ADELAIDE United is on the verge of losing contracted experienced defender Cassio to Korea Republic giant Seongnam Ilhwa.
Korean sources have revealed that Cassio could be paraded as the club's new signing by as early as next week as Adelaide seeks an undisclosed fee to compensate for the wily left-back.
His departure will free-up some of Adelaide's $2.3 million salary cap and hand the club an opportunity to possibly re-sign Adam Griffiths and a fresh face for the new season.
But Cassio's pending exit could leave a massive hole for a left-back specialist after fringe Socceroos defender Scott Jamieson penned a two-year deal with Sydney FC last week.
Cassio is tipped to re-join former Adelaide stopper Sasa Ognenovski - currently the vice-captain of Seongnam - in Korea before the K-League season re-starts on July 17.
