It is reported that Sydney FC are interested in signing Alex Del Piero as their new marquee player after Nicky Carle left for the middle east. The Juventus legend, record appearances and record goal scorer, was thinking of signing with FC Sion in Switzerland but has rejected the offer. Sydney are thought to have offered him a 2m contract, with CEO tony pignata holding 2 video conferences with his management team in the past few days.

This is the kind of player the A-league should be attracting as marquee signings. Del Piero is a massive legend of the sport and still has plenty to offer after guiding Juve to the championship last year with some crucial goals in the run home. he has a huge media profile and will attract a heap of interest in Australian football.

Hopefully he comes to Oz, the decision should be made in a few days

Looks like they got him.
Huge coup for Sydney fc and the a-league.
The biggest name ever to play here
unlike fowler and Romario he was a main part of a undefeated serie a side and is pre world class

2 year deal with option of a 3rd.
Massive coup for the League, talk that Sydney's games will be shown live in Italy and even talking of a friendly in Turin between Sydney and Juve. The A-League hasnt ruled out the possibility of an A-League game being played in Turin for points. Would expect huge crowds in Sydney and would think there would be plenty of Italians in Australia who would flock to see him play. Will definately be bringing out my Juve strip when he comes to town

his father will get a pimple on his arse or something like that, and then he will dissapear at the end of this season, and go back to italy because of it.. Like all the others 'stars', they get the shits, then want out when they realise how poor or far behind the rest of the leagues around the world that the A league is..

its the truth

IMO the A league will never get off the ground more then what it is now when these 'stars' come over, all hype for them saying they are going to change the face of the A League, and then they make a lame duck excuse, or have family issues, and return to europe or wherever the follwing season.
