

Daisy got back in the winners circle and it was a good week for the Professor, Jims TigerRoos and the Strut again as Zed is dead baby. Well, not dead, but he certainly took a nap this week.

Hey REB you have kicked the dog when he has been down but no praise when i win.
My opponent should be looking good this week as i have limited access atm in kotor and then get back on the ship. Don't know where my next internet access will be.

Summer of George 2336
Moneybrawl 2289

DaisysDuds 2308
Darke Peak Pubs 2131

Straycat Strut 2088
Brodlach Bombers 1983

Killer Wombats 2185
Screwnicorn's 1971

Ladder

1 DaisysDuds 12 2 29787 28255 105.42 48
2 Jims TigerRoos 11 3 28719 28287 101.53 44

7 Summer of George 8 6 28611 28527 100.29 32
8 Such Is Fyfe 7 7 28409 28049 101.28 28

9 Ginger Ninjas 7 7 27039 28102 96.22 28
10 True North 6 8 28512 28431 100.28 24
11 Killer Wombats 6 8 27976 28112 99.52 24
12 Chops Clots 6 8 28312 28636 98.87 24
13 Moneybrawl 5 9 28385 28429 99.85 20
14 Screwnicorn's 5 9 28215 28474 99.09 20
15 Darke Peak Pubs 5 9 27393 28087 97.53 20
16 Duromine Dependent 5 9 27705 28816 96.14 20
17 Brodlach Bombers 5 9 27165 28296 96.00 20
18 ZampasHeadband 4 10 27680 28230 98.05 16

For the first time in a couple of weeks, a few Divvy II teams put in really stinky performances. Some teams even managed a win while doing so. :D This didn't apply to all though as plenty of teams did the expected and cracked 2300 for the week with Chops Clot leading the hit parade. I praised them to the skies and they dropped six in a row (so be thankful Dogmatic! ;) ) but they are back in town in a big way and stalking the top eight. Speaking of Moneybrawl, I'd like to praise them this week but unfortunately they were burnt during the Summer of George who scored over 2300 as well.

Spare a thought for True North who copped 2322 from last placed ZampasHeadband which goes to show there are no easy games in this league, with the possible exception of Ginger Ninjas who were plucked by the hungry Roosters. Sounds painful. Zampas big win certainly puts the Cat amongst the pigeons as far as relegation goes with quite a few teams looking to scramble for victories to save their skin.

As far as the final eight goes. I'd say it's almost set except for the good form of Killer Wombats and Chops Clots keeping everyone on their toes. One of the early pacesetters Professor Crow finds themselves out of the top four for the first time in many weeks as somehow the flaky Straycat Strut has snuck in the back door.

One of my highest scores for the year. Pretty good considering i am in the Mediterranean out at sea most of the time and with dodgy connections when i am on land. The cheap beer/wifi options don't always live up to expectations. Khios, rhodes and mykonos to go. Another tough week due to the time difference and internet access. Hopefully can do enough to avoid the drop.

Moneybrawl 2020

Killer Wombats 2297
Darke Peak Pubs 2046

Screwnicorn's 2246
Brodlach Bombers 2100

Ladder

1 DaisysDuds 13 2 31999 30384 105.32 52
2 Jims TigerRoos 11 4 30848 30499 101.14 44

8 Roosters Mk II 8 7 31308 30948 101.16 32

9 True North 7 8 30832 30645 100.61 28
10 Killer Wombats 7 8 30273 30158 100.38 28
11 Chops Clots 7 8 30477 30780 99.02 28
12 Ginger Ninjas 7 8 29183 30267 96.42 28
13 Screwnicorn's 6 9 30461 30574 99.63 24

18 Brodlach Bombers 5 10 29265 30542 95.82 20

The Summer of George have fired a warning shot across the bow of the competition with a massive 2511 to sink an impressive ZedForce by 200 points to open up the battle for fourth spot. The top of the table clash between Daisy and the TigerRoos turned into a bit of a fizzer as the TigerRoos played more like the Roos than the Tigers and his low score wasn't a match for a slightly off Daisy. A couple of top eight sides have lost that winning feeling in Professor Crow and Roosters while Such as Fyfe have certainly found that loving feeling and they will be a handful in the finals as well.

Outside the eight Killer Wombats, True North and Chops Clots kept their season alive while the Ginger Ninjas slowly slide down the ladder. Screwnicorns are suddenly scoring quite well and should avoid the drop while Moneybrawl are all at sea against a suddenly lucky Straycat Strut and will face a tough task trying to avoid the drop with ZampasHeadband suddenly going gangbusters in recent weeks. I'm liking Zampa to stay up while Moneybrawl sinks. The reality is that Ginger Ninjas should go down but with seven wins that looks unlikely.

6 Roosters Mk II 9 7 33707 33324 101.15 36
7 Summer of George 9 7 33378 33216 100.49 36
8 Such Is Fyfe 8 8 33063 32689 101.14 32

9 True North 8 8 33256 33028 100.69 32
10 Chops Clots 8 8 32860 32998 99.58 32
11 Killer Wombats 7 9 32505 32541 99.89 28
12 Ginger Ninjas 7 9 31377 32573 96.33 28
13 Screwnicorn's 6 10 32707 32890 99.44 24
14 Moneybrawl 6 10 32721 32944 99.32 24
15 ZampasHeadband 6 10 32362 32665 99.07 24
16 Darke Peak Pubs 6 10 31695 32596 97.24 24
17 Duromine Dependent 5 11 32295 33535 96.30 20
18 Brodlach Bombers 5 11 31477 32798 95.97 20

SuperCoach can be a cruel bitch at times. Just ask Duromine Dependent. After scoring a decent score and losing by 23 points to a top eight side they are now relegated to Division III despite winning five matches this season. Broadlach is gone as well after they lost a virtual elimination final to Darke Peake Pubs who with six wins are not yet safe. Moneybrawl delivered as promised and all of a sudden the heat is on the Screwnicorns who must be looking over their shoulder now. It is going to be a cracking final round in what has been a very tightly contested league. A side could win seven matches and go down here!

There are still a couple of mid table sides than can snaffle a late entry into the finals too. True North had to roll one of the best teams in the Hogg to stay alive but stay alive Kelly did as DaisysDuds copped just their third loss for the season. A win by Such is Fyfe would have shut the door on Chops Clots but the Clots stuck thick and all of a sudden Fyfey is looking a bit wobbly with two teams right on their heels. In the battle for the top four StrayCat Strut put in a real shitter to get rolled by ZedForce and with Walters gone for the year some sauve trading might be needed to hold off this week's opponent the Professor to hang on to the double chance.

18 Brodlach Bombers 6 11 33649 34826 96.62 24

There were no last minute escapes in Division II as the last four duly went down in a series of sensational results. Dogmatic duly delivered on is promise of improved performance and had to do so as well to see off the challenge of Darke Peake Pubs who would have stayed up if they had gotten the victory but it was Moneybrawl who stayed up on the back of a comfortable 107 point victory. Meanwhile, with Ginger Ninjas stinking it up, ZampasHeadband had a chance to stay up if they could roll second last Duromine Dependent. Duromine provided more dependable in the end and the headband was flung to the bottom of the bag and it's Divvy III for them next season after going down by 48.

While the bottom four were firing up, not so the top sides. Daisy suffered their fourth loss in ten rounds at the hands of fellow contender Roosters. Second ranked Jim was rolled by the bottom side while Straycat Strut was narrowly defeated by Professor Crow who got into the top four because Fourth ranked Zedforce lost as well. The last round was a cruel one for Kelly Creation as Killer Wombats came along and spoiled the party. Such Is Fyfe and Summer of George won anyway so perhaps even a win by True North wouldn't have been enough.

On paper it looks like year of the Duds but it looks like the gap has narrowed in recent weeks with any side in the top eight being capable on their day. I'm not sure who to tip for this one but I get the feeling it won't be any of the top three! Watch this space.

Finals Week 1

Qualifying Finals
Professor Crow 2513
DaisysDuds 2326

Jims TigerRoos 2209
Straycat Strut 2199

Elimination Finals
Zedforce 2386
Such Is Fyfe 2339

Summer of George 2428
Roosters Mk II 2373

Professor Crow has beaten DaisysDuds for the second time this season to be one win away from promotion to Division I with a impressive 2513 that left the early season leaders reeling. Jims TigerRoos and Straycat Strut stunk up the place by comparision with the TigerRoos claiming the Straycats' pelt for the second time this season to likewise earn the week off. In the knockout finals both winners were very impressive and the losers weren't disgraced either. ZedForce saw off the strong challenge of Fyfe by 47 points and the Summer of George had to pull out all the stops to salute over the Roosters. Both sides would be aggrieved at being eliminated when they glance at that TigerRoos score.

In the Semis this week put the house on Summer of George to defeat Straycat Strut as my Strutties are cooked. In the other semis it's D day for Daisy who has taken all before them this season. I can't believe that they will go out in straight sets but ZedForce certainly won't be a pushover. Daisy has been more consistent over the year so I reckon he squeezes by Zed and will live to fight another day.

Semi Finals

1st Semi Final
DaisysDuds 2431
ZedForce 2152

Semi Final
Summer of George 2375
Straycat Strut 2006

And Daisy goes BANG. DaisysDuds were starting to live up to their name a bit in recent weeks and were starting to look wobbly but they have hit back hard in the Semi Final as they eliminated ZedForce with a big win in the 1st Semi Final. The less said about Straycat Strut's lamentable finals performance the better as a tradeless Struttie combination copped a bakery of donuts as the wheels fell off. Even at full strength Summer of George would probably have proved a worthy winner. You need to make the Grand final to get promoted out of this league though and I couldn't imagine anything worse than winning through to the Prelim and missing the ticket to go up.

Next week Daisy is up against Jims TigerRoos a team that has fallen short of Division I promotion a few times in the past. I reckon history repeats and that Daisy wins through to the Grand Final and goes up. The TigerRoos look the suspect combination of the last four so I reckon Daisy gets the job done there. The other Prelim is a tougher one to call. Professor Crow has been on fire in recent weeks but so has Summer of George. In a real toss of the coin join I'm giving the nod to the Professor but that match could obviously go either way.

Preliminary Finals

1st Preliminary Final
Professor Crow 2581
Summer of George 2346

2nd Preliminary Final
Jims TigerRoos 2557
DaisysDuds 2447

Congratulations to Professor Crow and Jims TigerRoos who have not only qualified for the Division II Grand Final but they have also been promoted to Hogg Division I next season. It's very tough to get promoted at this level having to make the Grand Final and this year's Division II was the best standard in its history.

The Professor has been building steadily at the right time of the season and they were too good for Summer of George who will be in the same Hogg league for two years straight in a first for them as they are usually the promotion kings. In the other Prelim Jims TigerRoos finally got promoted to Division I after many years of trying. They defeated the unlucky Daisys Duds whose brilliant season has earnt him an invite to Hogg Elite next season but that's about it. The Duds looked like one of the sides that were destined to be promoted but the Creature was too strong in the Prelim so it's thanks for coming Daisy.
