SuperCoach email invites for this division have been sent to those coaches who I have an email address for. Please join our Hogg Shield SuperCoach group as it makes it easier to sort out next year's Hogg and gives you a chance to play against the rest. Code for the group is 623573.

Hogg Division I 2022 Seeded List

1 eddieslitleindians MAY-Z 51388
2 The Dukes Tight_Lines 51279
3 Pool Swimmers Tom 50536
4 JOBBY THE GOAT Scud 50117
5 Buckets Buckets 49896
6 Porter Guns Unky B 49639
7 Petracca's Picnic Cub 49066
8 Professor Crow SCD 48881
9 Jims TigerRoos Mythical Creature 48736
10 Crowmagnon David J 48545
11 Adelaide Crows Raymond 48482
12 Jays Jocks Jason 48474
13 Coro Crocs Alaska 48472
14 Poon Army Hambone 48390
15 The Willies brod 48008
16 cobras Dale G 47482
17 Hips Don't Lie Scott L 46868
18 Cowpokes Alaska Jnr 46780

Usually when the number one team in the Hogg gets promoted your league gets easier yeah? Babow. Welcome back eddieslittleindians who would be in Hogg Premier tonight if they hadn't farnargled their admin this time last year. The indians jump straight back into their old league and as the number one seed to boot. I'd expect a big improvement in the rankings for this league after a couple of pretty duddy sides went down to Divvy II. An interesting side in this league is Hips Don't Lie. Despite being ranked a lowly 17th on these numbers it would not surprise if Hips bounces back as a top four team in this league as they have traditionally done well in Division I after being relegated from Premier. Hippys are the yo yo team in the Hogg and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back again.

The Dukes and JOBBY renew acquaintances after a strong rivalry in Division II two years ago and both teams are heavy scorers and will be competitive once again. The jury must be out on Porter Guns and Petracca's Picnic. Both of these teams dominated the minor round last year at this level but both went missing when it mattered and they line up in Division I yet again. At the arse end my brother in law Cobras must be on thin ice. Dale showed a bit last year but fell short but his standard Division I season is battling to avoid relegation. He might not be so lucky this year. Cowpokes also had a mighty struggle last year and with Mafia and Hawkers gone it will be that much tougher to stay at this level. My mate Hammo got himself relegated from Premier so we will see if the real Troy stands up. It was only a few years ago that Poon was in the Premier League grand final.

At this level the season average is 48947 or 2128 a week as the par score. I think this year this league does better than that. Game on!

Week One

1 Jims TigerRoos 2490
2 Hips Don't Lie 2374
3 JOBBY THE GOAT 2351
4 The Willies 2329
5 Pool Swimmers 2316
6 The Dukes 2295
7 Professor Crow 2290
8 Jays Jocks 2286
9 cobras 2286
10 Porter Guns 2282
11 Cowpokes 2278
12 Poon Army 2262
13 Coro Crocs 2246
14 Petracca's Picnic 2240
15 Buckets 2233
16 eddieslitleindians 2151
17 Crowmagnon 2148
18 Adelaide Crows 2071

What a start in Division I with an amazing 15 teams racking up 2200 this week. They've outscored the Premier League in the first week of the Hogg with @Mythical Creature's Jims TigerRoos topping the Hogg with a muscular 2490 which has left us all wallowing in his wake. Ah, I do love a good wallow, particularly at the start of every SuperCoach season. Hips Don't Lie has lived up to my pre-season prediction of him being a major force in this league. He was always better than his shocking effort in Premier League last year and guaranteed gents Scotty will be a massive handful this season.

JOBBY has started well but @Scud is nothing if not consistent. He will be another force as well. The Pool Swimmers and @Tight_Lines' The Dukes are highly placed but perhaps the big surprise was the number one seed in the Hogg this year, eddieslittleindians finishing relatively low in the pecking order so @MAY-Z beware.

Week Two

1 JOBBY THE GOAT 4947
2 Porter Guns 4764
3 Pool Swimmers 4662
4 Professor Crow 4640
5 Jays Jocks 4639
6 The Willies 4602
7 Jims TigerRoos 4582
8 cobras 4567
9 eddieslitleindians 4563
10 Hips Don't Lie 4551
11 The Dukes 4549
12 Cowpokes 4539
13 Buckets 4526
14 Crowmagnon 4517
15 Petracca's Picnic 4486
16 Poon Army 4428
17 Adelaide Crows 4409
18 Coro Crocs 4388

On the eve of the war JOBBY has done a mighty pre-season flex with a thumping 2596 which enough to bully anyone in the Hogg this weekend. JOBBY'S Jiant score gives him a hefty buffer over the nearest competitor Porter Guns who dominated in this league until the finals started and it all went to shit. A couple of last week's big scorers seemed to have had the week off so JOBBY aside it's difficult to see who the contenders might be this early in the piece. The match of the day in the first round is the number one seed eddieslittleindians vs. JOBBY THE GOAT. One of these highly ranked sides is starting the season off with the big L and on this season's numbers that appears to be the Indians.

Ol mate @hambone was a bit unlucky to get relegated from Hogg Premier League and he'll certainly need his fair share of luck this year to get back into the top flight. Judging by Round 1's result he is not exactly off to a flyer on that score as he recorded the second highest score in the league but lost to the bloke who got the highest. Man there is nothing worse than that. The Cobras aren't anyone's idea of a power side in Division I and I think I might have tipped Dale for the drop but he's not having any of that and he literally couldn't have started the season better.

Meanwhile JOBBY is once again walking the walk after he spent the early years of his Hogg career just talking the talk as he got stuck in Division II. Full credit to @Scud's boys though as at the moment JOBBY is indeed the GOAT and the premier coach in the Hogg to date. This week he features in the match of the round JOBBY THE GOAT vs. Buckets. Buckets has started very well as have The Dukes, Pool Swimmers and Cowpokes. The only sides who don't appear to be in form yet are the two sides that dominated the Division last year in Petracca's Picnic and Porter Guns. Eddieslittleindians are also a surprise bottom four team but to be fair they faced a red hot JOBBY in the first round.

It's a cracking pace boys and the league ranking of 905 is a top rank for Divvy I. I don't think this league has attained that rank before so congratulations class of 2022, you're the best.

17 Petracca's Picnic 0 2 4195 4467 93.91 0
18 Eddieslittleindians 0 2 4273 4645 91.99 0

Five teams might have made a breakaway unbeaten group in Division I but the big story this week was former Premier League Poon Army who carded a massive 2434 to smash the unlucky indians to leave @MAY-Z stranded on the bottom of the ladder after two rounds. This round is possibly the most impressive result for Poon in his Hogg career since he won the inaugural Hogg Premier title all the way back in 2007. All of a sudden @hambone looks the part and will have one eye on being re-admitted to the top flight next year.

Another side that did a bit better than the standard 2100-2200 range was Tom whose Pool Swimmers have risen to the top shelf with a solid 2308 which sunk the TigerRoos who have headed south after a bright pre-season. While Petracca's Picnic haven't hit back, PorterGUNS did and it was a key win over The Dukes which has got the GUNS back in the firing line.

Full credit also to my BIL Dale who has the Cobras within striking distance of the leaders JOBBY who is still the GOAT in the rankings. Cobra is a dead set trade burner so additional trades could make a big difference for the Snakes. Looking forward, the match of round 3 is the much improved Cowpokes vs. Professor Crow. The winner of that will be 3 zip and looking pretty solid.

17 Adelaide Crows 0 3 6505 6700 97.09 0
18 Eddieslittleindians 0 3 6433 6882 93.48 0

It was a cracking round of SuperCoaching in this extremely competitive league with four matches being decided by ten points or less. Cowpokes were the bigger winners of those who fell over the line this week as that makes it three out of three for the pokers as they had too much class for the professor. The Willies were in by six over Pooly while Buckets bailed themselves out with a nine point win over an unlucky Poon. Hips gave the TigerRoos the shake as they pouched an important victory.

JOBBY is still the GOAT and he's certainly walking the walk this year. I'm praising him up every week and even my kiss of death can't stop his blistering start to the season. The @Scud looks set to fire this year and is a man on a mission. Cobras is a side I'd never pick for line honours in this company but despite a dodgy Captaincy call on the weekend, Dale retained that winning feeling.

My lad Cubby got off the mark against my uncle PorterGUNS in an icebreaker that was most welcome. Porters have had a couple of missteps now this season and one of the power teams from last year is faltering early. The standard of this league this year is insane so spare a thought for those teams that remain winless. Jim and Adelaide Crows have scored very well at times but have yet to break their duck. Crowmagnon has struggled a bit at this level and continues to do so but poor old Eddieslittleindians have coughed up 6882 in three games. Even at his best form he'd be struggling to cover that.

Looking ahead to this week the standout match is Buckets vs. Coro Crocs . With the top sides all appearing to be strong favourites for their respective matches, this match up between two top eight sides is your typical eight point match. Coro has the percentage but Buckets looks the most backable bet for me to go to 3-1 and to keep up with the Joneses in this record breaking Division I. (Rank 439)

17 Eddieslittleindians 1 3 8605 9033 95.26 4
18 Crowmagnon 0 4 8445 8689 97.19 0

The unbeaten Cowpokes were underperfoming, but where hanging on in their match against Petracca's Picnic. Then, on the Monday, the newly traded in Callum Mills smashed out a double century and Picnic was the winner! It's the best mid-season POD selection I can think of and Cowpokes must be shaking their heads wondering just how they lost that match. JOBBY came a cropper as well. Stuggling Jims TigerRoos pulled off the massive upset to knock JOBBY of their perch with a 42 point victory.

The result of a massive weekend of carnage was that we now have seven teams on three wins one defeat. Low scoring Coro Crocs are currently in the eight but appear to be extremely vulnerable with plenty of good sides snooping outside the eight including Dukes, Poon, Petracca and Porter GUNS. Meanwhile it was better news for MAY-Z as his Indians finally claimed a win after bringing up the rear so far this season. That honour now goes to Crowmagnon who are now the only side yet to rack up a win.

The match of the round this week is Pool Swimmers vs. Professor Crow . JOBBY is up against The Willies (so many jokes so little time) but this match will be closer I think as I reckon JOBBY will be all over The Willies and bang there it is folks :). Should be a cracking round with this league really starting to sort itself out.

18 Crowmagnon 0 5 10825 11111 97.43 0

SuperCoach went large last weekend and in Round 5 the Cubman announced he was back with a 2561 which stunned his Uncle Cobras who tumbled out of the top eight on the back of a heavy loss. Buckets continued to top the league after an impressive win over The Dukes who struggling to keep up this season as they dropped to 1-4 which is 'where is our next win coming from' territory.

The Pool Swimmers got the job done in the match of the round as the professor had a stumble. JOBBY made light work of The Willies while Poon, Hips Don't Lie and PorterGUNS all recorded vital wins. Cubby's improved recent form has seen him graduate to match of the day status. Petracca's Picnic vs. Jays Jocks is the game of the round with the inform Cub looking to re-establish himself in the top four. I reckon he exposes his opposition while the jocks are dropped.

18 Crowmagnon 0 6 12837 13387 95.89 0

JOBBY is top gun once again after a pitiless flogging of last placed Crowmagnon. It was a different story entirely for Buckets who briefly led the way as they suffered a 4 point heartbreaker at the hands of PorterGUNS. Petracca's Picnic took care of Jays Jocks who tumbled down the ladder and down the scoring table as well in what was a poor weekend for the Jocks. The resurrection of former Premier League outfit Hips Don't Lie continued on with a strong performance against the Professor as Hippy stole their top eight spot. Loving the work of the Pool Swimmers who scored very well to win a high quality contest against Cowpokes who remain locked out of the top eight.

Meanwhile, Eddieslittleindians won back to back wins while Jims TigerRoos and The Dukes also began the long road back with much neeeded wins. Already things are looking grim for Crowmagnon who can't buy a win and the Adelaide Crows who don't look much of a threat so far this season. This weekend the match of the round is The Willies vs. Coro Crocs with The Willies travelling nicely and Coro Crocs clinging to a top eight spot. I reckon Willies will get the job done and a spot in the top eight will open up for one of the chasing pack.

18 Crowmagnon 0 7 14863 15542 95.63 0

Schools in for JOBBY who were cleaned up by the Professor who caned the Goat and knocked them off the top of the ladder. Meanwhile, former Premier side Pool Swimmers boogied right in and they'd have one eye on returning to the top flight as they lead the comp after seven rounds. Leading this early doesn't mean Premier League as Petracca and PorterGUNS could tell you but both of these teams are once again back in the top four after slow starts to the season.

Coro Crocs refuse to budge from the top eight and once again as soon as I write em off they fight back with a solid win. Cobras, Poon Army and Jims TigerRoss all bagged vital wins while teams such as The Dukes and Jays Jocks are suddenly struggling to get any momentum into their season. Crowmag look like they are in all sorts of trouble while the Adelaide Crows are scoring well which hasn't quite translated into victories. When sides as good as Eddieslittleindians and The Dukes aren't winning, you know you've got a bloody good league on your hands.

This week the match of the round is Petracca's Picnic vs. Pool Swimmers with the Cub the underdog against the new ladder leaders. I'm not sure how Cub is winning with the side he has and I reckon Pooly should be too strong this week.

Petracca's Picnic proved they belonged in premiership calculations as they won a hard fought contest against the former ladder leaders Pool Swimmers. Cub's narrow win in the high scoring contest knocked Tom off the top of the ladder and paved the way for the return of JOBBY to first spot. Meanwhile, Porter Guns maintained their top four ranking in a less than impressive win that was somewhat mirrored by Coro Crocs.

The Willies and Cobras won it in Petraccas and JOBBY style with Cobras being one of the big improvers in this division over the past two seasons. Cobras were one of those sides you wouldn't back with someone else's money in Division I but Dale, a well known trade burner is enjoying the 2022 game conditions and is making a genuine nuisance of himself in this division this year. Even Dale can't burn 35 trades but if anyone can it's him. A couple of lower ranked sides in Jays Jocks, Eddieslittleindians and Poon Army managed vital wins with Professor Crow's loss against Poon a major disaster. Poon had four regulars on the bench and should have been punished last weekend but the Professor failed his exams much to Poon's relief.
It's starting to look like a long season for the bottom two sides. Adelaide Crows are highly competitive but can't buy a win while Crowmagnon is in a world of hurt and look certain to be relegated at this stage.

There are a couple of huge matches this week. Petracca's Picnic vs. Buckets is a big match but for me the key match and the match of the round is The Willies vs. PorterGUNS. Porters have been a bit unconvincing of late and this week represents The Williies' opportunity to snatch a top four place. I can't have Coro Crocs as a top four side, they just don't score enough but if Willies get the job done here I reckon they can earn that double chance. A loss here put them a couple behind the pace and that might prove difficult to bridge that gap. I'm backing the Willies to get the job done against a spluttering Porters.

18 Crowmagnon 1 9 20939 21914 95.55 4

JOBBY consolidated top spot in the first bye round with a comfortable win over second ranked Pool Swimmers in what was a strong performance by this division. There were a number of close games and one of them might prove to be a pretty costly loss for my brother in law Cobras. With all of the other top sides getting the points this week, Cobras 20 point loss to fellow contenders The Willies saw them tumble out of the eight. Been a strong scorer the Snakes in this Divvy but still find themselves out of the top eight.

Petracca's Picnic managed to stumble over the line in unconvincing fashion while The Dukes more impressive nine point win could be the four points that keeps The Dukes in this division. It was another poor round for the two teams in the relegation zone with Adelaide Crows scoring well but still getting belted by a rampant Buckets while Crowmagnon spilled to another heavy defeat at the hands of top eight PorterGUNS. Even though the gap is only two matches plus percentage, I don' t think Jim or Dukes need to do too much more in order to consign the current two to the drop.

Poon Army and Eddieslittleindians look to be teams on the rise and this week it is Poon Army vs. Pool Swimmers in the Divvy I match of the round. Pool Swimmers were found out a bit last week and unfortunately for Tom, @Hambone is playing me in our family league and he has been preparing for this round for months. With this in mind I'm expecting Poon Army to be on the march this week.

18 Jims TigerRoos 3 9 25111 26038 96.44 12

The Crocs might have been a strong fashion statement once upon a time but on the weekend it was the Coro Crocs who made the bigger statement after they stunned the highly rated Pool Swimmers in the big match of Division I in Round 12. The Crocs have gone from a maybe finals team to a team that has one toe in the Premier League after they climbed to second spot on the ladder. JOBBY remains top of the pile after they fought of a challenge from Petraccas Picnic with the Cub suddenly struggling just a little bit.

The Willies scored an ugly but vital win over Buckets which sets them up for a top four spot even though both sides appear to be very undermanned during this bye round. Poon Army is looking good and a likely finalist while Professor Crow and the Cowpokes were also thrown a bit of a lifeline. The relegation battle has hotted up immensely over the bye period with Adelaide Crows clambering out of the relegatioin zone as Jims TigerRoos have sunk to rock bottom. Even Crowmagnion got a win as they stopped Eddieslittleindians' recent run in a 9 point squeaker.

Now that the byes are over everyone can get serious and the big match this round is JOBBY THE GOAT vs. Poon Army. Like the sportsbet ad, probably not for Poon, there's been a few injuries....all right then back to the island you go. JOBBY to win.

18 Crowmagnon 3 10 27026 27811 97.18 12

Eddieslittleindians are back in town! Earlier in the season they looked a genuine relegation chance but look at them now in the top eight and a side that none of the others would enjoy facing in August. Another big winner were the Cowpokes who knocked off the Cobras and might have ended their finals chances with the winners still on the outside and looking in. Jays Jocks also scored a good win but they are still amongst the battlers. No way am I talking up JOBBY for the 19th time this season and ho hum another win for Coro Crocs, Pool Swimmers, and and Buckets too.

When you consider the relegation battle, we can say something we haven't been able to say for awhile and that is the Adelaide Crows are on fire. Gone for all money a few weeks ago, the Crows are now sitting in 14th and look a good thing to avoid the drop now. It was a big win over The Willies who turned in a flaccid performance to droop with the top four in sight. Another top eight side got the staggers as well as a wobbly Petracca's Picnic got upstaged by last placed TigeRoos who jumped out of the relegation zone as Hips Don't Lie could not keep up with the mighty Crocs.

Match of the round is JOBBY THE GOAT vs. Coro Crocs. JOBBY has been the dominant side in this division all year long while the Crocs just keep on getting the job done. If the Crocs can overcome the mighty GOAT then it looks like @Alaska is a genuine chance to return to the Premier League. For now though, that ambition will have to wait as I expect JOBBY's reign to continue.

Hopefully I can get the game time right this week...not like last week when my confusion about time zones left Oliver and Neale on the bench and Gawn untraded

Very close game with Jobby, the Zork crashing being the difference, with what I Hope was a sign of things to come, As when I was doing well previously I often relied on the wizard getting me out of trouble. Jobby still has an extra keeper, but I still have trades so I am hopeful of staying in touch.
