Rookie mistakes

Postby Lightning McQueen » Thu Mar 19, 2020 9:03 am

Amidst scouring the country for toilet paper and rice each weekend I haven't tapped into the Marsh Cup too much, plus I'm without Foxtel or Kayo.

Can anyone shed some light on rookies that might be lining up or have done well so far.

Try this, it relates to the other fantasy game but the players should be pretty well the same when it comes to selecting rookies.

If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

If you are picking rookies, that's the mistake. They are shit this year. I'm starting with just three rookies, Rowell, Starcevich and Taylor.

Just a bit. :)

It could be a masterstroke or a major fail. I've gone all in. No value in defender or mid rooks. Put in a couple in the forward line and Starcevich up back but that's it. I've gambled on early points for Narkle, McGrath, Simpkin, Jacobs and Nathan Jones. If I'm wrong and a rookie bobs up early and my midpricers fail I make the corrective trade and pocket the cash. If I'm right I outscore teams with too many mid and defensive rooks. No McRae, Grundy, Neale or Whitfield for me.

Pickett not a rookie, just rookie priced. Got rid of Rowell in the end and went with McGrath at M7. Pickett is my M8. Three rooks are Starcevich, Bedford, Taylor with Cavara and King on the bench. Wait on see which ones I roll with but like Bedford's PPM stat, but not his JS.

How have you got the ultimate premiums or are you taking a punt on the likes of Bontempelli, Mitchell over the Cripps, Neales

Didn't go Rowell in the end. Opted for selected cheapies and pocketed the cash.

Going to be a hard captain choice each week without Grundy REB, was it worth it for the 8k difference between Grundy and Gawn? Not too many wouldve gone the way you have if only selecting one of the big 2, who knows it might pay off but not off to a good start

I ended up going with Grundy and Nic Nat but then went with 10 ultra premiums

Grundy and Jacobs for me with 4 premos and 13 just below top tier/mid pricers and 5 rookies on field with a loophole option in midfield between the 3 that everyones got.
Im still tossing up choosing one of Petracca, Ceglar or Dawson in my fwd line

Pretty happy with my two on-field "rookies" so far - Pickett and Noble.

Off field Tyler Brown was good but Cavarra not

Not overly good performance by Lloyd but real happy with rookie pick McInerney. Looks like he can play a bit, not sure what his job security is!
