The squads were taken from each clubs official website...

Some leave a bit to be desired about how often they are updated.

Continuing on from my post in the Heart thread, Melbourne Victory membership numbers looking very good so far with a little over a month until the first home game.

Membership currently sitting at 14,357

Based on whats left i think the club would have to be fairly confident of membership selling out this season, and becoming the first A-league club to have a waiting list for membership.

Premium A Reserved: 933 available (Adult prices start from $470)
Premium B Reserved: 2,165 seats available (Adult prices start from $350)
Premium C Reserved: 4,105 seats available (Adult prices start from $225)
South-End Active: SOLD-OUT - waiting list available
North-End Active: SOLD-OUT - waiting list available

So what do you get for your money Sam. How does it compare to say the EPL or CCC.

You to give you an example, a season ticket at Burnley (23 home games) will set you back from $600.00 for lower tier behind the goals, to $900 for and upper tier from the 1/2 way line.
Lounge tickets will cost you $2,000 for a season including meal, and a box will cost $32,000 (seats 10)

The EPL varies widely depending on club but the season ticket prices aren't htat much different in most clubs to those of the CCC, maybe add 15%. Chelsea, Arsenal etc are much higher, and boxes are hugely more expensive.

15 Home games this season, 10 at Swan Street and 5 at Docklands.

This will probably give you a better idea of what corresponds to where

http://www.a-league.com.au/site/_conten ... source.pdf

Its a fair bit different for the games at Docklands though

http://www.a-league.com.au/site/_conten ... source.pdf

Personally I'm not overly happy with my membership this season (Country & Interstate Membership), but that's got more to do with how good the set up was last season in comparison, last season it was $90 and got you a seat at any 5 home games, this season its $100 and gets you into the 5 games at the Docklands only, for games at Swan Street you effectively have to purchase a ticket then you get an upgrade to a reserved seat.

How'd you get in the pitch to take that?

Boca ended up winning 1-0.

Very physical opening hit out, both teams came together with abit of push and shove on at least 4 separate occasions, ref let alot go, gave out 6 yellow cards for the match but turned a blind eye to quite a few other things including a clear straight red in the first half.
Pretty sloppy performance, though it easily could have ended 1-1 with Melbourne probably having the better of it in the 2nd half, particularly in the last 20 minutes.
With another couple games against VPL sides to come, the Victory are probably shaping up alright really, performance was probably about par for this time of year.

Didn't catch the official attendance, but based on how it looked i would say it was about 20,000-24,000

Boca Juniors defeat Melbourne Victory 1-0 in friendly match at Etihad Stadium

By Adam Cooper
July 16, 2010

Boca Juniors midfielder Marcelo Canete scored the decisive goal as the Argentine Primera Division side beat Melbourne Victory 1-0 in a pre-season friendly at Etihad Stadium.

Canete, Boca's standout player throughout the match, was forced to overcome a bloody nose suffered in the early stages when he collided with referee Strebre Delovski in the first half.

But the promising midfielder bounced back to score the winner for Boca with a great solo goal in the 42nd minute.

The 20-year-old pounced on a back pass from Melbourne's Roddy Vargas, sped away from Leigh Broxham and fended off Adrian Leijer, before beating Victory goalkeeper Glen Moss.

He almost scored a second in the opening minute of the second half but Michael Petkovic, who replaced Moss at half-time, saved the Boca midfielder's low shot.

Canete, who was twice patched up on the sidelines after his collision with Delovski, was off before the hour as both clubs rolled through their squads during the second half.

The game attracted just 13,020 fans, but Boca enjoyed the more passionate support thanks to a pocket of loyal fans who celebrated their appearance Down Under.

Melbourne's main problem was creating chances, with Archie Thompson and Carlos Hernandez missing, but the Victory twice went close in the first half.

Marvin Angulo and Robbie Kruse both had shots from close range blocked, and Tom Pondeljak put a long-range shot wide in the second half.

Nicolas Blando had the best chance for Boca in the second half but shot wide after a great run from near the halfway line.

The game was marred by several ugly challenges and some pushing and shoving on an unstable Etihad Stadium surface, which caused slips throughout the game.

The Victory play two more scratch matches before their grand-final rematch against Sydney FC on August 7, while Boca's visit is part of a world pre-season tour.

Melbourne coach Ernie Merrick was pleased with his side's performance and said the match was a good hit-out before the A-League season began.

"There was a lot of feeling in the game and we got out of it exactly what we wanted and it was great to see a team like Boca come over and be very serious about winning a game,'' Merrick said.

"We were particularly happy with the intensity in the second half. This is the best way to prepare for the league."

Melbourne Victory star Archie Thompson says his surgically repaired knee is ahead of schedule and he hopes to return to the A-League before Christmas.

Thompson has overcome the funk he endured in the months after he had surgery to mend the knee he injured in the loss to Sydney FC in last season's grand final.

Coach Ernie Merrick is focused on regaining his striker in January, but Thompson said he was already kicking balls and hoped to get back much sooner.

"I'm sort of thinking November," Thompson said on Thursday.

"That's just me being over-confident about it.
