@Gilligan. I've only set up four leagues set up so far so your mates certainly aren't out of it. What I'm trying to do is get rid of Divvy V so I don't have to do as much admin. At this stage we have a few teams left over. Some of those teams will be invited to join my family league, the Piglet Shield (which usually ranks along with Divvy IV) with the best four to be promoted into Divvy IV as they would if Divvy V was running.

I'm expecting more teams to drop out than join as this is what usually happens. What I'm looking for this year is players that actually play. I don't really want teams that are put in and not looked at until July. If anyone who couldn't be bothered last year drops out, your mates can then go into Divvy IV. You have to remember also that some coaches thought the whole thing was BS because of COVID. We had a couple of very good coaches in the higher leagues not participate, especially after the Melbourne v Essendon debacle. Who knows if they will return to the game.

Divvy V is always the last to get sorted so I haven't punted anyone. If you could send me some email addys though in PM (even for Divvy IV or III mates) that would be great because I have a more than a few blank spaces in my spreadsheet. Anyone not on SA Footy can be really hard to find. Your mates will end up Divvy IV, The Piglet, or if we get a shitload of signups, Divvy V. If the worst comes to the worst we will have a 'Hogg interchange' league so that if anyone wants to play, they can.

Hogg Division IV Preview 2021

This year's Division IV is part Division IV and part Division V after the Hogg finished up about a dozen coaches short of last year. This means that that this league has the potential for being the most lopsided in the Hogg. Harry 'wycjunior' hawks look an unbackable premiership favourite in this league as bloods proved to be as fast with the promotions as he was between the wickets during his cricket days. Last year harryshawks went through the whole season unbeaten which means the mighty hawks are on a 17 game winning streak. This league will be harder than Divvy V was last year but the hawks are the team to beat.

Bison Generics was another side I tried to get into Divvy III so Steve should be one of the main challengers to the hawks. There are several second year players, many of them ladies who I expect to make the eight but perhaps the most likely to earn a promotion is Cathys Cream who displayed some solid form last season. If I had to pick a bolter in this league it could come from an unlikely source in Unrealistic Attempt. Morgs won the Division V comp in 2019 and despite an ordinary finishing score they showed some solid form last year. In this company I'm expecting Morgs in his third year to make some real progress.

The stragglers look fairly easy to spot here. Brettsrazorbacks is a regular contender for the Mighty Eags award for the worst coach in the Hogg being a regular in the bottom two. This year Bretty looks a good bet to tail the field again and prove himself to be a bye even in Division IV. Stu's Go Tigers are another struggling combination who appear to be unlikely to make their mark and Brod jnrs Sneaky Turtles will need to find some run to keep up with the pack.

The youngster harryshawks have created Hogg history by winning their 18th straight match with their last loss coming back in 2019 Div V finals series. The hawks aren't scoring all that well yet but have continued on from last year's winning streak. Bison got the bye first up and Steve really rubbed it in with a massive 721 point victory over the spoon favourite razorbacks. All sides will be looking for a percentage boost when they play Bretty, whose Razorbacks have nine donuts already in their team somehow as he slowly trades away his donuts.

There are a few sides currently out of the eight who look likely to make it with Liams Layabouts winning narrowly and Chokin tuna and King Cobwebs scoring well but losing in the first round. Go Tigers put in an unexpectedly good first round showing seeing as they were bottom four in the lowest division last year so they might be one of the teams that can hold it's round one ranking.

It's only round two but could it be that the top eight has been decided in this league already? There is a case for Brodlach in particular as Go Tigers has never put together a solid season but Stewie has made a pretty solid start here even though he was unluckily beaten on the weekend. The top seven sides remain unbeaten after two so this league could be all about who gets the double chance with more than a few wobbly sides already down here.

The top two sides look very strong already but Squeaky turtles and Unrealistic Attempt could be genuine challengers. At the arse end of the ladder nothing will stop the Razorbacks from retaining the Mighty Eagles memorial trophy for the worst team in the Hogg as he miles behind the next worst, West Coast Wonders and Bikers babes.

This round in Divvy IV action saw the end of the longest winning streak in Hogg history as harryshawks suffered their first defeat since the semi final weekend of 2019. Harry had won 19 consecutive matches before crashing to defeat at the hands of the giant slayer Robsquad. The true giant just may be King Cobwebs who scored a freakish 2369 to smash an unlucky Brod who with 2197 would have cleaned up a lot of teams in higher divisions with that score. The SuperCoach gods are petty and cruel but unluckily for us no Lucy Lawless to come to the rescue.

Another slow starter to announce themselves this week was Cathy’s cream who carded a respectable 2212 to cook the Sneaky Turtles. Unrealistic Attempt remained unbeaten as they continue on with their career best season while Bison, Layabouts and Powerfailure all continued on untroubled for another week.

The Big 4 in this Division tightened their hold on the competition with solid wins to remain unbeaten after four rounds. Most impressive of these was Unrealistic Attempt who racked up an impressive 2322 to record a massive 500 point win over the stragglers Razorbacks who scored their best score of the year to no avail. Attempt has Duncan and Guthrie so they will be a massive force when Geelong get their home game kills. PowerFailure is another strong premiership fancy and they got amongst the points as well with a solid 2285. Another strong performer for the round was Robsquad who are starting to get stronger and stronger each week and were rewarded with a top eight spot.

It's a fairly lop sided league so far with four unbeaten and three yet to win so you wouldn't want to be dropping too many matches if you are looking at promotion. Already you can rule a line through about five sides although who knows what Chokin Tuna are up to. The fish are the most inconsistent side in the Hogg scoring really well one week before bottoming out totally the next. The winner of this week's 'any stiffer and they'd be dead' award goes to Brodlach Bombers and Red Devils who scored over 2100 but missed out on the four points.

Bison Generics won the match of the round against the Sneaky Turtles and his reward was to lose top spot after Unrealistic Attempt who absolutely spifflicated Biker Babes by over 500 points. It was a cnut of a week in SuperCoach for all of us so we don't expect the coaches in Division IV to raise to any great heights on weeks such as these but someone forgot to supply the script to @rd as his Robsquad racked up an impressive 2117 which would have been enough to take care of most Hoggs this week. Awesome effort rd and the squad has now consolidated their spot in the top eight.

With the Turtles unable to bridge the gap the top four have snuck away from the field and they now have a two game gap after five rounds. A couple of battling sides managed wins amidst the carnage with the most deserving being Brodlach Bombers who have been copping rough scores against for most of the season. That didn't happen against the bottom side so the Bombers are now back in the hunt at 2-3. Giants Legends somehow got an upset win over top eight Go Tiges while the West Coast Wonders went up one spot after opening their account at the fifth attempt.

Spare a thought for harryshawks who have now dropped three on the spin after setting a Hogg record for consecutive wins and Red Devils who missed out on what would have been a significant victory over unbeaten PowerFailure by a mere six points. Ouch.

It's been a bit of a lopsided comp so far in Divvy IV but this week saw a few cracks appearing in sides that have so far not put a foot wrong. The biggest result was the big win by in form Sneaky Turtles who got the better of PowerFailure and bucked the league trend of not bouncing back after a poor scoring round last week. The Turtles were one of the best sides in the league this week and the Power had no answers. Liams Layabouts also lost their first game as a rash of injuries and the Red Devils were too much to overcome in their round six match. Bison Generics marched to the top of the table after smashing the suddenly out of form Go Tigers as previous league leaders Unrealistic Attempt had an unconvincing win over battlers Fantasy Virgin.

Other sides to make progress in a week when some of the top sides did not were Robsquad who have now strung a few wins together and are sitting comfortably in 5th and Brodlach Bombers who have started winning matches to challenge the top eight. Harryshawks ended their losing run against Razorbacks who are on the improve and are now playing well enough to avoid the spoon. Bretty has traded out his donuts and now appears to be a competitive unit in this division so I expect a win soon for the razorbacks.

Two other sides out of the eight in Cathy's Cream and King Cobwebs got back on the winners list which was a must seeing as it might be a high be a high pass mark to make the eight in this division. Bison and Unrealistic looking good things for the Grand Final at this early stage.

It was an amazing round of SuperCoach in Round 7 as four matches in this division were decided by under ten points with no less than three two-point margins occurring in the round. The youngster harryhawks was the big winner as they were one of the few sides to rack up a percentage boosting win after cleaning up struggling Biker Babes by 150 points. Back in town are the hawks as are the Layabouts hitting back to burst Sneaky Turtles' bubble.

The winners of the close ones can breath a deep sigh of relief as Go Tiges got themselves a decent upset win over the fancied PowerFailure and top side Bison Generics avoiding the upset against Cathy by a mere nine points. West Coast Wonders managed to keep their season alive after cleaning up the Legends and the King Cobwebs ruled by two over Chokin tuna. Robsquad and Brodlach Bombers continued with their recent run of form and Red Devils remained in the eight after Unrealistic Attempt had an absolute shocker to suffer their first defeat of the season.
