nothing to do with most of it, probably didn't help, but the Victory supporters wanted it from the start, just ask westies sarge about the 1st one he saw.
most just attempting to be hard and back it after the match was the main cause.

Like Sam said Wedgie you really do need to go to some AU games, i would happily bet that if we went to a game wedgie and counted all the national strips or ran a survey, Europeans would out number the British by about three to one. Im willing to put money where my mouth is.

Dude, if you're willing to put your money where your mouth is I just won big money as Britain is a part of Europe!
Its funny, during the SANFL year I hear from Poms when Centrals fans are attacked that it takes two to tango, when it happens at the soccer in the summer only one group of fans is guilty despite the Fox camera quite clearly picking up unsavoury incidents from both lots of fans (mainly the AU fans when I was watching and mentioned in the paper and on the radio (by other AU fans)).
Ive been at many AFL games when there's no issues between Adelaide Crows fans and Victorians, Ive been at many 36ers games when there's no issues between 36ers fans and Victorians, and Ive been at many Adelaide City and West Adelaide soccer games when they've played Victorians and there's been no issues.
Probably because that childish and dangerous "gang mentality" hasn't been there.
It has to be eliminated, if it means the end of the A-League, so be it.
Don't want to turn into another UK and have walls fall down on fans, people crushed against fences or mass brawls.

and thats from a ******* victory supporter.

reason you are hearing it more about AU is probably becouse all the victory supporters have gone back to Victoria, where as the AU trouble makers are still here.

what i was saying was in Melbourne when trouble starting all we were doing was cheering for our team, in Adelaide when there was 16,000 Adelaide supporters there is going to be a few idiots, but not nessacerilly from the ''Pommy Element''
some Adelaide supporters throwing bottles and coins, not necessarily a ''Pommy Element'' Melbourne supporters trowing coins bottles and Flares certainly not a ''Pommy Element''

I just hope the Adelaide United fans turned on their own in their "incidents" like the Melbourne crowd did with this idiot:

i saw alot of AU supporters pulling drunk AU and MV supporters off each other, while i do like flares, i think throwing them is really really dumb, thats when real harm can be done.

Just read there was a riot squad on hand for the Sydney v Central Coast game.
Geez between behaviour like what's going on and the huge $$$ losses its good to see the A-League's doing such a good job of taking soccer to new heights in this country!

yeah sorry that was a mistake there was meant to be a word infront of Europe, my point is that there is alot more italian/greek supporters at the Adelaide United games than British. To say that the problems at the games is only because of the British is ridiculous.

Do you not remember the problems the NSL were having in the whole last season when the NSL was around with the Melbourne Knights and South Melbourne supporters.

And as Sam said the Victory supporters sent off more flairs in one game at Hindmarsh than the AU supporters have set off in the whole franchise (not club) history.

Yes I remember many an issue with the Croatians but I never encountered 1 problem in 20 years of going to matches with Greeks and Italians, not 1.
I doubt the Greeks and Italians would start now (in SA anyway).

Went to 2 Grand Finals in Melbourne against the Melbourne Knights and 1 Grand Final in Adelaide against them.
Caught the train over to one of the GFs in Melbourne and had a great time with the Adelaide Croations, they were top lads.
The real trouble was caused in those days by the Sydney Croats, they called themselves the Bad Blue Boys or something similar.
I mentioned the Croats before on this forum.
Also went to a Prelim in Melbourne by myself when we beat South Melbourne, Ross Aloisi scored the one and only goal by memory, a cracker!

My 8 year old daughter has been nagging me to take her to the AU soccer games.
I took her a few weeks ago when Romario played that exhibition match.
After the aftermath of the Muscat/Kosmina derby my mind is made up, we wont be
attending any games of soccer.
I have a photo stuck on my fridge of Kosmina and my kid from the exhibition night
which I will now take off.
Why is it we have these voilent mindless mishaps at soccer games not only here but
world wide ?
Is it because soccer supporters get frustrated at the lack of goal scoring intensity?
Or is it more to do with racial tensions?

I find this extremely difficult but I have to agree wuth King WEDGIE.
The Greeks and Italians in the all the years I ventured to the soccer games had
an intense but respectable rivalry.
Certain other ethnic supporters cause problems.

In an increasingly unstable violent world with wars etc, why do we transgress
similar but lower scale violence and hooliganism in a sporting venue.

As for me taking the kid to AU games, nah I'll give it a miss.

regards,

MAL
