SIX senior Adelaide United players, including skipper Ross Aloisi and Socceroo Travis Dodd, have been accused of "inciting" the home crowd after the controversial 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory.

Football Federation Australia wrote to Adelaide United on Friday asking it to investigate the action of its players after the Melbourne game at Telstra Dome last Sunday.
It is the second time the governing body has clashed with Adelaide in less than a week after it suspended Reds' coach John Kosmina for six games on Wednesday.

Kosmina was banned for the touchline altercation with Victory captain Kevin Muscat, who earned a yellow card but no suspension.

On Friday, Football Federation Australia wrote a letter under the heading re: Adelaide United FC (AUFC) players inciting Melbourne Victory FC (MVFC) spectators in round 8 at Telstra Dome to United chief executive Michael Petrillo.

The letter asked the club to conduct an internal review on the post-match actions of some of its players.

It expected United to respond to the letter by the close of business on October 31.

The FFA said in the letter it "reserves the right to take over investigations and impose additional penalties should the club procedure and outcome be deemed insufficient."

While some of United's players celebrated jubilantly after the match, the FFA appears to have seen it as a blight on the game, witnessed by more than 32,000 fans.

The FFA's letter stated the governing body deems the actions of the players in question as "serious and in breach of Clause 2 of the HAL (Hyundai A-League) code of conduct".

Yesterday Petrillo said: "I'm unable to comment until we have a full rundown on what the situation is. We hope to have a good look at it on Monday."

The letter, written by A-League operations manager Rob Abernethy, says some of United's had used excessive post-match gestures after United's win.

It comes only days after the FFA suspended Kosmina.

The FFA letter said it will not tolerate the "number of players are seen jumping over the signage grid at the northern end of the field to celebrate with the small group of AUFC (United) fans.

"This action (in directly approaching the AUFC fans) incited some unsavoury behaviour from some MVFC (Victory) fans located adjacent to the AUFC fans."

Angelo Costanzo, Matthew Kemp, Dodd, Aloisi, Michael Valkanis and Robert Bajic have all been identified as "instigators" while the FFA said another two Reds players who were part of the celebration have not been identified

Have a look @ the Sydney FC players after the Semi @ Aussie Stadium last year, much worse than last week, its not our players fault that Victorians cant handle losing and will try to start a riot at the slightest thing.

I thought that United players had done some thing directly to the Victory fans !!!!

It actually reads that they did nothing wrong but celebrate a good win with there own fans !!!

The FFA have got some huge internal issues me thinks if this is the sort of thing that they are willing to pursue !!!
It is what it is !!!

You have to ask yourself why should this incite the crowd???? it happens every week in the AFL, the away team celebrates a win away with the loyal fans who are willing to spend alot of money and travel to watch their team play! Why do Football/Soccer fans have the right to act like twats, and make a big deal out of it?

The majority dont, the Melbourne Victory supporters are just way over the top, there was a video going around from outside gate 7 (behind us) but it was quickly taken down, as it puts MVFC and its supporters in such a bad light.

As u have already posted sam

I can't confirm these discussions, but I can confirm that the club, Telstra Dome and the FFA are EXTREMELY concerned with some of the behaviour of supporters, both at home AND away.

The club faces sanctions in the form of fines, written warnings and possible expulsion from the league if fans continue to act inappropriately at games.

I cannot emphasise this enough. The new league was created to avoid the crowd problems of the past, and any hint that those dark days might return will be severely dealt with by the league.

The frustrating thing is we have the best fans in the land - we have the biggest corwds, the largest away fan base - yet some are spoiling it for everyone.

Here's a link to the league's Supporter Coder of Conduct. Please familiarise yourselves with it, and please adhere to it.

This is a stellar season for the club, both on and off the park - yet we cannot seem to escape criticism every week regarding fan behaviour. It's time for certain elements of our crowd to take responsibility for their actions and stop bringing the club and the league into disrepute.

It has really gotten beyond a joke. The charging at Adelaide supporters at Gate 7 last week; the flares, fights, destruction of stadium seats, breaking and entering, entering the field of play and general appalling language in chants in Sydney - these are all totally unacceptable and it must end.

With the massive success of the club this season comes a greater responsibility. I'm frankly sick to death of having to front the media because of complaints about supporter behaviour and language.

Please think about it.
