I don't normally buy into these 'marquee' 'novelty' transfers occasionally you see in sport but I definitely think this would add a lot of value and create unprecedented levels of interest in the A-League. It will up to the A-League to then keep the 'new fans' this will attract. Knowing the A-League they will find a way to stuff it up.

He did some training at Manchester United a few years ago and the general feedback was that he had some good skills and with some hard work he could make it at a lower level

So the A-league it is!

Also I believe he was a handy junior cricketer.

Did some trials with Borussia Dortmund only a few months ago and had about a dozen lower division English clubs after him

From what I understand is that his wage demands were out of reach for lower league English clubs whereas the FFA will ultimately pay a fair portion of his wage to allow him in the league which will get him over the line.

I'm still not sold though that a Chinese club wont come in last minute with an unbeatable deal.

Ben Halloran likely to be announced as a Red in the coming days. Handy pickup. Starting to look like a fairly strong squad. Baba May play the next FFA cup game as well

Halloran all signed & delivered. Baba played the second half of a friendly Friday night as well.
Squad starting to look really good!

Izzo
Marrone, Elsey, Jakobsen, Galloway
Isaias, Boland
Ilso
Halloran. Diawara, Goodwin

Depth
GK - Margush
Def - Regan, Strain
Mid - Lia, Konstandopolous
Fwds - Mileusnic, Kitto, Blackwood, Stamatelopoulos, Brook

Strain may start in defence for Galloway or Goodwin @ LB & Mileusnic as the LW.
Can't complain one bit about the squad at the moment, starting to look like a real contender. Only question mark is if Baba can stay on the park

Just saw the Mariners kits for the new season. The 2nd and 3rd kits are good but the home kit has been massacred. Has thick vertical stripes on one side and thin vertical stripes on the other! :vom:

Ah yes, you know the new A-League season is around the corner when Central Coast release their latest avant garde playing uniform, the palm tree/dope leaf number being one of my recent favourites.

Regarding this year's edition, “The varying lines are a representation of the growing infrastructure and architecture of Gosford which is fast becoming the bustling city-centre we all want it to be on a Mariners’ game day."

Now I’m certainly no huge soccer fan, in fact if Adelaide wasn’t playing I wouldn’t be watching now but if this is the nations top level on display Australia will never in a million years get anywhere close to winning a World Cup.

I get that it’s round 1 but Jesus it’s an ordinary standard.

I noticed one positioning that has been lacking for the Reds in recent seasons, is now they have someone at the back post for crosses coming in, that helped lead to that goal and will definitely lead to many more.
They missed so many goals with having noone at the backpost for crosses in the past, some would have been easy tap ins
