18 The Ginger Ninjas 4 13 33572 36749 91.35 16

Chicken Noodles scored 2456 went from chocolate to boiled lollies after Summer of George was inconsiderate enough to top the league in scoring with 2517 in the last round. The Noodles went from number 2 on the ladder all the way down to seventh this week and a finals date with Straycat Strut who racked up 2515 themselves. While Summer of George has missed the boat it appears that Shanes Superboots have not. They accounted for DAISYS DUDS who retained not only the minor premiership but also some uneasy memories of last year's fade out I'm sure. Remember boys and girls only the Grand Finalists get promoted so it's a tough old school this one.

As mentioned by Dave above, all Underbelly had to do to shut the door on the chasing pack was to defeat the lowly Ginger Ninjas and this was done with a minimum of fuss by the mob. There was a bit more to play for in the bottom five and it was Jimmy Crack Corn who clambered out of the relegation zone with a solid win over Dave's Clots. Moneybrawl saved a bit of face but unlike last year they couldn't avoid the drop and ZedForce is dead baby as they were no match for the Roosters who I think might take some stopping for this premiership.

Finals Week One

Qualifying Finals
DAISYS DUDS 2577
Roosters 2555

Shane's Superboots 2602
FNQ Trotters 2254

Elimination Finals
Cossi's Carnts 2528
Underbelly 2293

Chicken Noodles 2585
Straycat Strut 2428

Division II is a dog eat dog league where you have to make the Grand Final to get promoted but four go down regardless. A lot of very good teams can get stuck in Divvy II and for the past two seasons DAISYS DUDS have been the side that has dominated the minor round while not making it through to the Grand Final. This year the DUDS got to crow over the Roosters as they saluted by 22 points. This means that DAISY has reached where he got to last season, but he needs another win to go up. Shane’s Superboots have been lurking menacingly around the top parts of the table and they topped the scoring over a disappointing FNQ Trotters who are now right out of form. At this stage the Trotters are looking like a straight sets candidate as their scoring hasn’t matched the other top eight outfits bar the eliminated Underbelly.

In the knockout games Cossi’s Carnts kept the door open for a return to Division I with a destroyation of Underbelly who have been well short of the genuine contenders for the past couple of months as the mob went out of the finals without a yelp. Speaking of, Straycat Strut did pretty much the same as we couldn’t match the scoring power of Chicken Noodles who were a bit unlucky to miss out on the top four. Chicken Noodles plays FNQ Trotters next week so it will be the Noodles who DAISY has to beat to finally make Division I. Cossi’s Carnts and the Roosters is anyone’s game with the winner having to play against Shane’s Superboots. I like about five for this one with the Trotters looking like they are cooked.

Hogg Division II Semi Finals

Roosters 2382
Cossi’s Carnts 2302

Chicken Noodles 2355
FNQ Trotters 2205

The Roosters bounced back from their Qualifying Final loss to DAISY last week with a solid win over Cossi in a high quality final. Cossi finished the season strongly but paid the price for missing the double chance which they missed by the barest of margins. The Roosters have built a strong body of work in recent seasons and they will be a strong challenger to Shane’s Superboots in the battle to claim a Division I spot next season. It was so near so far for Cossi who scores well but finds it tough to seal the deal in August.

In the other final Chicken Noodles are steaming towards the Preliminary Final after they recorded an easy win over FNQ Trotters who despite having trades copped injury after injury all year which derailed a promising season. I can speak from first-hand experience how good the Noodles are as they cleaned up my boys twice this season and DAISY could yet falter at the final hurdle yet again in their promotion play off in the Preliminary Final.

Winners of the Preliminary Finals to be promoted to Hogg Division I.

Preliminary Finals

1st Preliminary Final
Chicken Noodles 2540
DAISYS DUDS 2472

2nd Preliminary Final
Roosters 2483
Shane's Superboots 2132

For the second year in a row DAISY has come up short in the Preliminary Final and missed out on promotion after dominating the minor round in Division II. I thought this would be the year for DAISY but he has been saying all year that his team is rubbish. Wish I could be so rubbish to make the Prelim Finals here. Full marks to Chicken Noodles who earned promotion into Hogg Division I shits getting real boys. DAISY was not disgraced but fell about a player short perhaps of getting into Division I and it will be third time lucky for the Hawk. In the other Prelim the Roosters underlined their Hogg credentials with a 351 point pounding over Shane's Superboots. It's a second disappointing finals series in a row for the high scoring Superboots who must have had chewy on them this week as his normaly high scoring collapsed just when it mattered.

Congratulations to the promoted sides Chicken Noodles and Roosters and good luck in the Grand Final next week.

Grand Final

Roosters 2622
Chicken Noodles 2439

The Roosters are crowing after the Hogg Division II Grand Final after a powerful victory over a lukewarm Chicken Noodles outfit. The Noodles didn't score all that badly to be fair but they weren't really in the race against a champions Roosters side who romped to a Grand Final victory. With both sides being promoted it is like both sides are winners as they both go up to Division I next season but it is the Roosters who are the real winners with a fine premiership victory. Congratulations to Roosters, the 2018 Hogg Division II Premiers.
