A-League Season 2008/2009

Well Gents (and Ladies if any),

The season is just around the corner, and once again I will start the A-League thread for the year !
Will kick off on August the 15th, Newcastle v Central Coast.

Will start off with the major Clubs in's and out's and do the season preview closer to kickoff.

ADELAIDE UNITED

In – Sasa Ognenovski (Queensland Roar), Cristiano (2 years - Willem II, Holland), Alameo (2 years - CA Juventus, Brazil), Scott Jamieson (Bolton Wanderers, England)

Out – Bobby Petta (released at completion of contract), Dez Giraldi (released - after AFC Champions League), Robbie Bajic (released), Nathan Burns (AEK Athens, Greece), Bruce Djite (Genclerbirligi, Turkey), Richie Alagich (retired)

CENTRAL COAST MARINERS

In – Adrian Caceres (Melbourne Victory), Ahmad Elrich (Wellington Phoenix), Dylan Macallister (FC Lyn, Norway)

Out – Tom Pondeljak (Melbourne Victory), John Aloisi (Sydney FC), Adam Kwasnik (Wellington Phoenix), Tony Vidmar (retired)

MELBOURNE VICTORY

In – Billy Celeski (Perth Glory), Tom Pondeljak (Central Coast Mariners), Michael Thwaite (on loan from Brann Bergen, Norway), Ney Fabiano De Oliveira (Chonburi FC, Thailand), Jose Luis Lopez (Deportivo Saprissa, Costa Rica)

The Chelsea wannabes will be hard to beat but hopefully Adelaide can give it a better shake than last year, Cristiano will dominate.

can some1 tell sydney there is a salary cap and u will go broke ...ask the KINGS....

must say was talkin to cristiano today and had a slight limp .... but he is lovin it here !!!

Glad Bella is out now and not in a few weeks. Gives United a chance to sign another keeper....

Still there. He's the Number 1 keeper, and Beltrame was the second....

Sweet. It was funny, I worked with his sister in Melb and she and the whole crew would give it to me relentlessly about that night *cough cough*, showing me photos of all of them holding up the dunny seat trophie etc.

Couple of years on and he's a red............ :lol: :oops: :oops:

She doesn't like talking about football so much now, but nothing will reverse what happened that night!
