A League crowds are dropping off alarmingly.

This game shows why to some extent.

Adelaide dominate, but can't score, even with a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The ball hardly goes down the other end. When it does, the Brisbane player is obstructed and goes down with theatrical flair.

Penalty, 1 - 0.

Referee has no idea and the fizz goes right out of the game.

Once again, there's only 1 minute extra time in the first half, despite several time-wasting periods. No doubt there'll be at least 3 minutes extra in the 2nd half.

Ho hum.

Just got home from the game tonight at Hindmarsh and was disappointed on a number of levels, not just because the reds lost.

A group of us rocked up to the first game we have attended in some weeks, only to find the admission price was $26. Surely this is too expensive for a sport which is struggling to compete with other codes. How the A League expects to successfully introduce more teams into this competition so soon staggers me. At almost $1 every 3 minutes, the level of entertainment provided is not worth the admission price IMO.

The game itself was dull with limited opportunites to either side and a distinct lack of class forwards. Other than the missed penalty, Adelaide only had one clear chance which was poorly taken by a slow looking Brazilian who is paid to put the ball in the back of the net.

On the penalty, why the hell didnt Adelaide's proven penalty taker Dodd take the kick?

The Brisbane penalty should have been an indirect free kick according to my knowledge of the rules, but please prove me wrong if so.

On Adelaide's players...Dodd should not be playing up front. If we are importing forwards into Adelaide then surely we should be importing players which can make the starting 11. Dodd is much better running at players, not with his back to the opposition goal.

Unless Cassio or Pantelis are injured why does Viddie have them on the sidelines until the game is beyond doubt? Alemao is slow, and does not have the influence that he should have of a game breaking import.

To use an AFL expression i would like to see cornthwaite's clanger count. It's easy to sit off your opponent and play the ball across the back four, but when it comes time to play the ball up the field he regularly turns it over. This is from a player who has signed a multi year deal with the club. A little adivce...stop waving to fans before the game, and chatting and smiling to Craig Moore in the box Robbie, and start developing some skills and a hard nose defender attitude that leaks no goals or contributes few errors.

I am a fan of Jamieson, but he had a poor game and his crossing was very poor. The free kicks Adelaide win are predictable and he always aims for a inswinging free kick to the back post. The same goes for Sarkies at the dead ball situation. For a team with limited opportunites up front, Adelaide needs to make more of their opportunities from the dead ball. It was refreshing to see the variation from the dead ball which resulted in Sarkies chipping the ball which was headed across goal in the first half. This was the only instance i saw of Adelaide trying something different from the dead ball.

I feel sorry for Vidmar. I dont think he has a lot of cards to play with. Lloyd looks no good, Brazilians arent pulling their weight and who knows where the goals are coming from. Sure he can say Adelaide outplayed them, which may be true for time in possession, but there is still a major lack of scoring opportunities. I hope the Reds can turn it around.

Sorry for such a negative post, but i want to see the Reds back on top and i have been stewing over tonight's experience all the way home. I would be happy to pay $26 to see entertaining football which occasionally results in a united win!

With what is or isn't happening with Adelaide United, is AV under enough pressure for him to be replaced as coach?
Is he too "one dimensional" with his coaching and won't make format changes to the side, I can't see why you'd have either Owusu or Christiano keeping the bench warm when the team can't score, put them both upfront and try that, what's to lose?
