Defenders: Lucas Neil (Blackburn Rovers), Craig Moore (Newcastle United), Michael Beauchamp (Central Coast), Mark Milligan (Sydney FC), Stan Lazaridis (no club), Tony Popovic (Crystal Palace), Brett Emerton (Blackburn Rovers), Scott Chipperfield (Basel).
Midfielders: Vince Grella (Parma), Marco Bresciano (Parma), Tim Cahill (Everton), Josip Skoko (Stoke City), Luke Wilkshire (Bristol City), Jason Culina (PSV Eindhoven).
Forwards: Mark Viduka (Middlesbrough), John Aloisi (Alaves), Archie Thompson (PSV Eindhoven), Harry Kewell (Liverpool), Mile Sterjovski (Basel), Joshua Kennedy (Dinamo Dresden).

No complaints about MOST of that, but six players who I feel were unlucky: John Filan, Ljubo Milicevic, Jon McKain, Dean Heffernan, David Carney, Ahmad Elrich.

Only 2 A-League players in that, but here's a paralell we could draw: the A-League is not the highest level of top-flight soccer on the world, but has players who are definitely players good enough to represent their country at the highest level. Much in similar vein that you'll find SANFL, WAFL, etc footballers who are more than good enough for AFL level. Make something of that if you can.
