Rik E Boy wrote:Greetings sports fans and up to round 9 already. Unless you've made every post a winner this season (which means you've probably already flogged Straycat Strut or the REBCats), then you are probably like me, seemingly a week behind every opponent because of an error made earlier in the season. My dumbarse of the year nomination goes to my genius move of trading out Max Gawn when he was on the bubble. Shit scared of dropping the cash I brought in English...great move as he got 150 straight away.

After two sub tons, I figured that Maxy was going to leak cash in a massive way and that the youngster Jackson was going to gobble up his points. Naturally, seeing as I traded the big galoot out, he started tonning up like no one's business. However, a man learns from his mistakes so I after English failed to get up for the third straight week I bit the bullet and brought Maxy back....who promptly failed to score a 100 for the third time in as many appearances for the REBCats. FFS Maxxy give a relegation battler a break!

So I hereby tender my heartfelt apologies to all of your Maxxy owners out there. It seems the Demon giant can carry everything.....except the REBCats. That's a bridge too far. Prick.

regards,

REB

Gawn is under an injury cloud this week, had scans on a knee which apparently was OK

Evening all.

More carnage ahead Hoggsters. Young defenders Gibcus and Nodriscall are out with the Docker rookie out for 6 weeks. He will be a popular out this week. Hewitt has been named but only on an extended bench. Unless youre keen on Rory Thompson its looking like ugrades in the backline if you are moving on the missing or thinking of offloading SDK or Paddy.

In the mids the DPP Rioli and Hamilton are on the bubble as is Carroll of the Blues. Clark looks the better scorer but he has only played the 1 game and the Eagles have Leprosy so absolute roulette with them this year. JHF, Titchell and Ward are all out so one of them or the underwhelming Rachelle could be moved on to build up your bank or upgrade a defender.

In the Ruck English is crook which means you've held him for nothing. I reckon the big man will take awhile to get back to what he was producing before and he may not get there. If you have the cash you might opt for Darcy as a relative POD if you trust Hodor's fitness. The Crows have finally worked out ROB is trash so off to the trade table you go if you have him. Preuss still looks a reasonable get even if you've missed that train and all of a sudden Goldy is going large with Xerri crossed out. Ladhams might have jumped the shark as well seeing as Hickey is back this week.

Not much carnage in the forwards, but big concern for many is the ongoing shitness of the softest man alive Zak Butters. He will be in the last chance saloon for many of even the most patient coaches but with worries at the back most will hold. Some are thinking of moving on Cogs but you might as well hold there and see if the new coach gives him more mid time. Rioli and Hamilton once again loom large and look like better upgrades on anyone who jumped on Curtis or Rosas.

Weĺl, its goodnight from me, and its goodnight from him. Happy Hogging.

Been holding Grundy for the last 2 weeks as I wanted to go straight to English. Had the luxury of seeing what Sam Hayes scores were prior to Collingwood games the last 2 weeks but with the pies playing tonight and English still out I'm going to have to bring in Witts or Darcy. Tough decision, reckon Darcy has a larger ceiling but is a bit fragile.
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.

Not sure why youd hold a guy worth that much who is out for basically the season. Grundy to Preuss was the obvious move. I have Hayes at R3.

Grundy to Hayes was my move, already had Preuss warming my bench. Worked out well giving me some cash to spend elsewhere

Did the same cos I couldn't afford Sicily. Floss was ok though and I reckon he'll be pretty consistent.

I am sick of having at least two of my guns on the bench each week.
English, Stewart, Cripps, Hewett, Pendlebury, etc.

I am holding trades till the byes so am relying on unreliable rookies.
Lots of cash but worried about the bye situation.

I am lucky to win the games I have.
Also would be good to pick a vice/captain who is my best.

I haven't gotten the captain's call right for about six rounds now. Can't even get the vc right. I reckon holding on all of those blokes except English is probably the right thing to do. My mate @hambone has held English as he likes that R/F loop but who knows what version of English you get back when he returns. When he went out he was the clear AA ruck along with Gawn. By holding him I think coaches are taking a big risk. He was injured, then he got sick. A big bloke that I'd be very surprised if you got the same output out of him when he first comes back. He might even be a good target for when Preuss almost inevitably breaks down. Big Preussy has never rucked a full season so we've already gotten top value out of him.

I couldn't go your way as I slipped to last in Premier and now have to burn trades to get my scoring up and to avoid relegation. So in doing that I'm trying to get rid of of onfield duds. Only two to go after a couple of dodgy early season calls.

League Rankings Round 9

1 Hogg Premier 134
2 Hogg I 902
3 Hogg II 2909
4 Piglet 4259
5 Hogg III 4401
6 Hogg IV 7646

Piglet still on the way up. Can they catch Divvy II? Premier a slight rebound while Hogg I has a dip.

Coniglio & Whitfield, Yuck!
What to do with these 2, would love to get rid of them but I'm burning through trades trying to win games. Hopefully new coach, new form.
Whoops, there goes another year. Whoops, there goes another pint of beer.
