How can anyone not be screwed by Round 14? With Melbourne and Collingwood on the same bye week that kills Grawndy and Essendon, Adelaide and Sydney all have heaps of SC relevant players also. Yeah we have eight trades but perhaps only Ecky will be trading out non playing premos that week just they can win. I reckon the way to go is to build your side with an eye on Round 15 and just roll with the punches the week before. If anyone burns eight trades in the next two weeks they are cooked.

I should be able to get to 18 in R14 without using all 8 trades

Plan at the moment (which will change 20 more times  ) is

R13:
Jordon-Touk Miller (best premo with R12 bye)
Zorko-one of the many subpremos around 420K (Powell Pepper or Wingard maybe)
Highmore-Bianco

Gives me 17 premo plus best of about 4 rookie scores, no problems this round.

R14:
Heeney-Dangerfield (if he is back, otherwise Hall maybe)
Poulter-some playing rookie
RCD-subpremo fwd around $380K

Gives 14 premo plus probably enough playing rookies to make at least 18. If not enough use 4th trade.

R15 worst midfielder-Zorko
dump a maxed out rookie if need more cash for this

Gives me 3 trades left with 7 premo in fwd line so benchloop the worst two each week.

At this stage that seems to be the best balance between maximising bye round scores and trying to have the best possible team in the longer run.

Love to be able to get Touk in.

Well my luck may have run out! Probably my worst game for the year since I traded in Powell Pepper and Duncan :vom: , when one of the main other options I was considering was trading in Jeremy Cameron and Touk Miller. Still a long way to go in the season, but this now makes it much harder to catch up to the leaders, many of whom have Stewart (130) who I don't have.

Mate, you've been braining it this year but picking Port players always ends in tears. Picking blokes first game back from concussion isnt a good look either. Hey man anytime you want SC advice from a bloke ranked 10032 just let me know. :D

Real keen on Touk but he's a bit too pricey now. Nice bye fit as well.

Summer of George has announced itself as a team to watch after ending Ecky's massive Premier League winning streak. Ecky last lost in Round 12 last season which makes it a record 14 straight premier league victories for the Fevs. I'm tipping that Ecky's ranking has now gone to shit which is a shame as we were all enjoying the show but the SC gods are too cruel to allow one of our own get so close to ultimate glory. A shoutout here to the Sharks of course who once collected the weekly prize....didn't buy me a beer though the bastard.

Now that we know Ecky is in fact beatable, there appears to be a new big FISH in the pond and that man is FISH. Second on the ladder they made light work of Q in a bye round that didn't appear to suit the Q Man all that much. Unfortunately for this weeks losers next week we are ALL going to be losers, each and everyone one of us. Imagine being happy about 1500! We had our second draw for the season and there was no brotherly love between Richo and Wycbloods as the boys fought out a 1941 apiece draw. HEY, cut it you boys! Share! Good lads, two points each. That two points is enough to keep Bloods in the eight and they are vital for Richo who is mired in a relegation battle down in 15th spot.

A couple of teams are struggling with the bye weeks and top eight Watts is certainly one of those. They have lost significant ground on the frontrunners in the league and the Captain swooped on the four points to get themselves back into the eight at Inner Sanctum's expense as after they were stunned by Hondo who appears to have woken up in no uncertain terms. I think I liked it better when he was snoozing but I got him so if he can clean everyone else up I guess I'm good with it. Another team struggling with the byes is Poon who is normally ham 'bye master' bone. This week was the big Ippy Derby battle and I had just about thrown in the hanky but decided to go down swinging. It was vital win in the relegation battle and now Poon is in deep shit having sacrificed his troops to a forlorn cause with much bigger battles to come.

Sharks are another team losing ground fast as my man Spiro has moved to Perth and he still hasn't worked out they are on South African time over there. Well, ask one of them buggers the time you can't even understand it and the Poms are just as bad. Anyway, Spiro ended up with Mitch Duncan as skipper which meant he lost in nine of the six leagues that he participates in. Now that's really struggling.

Normally I don't do a preview as I can't be arsed writing one and who knows what the SC gods will do. But I will this week....in Round 12 everyone is well and truly ******. Of that you can be certain. Bring some lube.

Ranking dropped from 43 to 68 so still some sort of chance, I just now have to prioritise more unique players and hope that a few of the common players I don't have get injured or lose form. The one thing I seemed to get right was trading out Impey before his bye - almost everyone else in the top 100 still has him and I think there's a fair chance he'll only average 70 now for the rest of the season. If I can get someone who averages 100 instead there's 300 points and half way to catching the leaders.

Ecky got the show back on this week in Nuclear Bye Week at the expense of the luckless Q who has had a bye period to forget in season 2021. Another big game between two top sides this week was FISH who managed to clean up Delicious with valleys' boys only remaining in the top four as Summer of George's winning run was sensationally halted by relegation battlers Roosters who chose a good week to turn up and keep their season alive.

The Captain put in a shocker against the REBCats and as a result once again Who is out of the top eight. Each time he goes out it will be harder to get back in as Captain Who has not been scoring well so far this season. Not for the first time Inner Sanctum has clambered back into the top eight after they secured a vital four points against fellow finals aspirant Has Been who has fallen short each time a chance to get into the eight has presented itself. Mediocre at Best and REBCats have woken up a bit in recent weeks and both of these sides are hanging on but Hondo has slipped to a couple of defeats which has seen them start to lose touch with the eight. The Sharks are really struggling now and they've gone from being contenders having a career best season to a team that is starting to look over their shoulders as the relegation battle starts to enter the outskirts of the city.

Speaking of relegation, Hips Don't Lie has pretty much secured a return to Division I as the Bagel in the W column has now gotten well and truly stale as there are now 12 defeats piling up in the inventory. With five games to go and four wins behind 17th, you'd have to think Hippys is gone. Who goes down with them is anyone's guess. Poon is currently stuck in 17th and the loss to REBCats last week could prove costly but a win over Hondo has kept the heat on Poon's neighbours. Meanwhile, Richo Richo, Roosters and REBCats have all discovered some winning form while the Sharks appear to have lost the plot and have a serious case of the stumbles. Has Spiro jumped the Shark or can they swim to safety once again?

While Ecky and FISH are soaring above us, the rest of the teams in Hogg Premier League are fighting it out tooth and nail in an absolute dog eat dog bunfight. With 11 teams scoring over 2300, scoring was well up and you can expect that par score to rise towards the rest of the season. There are six finals spots up for grabs and one relegation spot to be handed to what will be a pretty unlucky coach seeing as the current incumbent Richo is 18 points clear of Hippy who just hasn't got going this season.

Mediocre was anything but this week as they topped the Hogg with 2498 for the week. That meant that Inner Sanctum, despite scoring 2393, lost by over a hundred points and got punted from the top eight for his trouble. Tough old school I can tell you. Mediocre is looking very suave indeed gents with that sort of scoring and they could be a bit of a dark horse come August and one for the top four sides to be watching out for. Wycbloods and Delicious were two other sides to score 2300 and lose with both sides out of the top four and hoping they can get back on the winning list soon with some hungry teams just outside looking to pinch a slice of the August action.

Hondo SCC appears to be the best equipped for a decent run at and in the finals while my REBCats have fought back from 2-7 to somehow return to contention, even if our scoring appears a bit light on to challenge the genuine premiership threats. A few other teams have had the wobbles in scoring lately and one of them is the Q man whose star appears to be fading after a bright start to the season. Watts erased their bye blues in some style with the percentage booster over Hippy and bigger scalps could still fall to Watts before this season is out. The Captain is in peril after dropping yet another match to a team below him and Groover's scoring is on the decline and so is his team as they start to slide down the ladder.

This relegation fight is going to get nasty. With two dominant sides and one side hasn't been able to win in 13 attempts, we've got a real logjam in the middle of the ladder that extends pretty much down to 17th. There's been two draws already this season which shows just how tight this league is. The ability to win the close matches is what could get you into the eight or escape relegation. That draw between Wycbloods and Richo is a case in point. Hippy is gone even if he wins all four so there will be no 11th hour Hippy Hippy Shake that saves his bacon. Down the arse end, Richo started brightly against REBCats but faded as the weekend went on. Meanwhile Poon managed a come from behind win on the weekend which sees them emerge from the primordial swamp, at least for this week. The Roosters recent form has been on the upswing just as the form of the Sharks has gone in the other direction. I think one of Poon, Sharks or Richo are in the gun at the moment but 6 wins won't be enough for the Captain who has to watch his scoring, which looks off the pace in this company.

The Run Home Round 14

It’s that time of year again as I put the kiss of death on the teams above me in the vain hope of fluking my way into the finals for another season. I reckon the top two are untouchable which means the rest aren’t. Here’s version one of how I reckon it might turn out.

1. Ecky’s Fevolas 48 (Bloods, Watts, REBCats, Captain)

Ecky has had a cracking season and deserves to start favourites in all four of these matches. Watts probably the toughest but unless the Eckster does something funky with his eye on a bigger prize then he wins the lot and finishes on top.

2. TEAM_FISH 44 (Watts, REBCats, Captain, Richo)

FISH has had his best season in Premier and that’s a soft run home there. Watts the toughest opponent again but like Ecky, FISH wins them all I think and that’s second spot for Ecky’s main challenger for the flag.

3. Q Before You 34 (Sharks, Sanctum, Hondo, Beeners)

Ok form here it gets tough. Q’s recent form has not been good but Q surely has some tricks up his sleeve. On recent scoring he loses the lot but with the benefit of the doubt given on overall performance I reckon they beat the Sharks and finishes with a win against Has Been. This should be enough for Q to make the top four and a first up final against Ecky.

4. Summer of George 32 (Sanctum, Hondo, Beeners, Mediocre)

That is a tough run home for Georgie boy. Usually when assessing a month ahead you go50-50 where you can when you can’t split them. George had been going beautifully but fell short last week. So it’s 2-1 or 1-2 of those three tough matches. I’ll say they win two with Hondo being the banana skin for George. Three wins and third spot a good result given their slow start. Really tough to pick this one.

5. Watts & Motts 32 (FISH, Ecky, Roosters, Sharks)

If you have the FISH and Ecky double, subtract eight points as they are the standout sides. This is the challenge that faces Watts (and myself FFS) who should win the other two to finish on ten wins. The Roosters will not be a walkover though so that’s a crucial match for Watts. Watts to stay in 5th and play Hondo in the first final in what is a good debut season in Premier.

6. Delicious 30 (Roosters, Sharks, Hondo, Sanctum)

Valleys’ boys have had a solid season but I reckon they might run out of steam here. They’ve got some very tricky fixtures to finish after being slightly off the ball in recent weeks. I reckon they can only pencil in the Sharks and come up short in the rest. Not liking them and I reckon they miss. Have to win this week I feel.

7. Mediocre at Best 28 (Hondo, Beeners, Poon, George)

REB’s crystal ball predicts that Mediocre will get a run on here and win the next three and qualify for the finals. I reckon George might get them in the last round though and that Mediocre will finish 6th and final against Sanctum to start their campaign. A massive match this week against Hondo will go a long way to determining Mediocre’s final spot in the top eight. Beat Hondo and Mediocre is looking at top four.

8. Wycbloods 26 (Ecky, Roosters, Sharks, Sanctum)

I rate the Bloods but they’ve got a couple of tricky fixtures in the last month. I reckon that bloods can beat Roosters and they are going to need to as they have Ecky next week. I can’t see Bloods beating Ecky or Sanctum so that means he finishes half a game outside of the eight. He can thank his bro for that one.

9. REBCats 24 (Hippy, FISH, Ecky, Roosters)

My Catters should win this week against Hippy and I reckon I can knock off the Roosters but we ain’t beating FISH or Ecky so no soup for me this season. I’m more concerned about winning this week and avoiding relegation to be honest. If I can repeat last year’s win against FISH I’m a chance but can’t see it at the moment.

10. Inner Sanctum 24 (George, Q, Delicious, Bloods)

Inner Sanctum has a pretty tough run home so a high scoring loss last round was not what was needed, however, I reckon they are good enough to win all of these games. The real test will be against George this week. You’d think they win three so for me, that’s the last three matches with the Delicious match a virtual elimination final. If you are on 24 you need three wins to get in I reckon and Sanctum is good enough to get there. 7th.

11. Hondo SCC 24 (Mediocre, George, Q, Delicious)

Hondo is coming from a fair way back but like Sanctum, I reckon they can win three of these and sneak into 8th spot ahead of Delicious and Bloods. I reckon what might happen is that they lose this week then win the last three to make it. If they can do that they would face Watts in an Elim final.

12. Captain Who 24 (Richo, Hippy, FISH, Ecky)

The Captain is not in form at the moment but he has two very winnable games to concoct a combination that could challenge the big two at the end of the season. Nine wins won’t get you in and the FISH/Ecky combo will claim another victim here.

Mathematically all the teams on five wins could still make the finals but once you hear the word ‘mathematically’ then you know you are pretty cooked. I rate the Roosters as the best of these teams even though I haven’t tipped them to win many of the matches against the sides above. Last year’s Roosters yes, this year, not so much. These predictions are very harsh on Delicious and of course a slip up by FISH or Ecky changes it up dramatically. If either of these gun sides could pull an absolute Barry Crocker against the Cats, I’d take it. I think Q is in awful form at the minute and that Bloods is very stiff to miss out but Q’s early form was awesome so he should deservedly take his place in the eight.

REB Sez

1 Ecky 64
2 FISH 60
3 George 44
4 Q 42
5 Watts 40
6 Mediocre 40
7 Sanctum 36
8 Hondo 36

The Run Out Round 14

Hips Don’t Lie have already booked their Division I spot next season, but who will join them? Mathematically, there are several teams not on this list that could get the drop but these are the teams at most danger. Here’s what I think will happen in the run out….

13. Has Been 20 (Poon, Mediocre, George, Q)

The Beeners are a bit stiff to be on this list but a win over Poon this week should be enough to take him to safety. If they win all four they can make the eight, lose all four and they might go down. Welcome to the NFL rookie.

14. Roosters 20 (Delicious, Bloods, Watts, REBCats)

The Roosters are the best team currently in the bottom six but they have a pretty tough run home. The Roosters have scored well at times this year but consistency has not been a strong suit. I reckon Roosters escapes the drop by beating Delicious next week but the chooks’ season will then fizzle out.

15. Poon illuminati 20 (Beeners, Richo, Mediocre, Hippy)

Last year’s grand finalist has taken a mighty stumble this year and is in real danger which might have been averted after an upset win over Hondo. Poon’s fate is in his own hands with two winnable games against Richo and Hippy. That Richo game is massive and it’s one Poon simply cannot afford to lose.

16. Sharks 20 (Q, Delicious, Bloods, Watts)

The Sharks’ time in the top flight is running out. The Golden Greek appears to be at least a player short of where he should be and that won’t do against any of the sides he is facing in the run out. Q has been in poor form recently so Sharks will be hoping that poor form continues for another week or they are gone as they aren’t winning the other games.

17. Richo Richo Man 18 (Captain, Poon, Hippy, FISH)

Richo dropped into the danger zone last week but the draw above suggests that he won’t stay there. Richo is scoring similarly to the Captain so that match is a toss of the coin as the match against Poon. They beat Hippy but the big FISH will swallow CoverKing whole. The win against Hippy should be enough to get him home but he could win a few more.

So the death warrant has been issued to the Sharks. This means a recent premier will avoid the drop as will Poon who along with my REBCats are the only other foundation club from the original Premier League of 2007.

REB Sez

15. Roosters 24
16. Richo 22
17. Sharks 20
18. Hippy 0

Nice write up REB. It's gonna be hard for me to get the win over Hondo this week though being a "premo" down. Zac Williams finally posts a decent score after getting a rev up from the media and then gets suspended. Really regret bringing him into my side.

Yep. I had Zilliams too. I lost patience with the dud ages ago. It's always hard to get the win over Hondo, or anyone in this league for that matter. Every win is pretty hard fought.

Off to a flyer in my match against the winless bottom team. 5 points CCJ. Why play him if he's hurt Dimma you arsehat! Lucky I only take a 55 hit on projected there but he's going to get dropped and lose coin. ****.

In a week where 8 teams scored over 2400, it was Mediocre at Best who stole the show with a stunning 112 point win that has put an impressive Hondo's season on life support. With a score of 2441 you are entitled to expect a win and keep your finals hopes alive but Hondo was ruthlessly snuffed out by a professional Mediocre at Best outfit. Hondo wasn't the only coach to score 2400 and get rolled this week. Summer of George scored 2418 but this wasn't enough to defeat an impressive Inner Sanctum who look destined for finals action this season. There was genuine heartbreak for the Sharks whose reward for scoring 2423 was a four point loss that dropped the Sharkies into the relegation zone. Ouch. And here's me thinking that Q Before You was about to put the Q in the rack......not so.

I'm also guilty of underestimating a few other sides that sit above me, wishful thinking perhaps. Watts and Motts managed to hook the big FISH and as a result they pinched George's top four spot and will be keen to hold it with three to play. Delicious also returned to top form with the finals looming. Delicious smashed the Roosters and now it's hard to see valleys' boys from missing the eight from here.

In the relegation battle Hippy made it 14 straight after losing to REBCats and they are running out of time to avoid being the only team in Premier League history not to win a match for the whole season. As mentioned above, Sharks were dead stiff to get rolled by 4 and they are currently down there with Hippys and they might go in through the out door. Poon suffered a narrow loss as well as Has Been came from behind to clinch a vital victory. Not all is lost though for Poon as they have a couple of winnable matches to come. Richo got an invaluable four points at the expense of the struggling captain and Roosters weren't in the hunt against Delicious

The Run Home Round 15

Three matches to go and a couple of sides I thought might have been cooked appear to have rallied considerably. I reckon I have to beat one of the big guns in the next two weeks to stay ahead of Inner Sanctum or Bloods. Sanctum is the better side but that hasn't stopped me before. :)

1. Ecky’s Fevolas 52 ( Watts, REBCats, Captain)

Ecky held on for a solid, high scoring win over Wycbloods who gave a good account of themselves. Ecky's ranking is now outside of the top 200 so the chance of ultimate SC honours may have eluded them. This is bad news for the rest of us as he can now concentrate to defending his title. He's going to be tough to stop for sure.

2. TEAM_FISH 44 (REBCats, Captain, Richo)

FISH reckons luck deserted him last week so let's hope that lady luck doesn't pay a visit this week. Over the entire season FISH has been far superior but the mighty Cats are 5-0 and coming back from 17th on the ladder and have finals aspirations. FISH are safe regardless but would want to put the Cats away.

3. Q Before You 38 (Sanctum, Hondo, Beeners)

A great win by the Qman has really dropped the Sharks in it. Much to Q's delight I'm going to underrate him again so you watch him win all three here ha ha. Hmmm, maybe not, but Q is looking like a top four side but has some tough games to come.

4. Watts & Motts 36 (Ecky, Roosters, Sharks)

A brilliant victory by Watts over FISH ha really opened up the draw for a top four finish by the Premier newbie. Avoiding Ecky in the first week of the finals would be a good result from here and wins over the Roosters and the Sharks would do exactly that.

5. Delicious 34 (Sharks, Hondo, Sanctum)

Delicious made light work of Roosters putting them away like the bottom four side they've been this year. Up next they have 17th ranked Spiro's Sharks who despite scoring over 2400 last week find themselves in the hot seat. The Sharks will be desperate but Delicious have proven themselves up to the task in 2021. As Fonzie almost said...I was wr-wr-wr-wr-WRONG.

6. Summer of George 32 (Hondo, Beeners, Mediocre)

Georgie boy dead still to lose that one considering the score he managed. A few weeks ago they were a team to watch but now they have to find a win against Hondo or Mediocre to make the finals. Neither of those matches look easy so it could be a case of close but so far for George. A very tough run indeed so perhaps Georgie boy will pay the price for a slow start to the season against teams they perhaps should have beaten.

7. Mediocre at Best 32 (Beeners, Poon, George)

Mediocre looking pretty good at the moment but the top four might be out of reach thanks to Watts' upset win over FISH. Georgie boy looking like the tough one in the run home so that will be an interesting clash that I feel George will have to win toe qualify.

8. REBCats 28 (Hippy[FISH, Ecky, [b]Roosters)

The Catters are in the eight but need to beat FISH or Ecky over the next two weeks in order to stay there. I'm more hopeful against FISH than I was a week earlier but I've had an extended winning run that I just don't trust and eventually the scoring will tell. If I beat FISH this week I'll be unbearable!

10. Inner Sanctum 28 (Q, Delicious, Bloods)

A quality performance and a big win to kick off the run home period in a match I was hoping they'd lose as they are probably the team that will get that last top eight spot. All three of those sides are quality but Sanctum are solid gold at the moment. If Q or Delicious could do the job though I'd be delighted.

10. Wycbloods 26 (Roosters, Sharks, Sanctum)

Bloods are stiff to be out of the eight after a quality performance against the top side where they fell just short. I think they can get to 34 but that elusive 9th win will be the worry against Sanctum.

11. Hondo SCC 24 (George, Q, Delicious)

Lost a little faith in Hondo after an unlucky loss. It's not ability but more a sign that this isn't Hondo's hear. Maybe a win against George this week to keep the hopes alive and Q or Delicious to bring the boom down on a frustrating season. Still alive but only just.

Dropped the Captain from the list this week after an upset loss to Richo. The Captain faces Hippy this week and I reckon Hippy are a real chance to break their duck. Hondo couldn't afford the loss last week but they are the lowest ranked side I reckon that can get in.

4 Watts 44

The Run Out Round 15

A massively important win for Richo has them almost to the point of safety while the Sharks scored massively but ended up in the relegation zone. The pressure is on Poon and Roosters big time as we all wait and watch to see who joins Hips Don't Lie in the drop.

14. Richo Richo Man 22 (Poon, Hippy, FISH)

Many of the teams in the relegation scrap scored well this week but unlike the majority, Richo actually won their match. It was a vital four points for CoverKing and they should survive now. The next two matches are key. They play two sides below them on the ladder so it would be a disaster if Richo cocked it up from here.

15. Roosters 20 (Bloods, Watts, REBCats)

The Roosters run home is horrendous. All three of these teams are battling out for the top eight and all are scoring more heavily than the team who defeated them last week. Roosters can do better and must to get that one extra win that should secure safety.

16. Poon illuminati 20 (Richo, Mediocre, Hippy)

Poony looked like they had Has Been last week but they faltered with the finish line in sight. Never mind, they've got Richo and the bottom side Hippy in the last round so they should be ok right? Hmmm...watch this space if they can't get the job done this week.

17. Sharks 20 (Delicious, Bloods, Watts)

Sharks scored massively last week but the four point loss might the result that sends the Sharks back to Division I next season. Three top eight sides to go represent three more chances to put the heat on the Roosters in particular. I think they only need one more but the Sharks have lost that winning feeling. Sharks still on the endangered list.

Updated prediction. Poony is sweating on Richo's improved form. A vital four points in that match next round. I'm tiping Hippy might get the Captain. Poon and Richo should be safe.

SuperCoach inflation has become a very real thing in the Premier League as the contenders in the top flight are getting their final teams together for a tilt at the finals. What is a little strange though is that at this point of time Ecky and FISH appear to have lost their stanglehold on the league over the past couple of weeks. Watts & Motts has had a very strong year (apart from the bye period), so it perhaps not such a shock to see them defeat Ecky and FISH but the REBCats, who were 17th six weeks ago, managed to pull off a major upset over FISH and we are eyeing off the Fevs with some confidence. Could it be my mob of scrubbers are going to make the eight?

Even though the Cats have won six straight, the real story of the league at the moment is the white hot form of Mediocre at Best. Best are absolutely smashing it in recent weeks and no one will relish playing Mediocre next month. I've had enough of losing to em as he is in one of my Big Footy leagues and he cleaned me up there as well as in the premier this year. While Ecky and FISH are a little off the boil that certainly doesn't apply to Mediocre who look a real shot for the flag this season.

Unfortunately for myself and Summer of George, there are a couple of bloody good sides just outside the eight and not all that far outside either. Inner Sanctum are second in scoring and all of the top four sides will be hoping they face each other in a knockout final as they are good enough to play off for the flag all things equal. Wycbloods are going all right as well. Like Sanctum, both sides clocked up 2500 and that puts real heat on teams like REBCats and George who aren't quite at that scoring level at the moment. Hondo are still alive after racking up a lazy 2600 in an effort that was only bettered by Mediocre who are anything but.

The Captain kept his season alive against a luckless Hippy as Captain Who smashed out his biggest score of the year. Hippy is scoring better than a winless side and doesn't deserve a duck egg but he wasn't in the hunt against the Captain who remains alive in season 2021. Richo Richo smashed a suspect Hambone whose Poon illuminati dropped into the red zone by the barest of margins as the Sharks lost in a more impressive fashion. The Roosters aren't safe either on 5 wins but Richo Richo has done enough and they will suit up again in the Premier League next season.

With the inflation rate being what it is, spare a thought for some of the sides that got done this week. First cab off the rank is Has Been. Losing with a score of 2571 is ridiculous. The Beeners were stiffer than Daniel Menzel's knee getting rolled with that score as Mediocre were just too good. Only three teams beat Has Been's score and that result has ended their season. Ouch! Summer of George scored over 2400 but were well beaten by Hondo and a reversal of that result would have shut the door on Hondo this year. FISH were behind all weekend and the loss of Whitfield proved decisive but they were good enough to fight back well late and have yours truly sweating just a little last night.

For teams fighting to avoid relegation it will be a bitter pill to swallow thinking that last week's game didn't provide an invaluable four points. Poon and Roosters both got over 2300 but that wasn't nearly enough. So check your trades lads as the price isn't right, it's only going to get higher.

The Run Home Round 16

Two rounds to go gents and usually you trim teams away but hang on, the Captain has been resurrected from Davey Jones Locker! Yeah he only beat Hippys who are stone motherless but he got that vital percentage boost. I know right, you are just as surprised as I am that I got a prediction wrong..... :D

1. Ecky’s Fevolas 52 (REBCats,Captain)

Did Ecky do too many Sideys chasing the ultimate glory this season? Normally the Eckster is steadily improving with this scoring but that doesn't appear to be happening this year. Is Ecky carrying a few duds at this time of year to keep the powder dry for next month? Ecky is well clear of the pack so there is no real need for him to burn trades as the 50k is now off the table. Um, that was written with more hope than certainty as I badly need the win LOL

2. TEAM_FISH 44 (Captain, Richo)

Two losses in a row to FISH but I'm backing him to win his last two games. The Captain and Richo are no pushovers but I think FISH will be ready to turn around some recent sloppy form and finish in second spot.

3. Watts & Motts 40 (Roosters, Sharks)

Watts is in brilliant form at the moment and that's a pretty soft run with two matches against teams who are battling it out for relegation. I didn't think Watts would beat FISH and Ecky so I reckon they tick the boxes here and earn a well deserved double chance in their first season in the Premier League.

4. Delicious 38 (Hondo, Sanctum)

Delicious' solid season continued on with the expected win over the Sharks but they need to win one or both of the last two matches to retain the double chance spot that they now occupy. Sorry valleys, your mob are good, but Hondo and Sanctum are better IMO.

5. Q Before You 38 (Hondo, Beeners)

Q Man has increased their scoring in the last couple of weeks but overall in the past month or so they appear to be off the pace. That certainly doesn't apply to Hondo and Has Been has shown that they still have the tools to post a large score. The Beeners look done this season so this might open the door if Beeners pulls the pin for any reason but if they are fair dinkum they'll head the Q in the last.

6. Mediocre at Best 36 (Poon, George)

Mediocre are on a massive roll and Q and Delicious and everyone else above are getting nervous. Their scoring has been through the roof and they can get the deck chairs out and still roll a banged up Poon comfortably this week. The heat will be on after that but I reckon Mediocre will be the team to hold the blowtorch.

7. REBCats 32 (Ecky, Roosters)

Well, it's official, I'm unbearable. I gave up this league weeks ago with my eye on avoiding relegation and now I've won six straight. So that's what I've been doing wrong all these years! A stress and trade free approach has somehow being rewarded with a winning streak and I've Bradbury'd my way into 7th. Now I've fooled myself that I'm going to beat the mighty Ecky, which is something I must do or I wont be playing finals.

8. Summer of George 32 (Beeners, Mediocre)

George are suffering through a tough finish to the season and they desperately need a win this week or their season is over. Georgie boy still scoring very nicely but the admission fee to the finals keeps going up and it appears to be just out of George's reach in recent rounds. A win over the unpredictable Beeners would be a shot in the arm and I'm prepared to back them in this week.

9. Inner Sanctum 32 (Delicious, Bloods)

I reckon Inner Sanctum is one of the best sides in the competition so **** knows what they are doing outside of the eight. It will be a major head scratcher if Sanctum somehow misses the eight but they've got two pretty tough matches to finish the year with. I reckon there will be absolutely nothing in that last round match with Bloods in a match that could see those two sides playing off for a spot in the eight.

10. Wycbloods 30 (Sharks, Sanctum)

The Bloods are not flattered by the ladder at all and wycbloods is paying the price for a string of high scoring losses and a draw against his brother Richo earlier in the season. Bloods will get the job done against the Sharks but faces a very difficult last round match up against Sanctum and I reckon he falls just short. He can thank his brother for that one in the end I reckon.

11. Captain Who 28 (FISH, Ecky)

Hang on, where did he come from? A magnificent effort to get the four points and some valuable percentage recovered and the Captain remains in the hunt. He's leapfrogged Hondo but the Captain needs to beat the top two sides to climb over anyone else. I'm writing him off so the Captain will certainly salute me for that one as he always fires whenever I do this. I said Captain? I said Wot you want.

12. Hondo SCC 28 (Q, Delicious)

Like the mythical 'thing that would not leave' made famous by John Belushi on Saturday Night Live, Hondo keeps hanging around like the odor from a half finished curry. Like the curry though, Hondo is hot and I reckon he can win both of these games. Not sure 36 gets him there but they will go real close. It might be too little too late for Hondo this year.
