After watching the replay of the game, i really realised that AT played the perfect strikers game, i could not fault him one bit. I dare say we wont see him in A league again. There was a pretty big interest in Europe in the game and i think every club will have noticed him now. Not many players in thge world have scored 5 in a game, let alone in a Grand Final!

Ive tried to hate the guy, coz he plays for Melbourne. But he is a top guy and i hope he goes well, whereever he ends up.

Also have to say Fred was best on ground, he had a great game.

Thats all a good striker has to do. Finish off the hard work of his defence and midfield. He did it to perfection.
I used to consider myself a bit of a striker, and the positions he was getting into were absolutly flawless, couldve had 6-7 goals easily with a few better crosses.

was brilliant, while the goals were nto overly spectacular, he did what he had to and what alot of strikers have trouble with, and he did it 5 times.
he will be a star for Australia, and im looking foward to seeing how he will go in Europe in the next few years.

Thought he looked dangerous in the Semi Final at the Dome, but lacked the confidence in his finishing ... A mate and I both said before the game "Got a bad feeling that Thompson is due", and whilst I thought he was good for 2 or 3 surely noone could have expected 5!!!

Best of luck to him, he seems like a quality individual and player and I also hope he kicks ass wherever he plays in future (with the exceptions being if he plays against Liverpool or AUFC).

And yes, Fred's performance was outstanding, to hold legitimate claims for Man of the Match when someone has scored 5 goals says it all.

Im not to sure Archie will go overseas after this. It would be fair to say the guy has been to Europe and probably failed to make an impact already. He is now a year older and without checking i would say he would almost be thirty now.

I don't think there will be that much interest in him in Europe apart from the lower division clubs and countries like Belgium, Switzerland and maybe Nederlands again. This in my mind wouldn't be a smart career move. The A- League salaries are only going to boom in the next couple of years and i think he could warrant to be one of the most highly paid players in the country.

If he has dreams of representing the national team, starring week in, week out in the A-League would be better self promotion than playing as a squad player in one of Europes minor leagues.

Just my thoughts anyway.

He has had his chances for Australia and in Europe but he is getting a bit too old for a big move now (i think he is 28). He couldn't get a game at the world cup and looked out of his depth in the first leg of the qualifier in Uruguay and i dont think he played much when he had a brief spell at PSV recently. He is a class act in the A-League but thats where he will stay.

he will not go to europe- at least not to a good club. he didnt get a run for psv when being coached by his own countrys manager and played at lierse in belgium who wud get pumped by any english premier league side. i could have scored against united on sunday. their defence played terribly. yes archie is good by australian standards but on the world stage he is a nobody. wud maybe get a contract for an english championship side at best.

It will be interesting to see how Europe rate a player on perfomance in a Australian GF. Ill be following this to see what happens. I can see him in a lower premier league team.

He had a go with PSV on loan didnt he? They didnt want him in the end? I think he could play for a weaker club championship...IMO
