Thanks for the coverage SJABC.

Things got a bit heated with HOF though. I have noticed in the past that Pseudo and REB have called you son before and you didnt blow your top. Go easy on the young fella.

Carn the Reds in the return leg.

Come on, calm down fella's. Unlucky Adelaide. Tough battle ahead now, but it is only half time. Better luck for the return leg.

And apologies for not being on line at the time. I don't get the opportunity to log in when at work.

Let's do a Liverpool and do a come from behind win. Liverpool were 3 nil down at half time, came back and forced extra time, then penalties.

A very dissapointing result. The only positive i can see is that it should have been 5-0 and all over so we at least have a fighting chance. However to do that we need to be able to pass the ball out of defence. The only time we looked in the game was a 10 minute period in the second half when we started winning our share of the midfield battles but other then that hats off to Gamba. Played a very excting brand of football and that Lucas really exposed our lack of pace at the back.

That's a good post. Was worked up yesterday/last night and I think the United players were too. They looked tighter then a steel drum. Hopefully they loosen up and find the game in which they progressed this far. They really need to have a attacking mindset next Wednesday. No good sitting back, need to attack and do it from the set go. I dare say the Japanese will be ready and look for the counter, but all we need is a goal in the first 10 minutes, and she's game on. If were 2 nil up at half time can see the home crows getting us over the line. Need to make a lot of noise to stop the 600 Osaka fans from our cheering us....

Doddy, Cassio, Cristiano, Pantellis...there was no spark last night. Need the spark back lads. Play a 4-4-2 with Younis up front from the start.
No Ang so Micky V come on down. Reid will be back in so seeya Sarkies, and the young keeper in Birighitti, mate it's your time, show us why you captained the Joeys, and put on a show that belies your 18 years of age.....

The other ponder is will Mullen be available ? Hopefully is rep duties will be over and he can play. His pace would be very handy.

The game was a terrific experience tonight, similar to my Div 1 final at Wembley Stadium experience back in May.

United were a joke in the 1st half, a little better in the 2nd. They came over to thank us after the game, as did the officials.

Almost 100 United supporters (I reckon about 80% had travelled there specifically for the game)were there plus some Japanese fans that joined in (we were a bit like celebrities there). It seemed like Osaka are the Port Adelaide of Japan as there were some Japanese fans there just to oppose Gamba.

It was a bit different to soccer in the UK for example as `opposition` supporters helped me (walked me) to and from the stadium, and I saw only 2 cops amongst the 20000+ people over here. :D

The Osaka cheer squad of a few thousand looked and sounded awesome.

The lowlight for me was seeing someone in our section wearing a Crows hat, not something you want to see when you travel overseas.

I give United no chance of winning the cup now. At least I won`t miss anything at Hindmarsh next week.

So overall a great night. Just a shame United forgot how to play.

Very disappointing last night, if Trav, Sasha and Diego were in the shop window then we really only need to worry about losing Sasha...

Can still be done, I thing Cornflakes is struggling no end at right back at the moment, so maybe Mullen in at Right Back and Cornthwaite at Centre Half, though would prefer to see Valkanis in. I think the right hand side of defence is our weakest spot at the moment...

With Reid to come back in and Diego having got a game under his belt as well hopefully some magic will happen ...

I just hope and pray that we don't play one up front again...there is no point Christiano winning and holding up the ball without any support...3 on 1 ain't fair....

My folks were there last night, you can see them in the Gallery on the Adelaidenow website, they are about 1000 years older than everyone else :D :D

Thanks enough of my nonsensical ramblings for now....

Was thinking the same MightyEagles. Total balls up in Japan. 3 - Nil
On the other hand, this is what legends are made of. The Hindmarsh crowd has to make as much noise and support as possible, for this to turn around. Attack. Get early goals and it can be done.

3-0 isnt impossible but it was the way in which we lost that has me worried. Easily could / should have been 5-0. Also we were very lucky with the referree. Sarkies & Eugene should both have been sent off and i couldnt hear the commentary very well but shouldnt that free kick have counted?

We will be far better at home but the damage may already have been done. A quick goal for us will be vital.

As for Diego, his comments certainly raised some eyebrows but i actually think he deserves some credit for being totally honest about his future. I however think he is slightly overrated but that is just my opinion. Also i think Doddsy appears to be twice the player at home. I cant remember the last time he played a blinder away from Hindmarsh.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Is all I could think when that first goal went in.
And it only got worse.
They are a classy outfit - makes you realise how well we've done to get over big $$$$ teams.
We were sluggish from the start, couldn't maintain possession and didn't impose ourselves on the game with any sort of run.
I get the feeling Gamba watched the Victory game on Friday night. One of our stars has been Cornthwaite - but put a nippy lil fella on him and he's too busy chasing him to be creative.
Yasuda - what a star.
It's a long way back, let's hope we can at least do ourselves some justice in the return leg.

BTW - drank a bottle of red while watching the game last night. It was called Jamieson's Run. Sadly I saw more of the bottle than the player actually doing what the bottle suggested.

Not a choke as yet just beat purely by a better football team.

Adelaide didn't take the rare oppurtunities that presented themselves especially Cornthwaites miss in the second half at 2-0 down.

Also thought Vidmar was out managed, United got killed down the left all night, also thought we sat off them way to much, which gave them the chance to shoot from just outside to box way to often.

i thought they (au) looked slow, shouldn't 'soccer australia' (or whatever their title is) have postponed their match from last friday because i thought it didn't help au's preparation for this clash, surely postponing that match as they have with next weeks would help having au in the best possible shape, i'll bet if it was melbourne or sydney both 'local' matches would have been postponed & caught up later with the 'catchcry' this is for australia, but because the team isn't based in either of those cities they couldn't give a rats
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
