Adelaide United

Postby RoosterMarty » Thu Jul 13, 2006 1:32 pm

I thought a thread about our beloved local side, Adelaide United, might be a good idea. Post any news, trial games, signings etc here if you want.

Memberships are on sale now for $180, they are available to order and get delivered at the beginning of August.

United also played a trial against the state team yesterday, won 2-1 with Valkanis and Kemp scoring. Petta also played alright going by reports, so maybe we will end up signing him.

yeah i went out to Marden last night, (bloody freezing) wasnt any regulars from last years side that played the whole game, reckon Veart and Dodd were both on the longest, about 70 minutes probably, less than impressive effort really, but its still early, and our 1st real hit out for the season.

funniest thing was a little kid probably about 3, on the field, after stealing one of the Adelaide keepers training balls at half time, he waits for Robbie Baijc to look at him, then proceeds to dodge and run past then goes up to Danny Beltrame and waits to be looked at and then dodges and runs past him to, watching him try to cross the ball like Beltrame was about the funniest thign you will ever see.

Haven't seen the goal but going by a report on Bigfooty it was a little bizarre and posibly lucky for us.

The goal resulted from a bizarre set of circumstances. Adelaide turned over possession in midfield, but referee Matthew Breeze brought play back for an offside infringement, despite Melbourne already being in possession. From the resultant free kick, Adrian Leijer mis-kicked straight to Adelaide’s Travis Dodd who squared for Veart to finish in the only scoring activity for the match.

Well we drew 0-0 against Central Coast Mariners in our second game of the pre-season cup. Sounds like the pitch was pretty average in Orange, hard and bumpy. The Reds had a few chances to score but the Mariners keeper pulled off some big saves.

I'm not buying a Melbourne Victory membership now. Not while Merrick is still coaching. We have the team but not the coach!
