JOBBY has had a rare slip in his Division I campaign this year as Alaska's Coro Crocs scored the victory in last weekend's match of the round. A win over the league leaders at this stage of the season means that the Crocs' have almost secured the double chance that you need for a genuine crack at promotion into the Premier League, or in the Crocs' case, back into the premier league. In this league the ladder is all over the place. Teams like The Willies, PorterGUNS and Petracca's Picnics that looked like certain finalists not that long ago are no scrambling a little with only The Willies still in the eight.

Meanwhile, teams like Eddieslittleindians and Jay Jocks have resurrected their season and now they are genuine top eight contenders. Cowpokes had a wonky period and they are back in the hunt also although they did slip up this week. In the relegation battle it looked like Crows and Crowmag were gonners but both sides have fought hard to stay in this league and now it's The Dukes who are suddenly in the red zone. Hips Don't Lie and Jims TigerRoos have found something when needed so now it is anyone's guess who goes down to Division II next year.

Teams looking good at the moment are still JOBBY despite his loss, Coro Crocs and the ultra-consistent Pool Swimmers. Yet another former Premier League team Poon Army is also sneaking along a bit under the radar as they made light work of Cub's Petracca's Picnic. Buckets are looking pretty good too so I reckon there might be a maximum of two spots up for grabs, but only one if The Willies can turn around his recent mini-slump.

Grand finalists to Premier league, bottom two relegated.

18 The Dukes 4 12 34512 35219 97.99 16

Jims TigerRoos have had a pretty ordinary season but all that was washed away in one glorious weekend as Jim's boys smashed Professor Crow and topping the entire Hogg in the process. In a competition when quite often it's the teams fighting the relegation battle that provide the highlights it was a vital win for Mythical Creature. Another side fighting to stay up is Crowmagnion who is starting to look like a Divvy I side at least...but can they survive the drop. Form wise it's The Dukes (who looked safe a few weeks back) and my BIL Dale whose Cobras are stinking it up but Adelaide Crows havent' done enough to put the pressure on the snakes. Moving forward The Dukes look gone as a match up against Coro Crocs does not look like a percentage builder to me. Adelaide Crows have 8th ranked Jays Jocks who have been a bit up and down this season. Crows need this one or it's night night for them. Cobras are experts at avoiding the drop and even though they've been stinking up the place and play the mighty JOBBY in the last round, I reckon it might be the Crows who join The Dukes in Divvy I next year.

Meanwhile, there is a premiership to be won. JOBBY has been the best side all year but in recent weeks the GOAT's scoring appears to have dropped away a bit which would embolden the other challengers. Coro Crocks and Pool Swimmers will finish strongly and Poon Army, who I haven't written much about this year, will be pretty keen to get back into the top flight next season at this first opportunity. My lad and my uncle (Petracca and Porter GUNS) might have run out of puff (well Picnic certainly has) and PorterGUNS has come up short against Poon Army already this season so I reckon the eight we have now are the eight teams that will play off for the flag and Premier next month.

bottom two teams relegated to Hogg Division II

Finals

Qualifying Finals
JOBBY THE GOAT vs. Eddieslittleindians
Pool Swimmers vs. Coro Crocs

winners through to Preliminary Finals

Elimination Finals
Poon Army vs. The Willies
Cowpokes vs. Buckets

losers eliminated

It's a lot different looking comp after the last round as Jays Jocks couldn't match Adelaide Crows. This meant the Crows stay up as their win and Cobras' loss sees the Snakes go down with The Dukes who said goodbye with an upset win over Coro Crocs. Poon Army dropped their crucial clash to PorterGUNS but it was The Willies who came from absolutely nowhere with their first win in five weeks to steal eighth spot. Tough luck for Porters.

Reckon it's going to be hard for the rest to prevent JOBBY and Pool Swimmers from going up to Premier from here.

Finals Week 1

Qualifying Finals
JOBBY THE GOAT 2470
Eddieslittleindians 2428

Pool Swimmers 2455
Coro Crocs 2395

Elimination Finals
Poon Army 2488
The Willies 2297

Cowpokes 2450
Buckets 2397

Semi Finals
Eddieslittleindians vs. Poon Army
Coro Crocs vs. Cowpokes

The two top sides have duly won through to the Preliminary finals and are one step closer to Premier League elevation. It was 2400 or bust and in some cases it was 2400 hundred and bust and this week's semi finals are harder to pick than a broken nose. Poon has an awfully hard road to get back into premier and his run will probably end against Eddie but I reckon Cowpokes can send out the Crocs in straight sets. Having said that the exact opposite of those results would not surprise.

Preliminary Finals

1st Preliminary Final
JOBBY THE GOAT 2494
Cowpokes 2335

2nd Preliminary Final
Poon Army 2402
Pool Swimmers 2389

Congratulations to flag favourite JOBBY THE GOAT and Poon Army who only spent the one season in Division I before being promoted back into the Premier League. JOBBY has been the standout all season and for the majority of the year Pool Swimmers looked the challenger. Problem is, someone forgot to tell @hambone this as the mighty Poon won their second close final in as many weeks. As brave as Poony has been however, it's hard to see them overcoming JOBBY for the flag next week.

Grand Final Preview

JOBBY THE GOAT has been the colossus of this division this year with daylight pretty much second. The main challenger was Pool Swimmers but a plucky Poon Army upstaged the favourite to return to the Premier League one year after being demoted. Both sides have had recent grand final experience but Poon is the only flag winner here, the very first Hogg flag all the way back in 2007.

The uniques make it look like an easy JOBBY win but Poon will welcome back Mitch Duncan. Duncan against West Coast at Cat Park is a huge upgrade on the Junior Burger but Hammo also has to hope that Saad is fit enough to ton up and that McCartin, Ridley and Goldstein don't spud up. JOBBY will be sweating on Zerrett not drawing the tag which I don't think happens against an aggressive Richmond and Zorko, Short and Conigs aren't exactly a sure bet. The Marshall selection could be the decisive one as I reckon Cameron is cooked as a scoring option and I don't think he tons up. That one match up along could be worth 60-70 for GOAT alone. I reckon that's the margin and a few more.

My tip - JOBBY THE GOAT by 83 pts.

Grand Final

JOBBY THE GOAT 2511
Poon Army 2287

JOBBY was a long way ahead of the rest in this competition and so it proved in the end as the GOAT romped to a 224 point win the Division I Grand Final. Poon had been doing a fair old Collingwood impersonation throughout the latter half of the year as they kept getting over the line by small margins. In the end class won out and the mystifying omission of Duncan and the ongoing omission of Hewitt was always going to make it tough for Poon to bridge the gap. Don't worry Hammo, there are plenty of floggings coming up next year when you are back in Premier League, might as well get in early.
