Tough result for the boys, for mine they played the better football and should have converted a few more times than they did ... Thought Petrovski (sp??) was very lucky not to be called for off-side with the first goal and Carney should have scored himself a Yellow well before he did!

Sydney however, would appear to have the more naturally talented players in their group, whereas the Reds rely on big hearts, the question will be how far can it take them??

And for anyone who thought the Sydney Kings copped a dream ride in the NBL you oughta hear the commentators when Sydney United are playing .. You would think they were opponent-less in some games!!

Frustrating bloody sport this one at times lol!!

Its soccer, always will be in Australia.
Haven't seen the Footballeroos playing recently, unless the team that's heading to Germany has changed its name.
Spot on Tassie.
Football is the game where you need to kick goals with your feet.
Not your head, your shoulder, your thigh, your waist, your guts or your hand as Maradona showed.

Its when South Australians start calling soccer "football" by mistake that I realise why I hope United choke.
SA Footy is for football fans but there is a SOCCER forum for talk on that game.

Agreed, and this is a "Soccer" forum after all, if you want to talk football head to the SANFL, Regional Leagues or AFL forum on this site. Simple.

Yeah, change a name, to hide that sports flaws, As effective as changing Hackham to Huntfield heights, Elizabeth Oval to NAP Oval, you can only window dress so much, .....(Please, not having a go at Centrals for changing the name, but it is still Elizabeth oval to me, same for Football Park, not AAMI)

Sorry Duncs 7, I go now, I'm sure some psuedo "football" follower will try to rebut my arguement....

Chances of me watching the diving/shirt pulling in June/July, ZERO

Maybe Diving is the most apt name for that sport......

Geez Tassie, I used to look forward to your posts ... For what it's worth I followed/played Aussie Rules since I could walk, and have never played football/soccer, but absolutely love the game (much to the disgust of some family members with your type of mentality) ... As others have pointed out, it is called Football now, whether you like it or not, so get over it ffs!

I guess the real question is, if you hate the sport this much, wtf would you bother following it's designated area on this site?? :?:  :butthead:

Yes but in football you can also pick the ball up with your hands and run around while holding it so thats not really a true 'foot'ball either is it?

Very good point CP: Mr Tassie why come on this forum if the game is full of diving and shirt pulling (i see a lot of similar behind the play stuff in Aussie Rules too by the way)? It shows you have a love for the game which you do not wish to admit.

Would that be the same John Kosmina that has a run in with just about everyone else in the A-League and always blames the other people while using such classy words as "shit" in press conferences?
Smart and classy our Kossy, isn't he?

Obviously wears his brain there too after his decision to have the first leg of the final here.
Some people have long enough memories luckily to remember his attitude to Adelaide's team in the NSL at one stage.

lol I'm aware of this mate, and whilst not sharing it, very much understand and respect your opinion on this sport (or moreso it's structure) in this country ... Just think it's rough to throw bricks at Kossie with the advantage of hindsight

Hindsight has nothing to do with the attitude he used to have to South Australia's team in the NSL or the fact that its always someone else's fault when he has a go at someone.
Hindsight also has nothing to do with his stupid decision to play the first leg at home, you only would have to look at Australia's performance in recent world cup qualifiers and listen to the opinion of any decent coach around the world to work that one out. I was amazed when I found out it was Adelaide's decision and posted immediately when I found that out, didn't post earlier as I didn't think even Kossy would make such a stupid decision.
Of course Kossy probably thinks he knows more than any other coach/soccer expert in the world.
He used to tell us that on SBS in the NSL days.
Full marks to Kossy though, he probably realised he was going to stuff up when he said coming top was more important than winning a premiership, nice way of covering your arse if you stuffed up (which he did) but not bought by people with half a brain or more.
Absolute wanker and just another reason to dislike Adelaide United amongst many others.

Also on the soccer v football argument, I was watching an episode of the Simpsons tonight and despite being in Rio Bart still called it soccer.
Case closed.
