True, but as supporters we've almost got nothing to lose in terms of expectation .. Anything can happen on the day, especially in this sport .. Only need to look at something like the 2002 SANFL GF to see that trends can be broken when it matters most.

Challenge now for Adelaide, other than finding their best form, is to find some composure on the big stage ... Something we've never shown when the choccies are on the line, good luck to the lads in finding it ... I guess this GF means our pre-seaon poll was pretty close.

My thoughts of the game,

Poor crowd, ticket prices might of played a part, but I reckon it was more the fact that very few thought we would win...I will put my hand up and didn't think we would win, I actually picked QLD to beat the scum....was still there though...

Looked pretty shakey at the back in the first 20 minutes or so and on to many occassions we let the Roar just run through the midfield un-challenged and thankfully the couldn't hit the side of a barn. This though again improved as the game wore on...

The goal, there is nothing more that needs to be said about it, class, pure class...

The crowd, you could feel the tension before the goal, but after that got right into and were a credit to the club...

Viddie, nice to see him get out of seat on a number of occasions to actually coach, pull players aside and have a word and even go mental when needed. When he substituted Christiano for Ago I thought an old dude behind me was going to completely lose his mind...thank goodness his ranting was so unintelligable that my 6 year old couldn't understand him, might have been an interesting drive home trying to explain some of the terminology... :)

Also when Salley was substituted, the crowd weren't overly impressed either as he was, in my opinion, our best player...he broke up plenty of attacks and put that big bum about harrassing and giving the Roar a hard time...

On the Roar side of things, Moore is class, Tiatto looked half asleep, Zullo overrated, Mendocca see Zullo, Van Deyk did nothing, Fat Charlie Miller class player but fat...

Players...(purely my thoughts from were I was sitting)...

Eugene - by far the best keeper in the league and showed again why he is so valuable to the team- 8/10

Jammo - you could tell he was struggling but still ran and ran and ran, so while a bit down on his best still a great game 6/10

Ogo - not troubled at all, commanded the defense and will be sorely missed next season and beyond 7/10

Cornthwaite - was surprisingly pretty good, still don't think he should be hitting 60 yard passes but can't complain about his game tonight 7/10

D Mullen - a great young player, wasn't overly troubled and continues to grow in confidence... 6/10

Pantellis - I thought it wasn't his best game but he keeps working and made some good tackles and runs so pretty good. 6.5/10

Reid - seemed to struggle a bit tonight, some of his passing was a bit wayward but all in all another solid game. 6/10

Salley - brilliant, for a guy who hasn't played in the first team for how long, was immense...he looked very very surprised to be subbed and the ovation he got from the crowd was truly deserved. 8.5/10

Barbiero - works hard, chases back, creates, scored a cracker, Shane Smeltz should hand over the goal of hte year award now...was missed last week and continues to get better and better. 7.5/10

Doddy - keeps running into dead ends but is our creative spark and did some nice things. 6.5/10

Christiano - ran around a lot more than he has been, worked hard and I thought was a bit stiff to be subbed for Ago...6.5/10

Subs -
Ago - tries hard, could still be playing now at 11:23pm and still wouldn't score, but came on and chased back a bit, helped out during their run of corners so can't complain to much...the old dude behind us would disagree though...
Griffiths - looks good, didn't have much time, but if we can hang onto him next year then I reckon the lads got a bright future in the A-league...

So all in all a good night, cr@p crowd with regards to the number of people there and a fantastic result...If we are ever going to beat the Scum then why not do it in the GF, so I am going to call it early that we will win 2-1 Dodd scoring the first and Christiano getting the second...

Sorry for the long post....but I'm excited...  8)

There's a few in the football world that will be hoping for the same:

- Christophe Dugarry - a trademark Muscat tackle saw Dugarry contemplated at least three months out with knee ligamant damage and a desperate fight to be fit for the 2002 World Cup.

Former French Manager Roger Lemerre said: "Football is not a game of skittles, but I'm deeply unhappy about that tackle. It was a close match and it should not have been tarnished with such an act of brutality."

- Former Charlton midfielder Matt Holmes was awarded damages of £250,000 over what a court heard would go down as the "second most expensive tackle in history". Holmes was playing for Charlton in February 1998 when his left leg was "shattered" during a tackle by Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kevin Muscat.

- Craig Bellamy - Former Norwich City boss Bruce Rioch was infuriated by a tackle which did not earn Muscat a booking when Craig Bellamy sustained an horrific knee injury in a collision with the Wolves defender in 1998. Rioch was so infuriated he clashed with a linesman at Molineux, and after racing on to the pitch to check on his injured player had to be physically restrained by his backroom staff.

- Andy Johnson was sent off playing for Nottingham Forest against Wolves last season. He punched Muscat during Wolves' 2-0 win, and declared: "Muscat is a horrible player. "He kicked me off the ball three times and then elbowed me in the head and I stupidly lost my rag."

- Birmingham City's Martin Grainger, no shrinking violet himself when it comes to putting in a tackle. He was unequivocal in his criticism - but issued a chilling warning that Muscat may one day face a large dose of what many regard as his own favourite medicine. Grainger said: "He is probably the most hated man in football.NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! "The bottom line is what goes around comes around. There will be someone nastier who will get him one day." Grainger's outburst came after a challenge by Muscat on his own Australia team-mate Stan Lazaridis.

Finally, I can't find a link, but there was a Scottish commentator who had to go off air to chill out after witnessing a horror Muscat tackle that broke an opponents leg. The commentator said something like 'he's the dirtiest player to have ever played the game and should be banned for life or locked up'.....or something along those lines.

Muscat is a ****.

Fantastic post Jase. The ratings spot on.

Salley was fantastic.

Tiatto played in the hands of "Mr Yellow Card" and was just preserving himself for the GF.

And DA, Muscat is a dirty prick and has one coming to him......

Cliched I know, but seriously the only way to hurt a bloke like Muscat is to have him watch you collect a winners medal
