Wellington up 2-0 with 10 minutes to go, Boca down to 10 men with their captain earning himself 2 yellows.

This has been a much more entertaining game that the Melbourne V Boca match.

Phoenix's first goal was brilliant, I can see them doing some real damage in the upcoming A-league season.

Wellington Phoenix have bolstered their A-League title aspirations with the signing of Socceroos centre-half Jade North.

The 28-year-old, who skippered Newcastle to their 2008 grand final victory, joins the Phoenix from Norwegian side Tromso following an unhappy spell with K-League outfit Incheon United, who he linked up with midway through the 2009 campaign.

North will resume his defensive partnership with current Phoenix captain Andrew Durante, who he played alongside during the Jets' championship-winning season.

Phoenix head coach Ricki Herbert said he's delighted to have secured the signature of North, who has been capped 28 times for Australia.

"Jade's a proven performer at elite level, with almost 100 appearances in the A-League," Herbert said.

"He was outstanding for the Jets alongside Dura when they won the title a couple of seasons back and he'll fit in really well with the group we have here.

"Not only does he have a wealth of experience but he also brings significant leadership qualities to the club."
