I'm only a novice football supporter.
But I've been to see the Reds twice this season - Melbourne and Brisbane.

Both losses - and in both games United looked slow to react and slow to have a shot, preferring to bring the ball into the box before taking a shot. Not willing to take a chance from long range.

And both times it appeared much of this was due to the way Aloisi and Veart play. When Djite was introduced in the Brisbane game we looked so much more potent.

Again, I'm only a novice - but...you add Dodd, Burns, Djite and Petta and the pace lifts and we run a little harder.

Please Kosi - it's finals time, you're here to win the thing, if you have to play Aloisi/Veart sub them on instead of using them as key playmakers. They're past it!

Im looking to get tickets, Im a bandwagoner only been to 1 games this year, mind you I have a excuse with a newborn in the house, from what I can see tickets go on sale to the GP on Wednesday after members get first crack.

What do you guys think should happen when we beat Melbourne and have the home GF?? Play at Hindmarsh maybe with temporary seating as they used to do for the Olympics and Adelaide City GF's??? or go to Adelaide Oval (again probably an issue with cricket being played) or AAMI.

Hindmarsh is an awesome atmosphere even with 15k there, I would probably lean to keeping it there, but knowing how the $ speaks I dare say there are some serious conversations occuring between management this morning...

The again if we lose and then make the GF thru the backdoor, how good would a full Telstra Dome be for the GF with a good old SA/VIC rilvary clash...if this occurs Im definately packing up the family and heading to Melbourne for that weekend

Good call on the aloisi/veart issue. The reason why they don't shoot from long range is because there is only maybe 2-3 players in the league who have the talent to finish from that distance.

Melbourne Victory confirmed to their members on the 16th of January that the GF if in Melbourne will be played at the Telstra Dome.

Having watched a couple of soccer games at Football Park I can tell you its a shocker of a place to watch soccer, slightly worse than Adelaide Oval even though Footy Pk does have a better surface than Adelaide Oval for soccer.

Yeah it was brought up again yesterday by the Central Coast coach but nothing official, last official word was Telstra Dome.

CENTRAL Coast Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna has called on Football Federation Australia to consider playing the A-League grand final at the MCG if the Melbourne Victory qualify.

McKinna, who will become an Australian citizen today in a ceremony at his side's final match of the season, believes the Melbourne public has supported the local A-League team so strongly that a crowd of 90,000 at the MCG would be likely for the final on February 18.

"Melbourne just about sold out the Telstra Dome for a league game," McKinna said, referring to the 50,333 crowd that went to see Melbourne and Sydney play last month. "Especially if they have to play Sydney in the grand final - with the Melbourne-Sydney rivalry - the crowd could be anything.

"Would they get a sell-out at the MCG? I don't see why not. I think it might blow a few people away.

"The Victorian public love their sport and, if they can get 95,000 to a Socceroos v Greece game that doesn't mean anything, you can get 95,000 people to a grand final.

"If Melbourne make the grand final, it will be a huge crowd whoever they play."

Although McKinna wishes his team could be in contention to challenge Melbourne, the season comes to an end today for the grand finalists from last season.

It has been a fruitful season for the Mariners off the field. They have averaged 9998 fans at home, a 27 per cent increase.

Asked if football in Australia was in good shape, McKinna said: "Look at this season - the crowds in Queensland were huge, we broke our crowd record, Melbourne broke the league record, Newcastle are doing well. The state of the game is good, but we still have a way to go.

"The FFA acknowledge that. They know we need a reserve league, bigger squads and other things. But we're going the right way."

Scottish-born McKinna last year signed a five-year deal to coach the Mariners. He loves living on the Central Coast and is proud that he and wife Christine will officially become Australians.

"It's our home now," he said. "I class myself as an Aussie.

"Maybe now they'll start looking at me as an Australian coach. I keep getting labelled a British coach.

"Ernie Merrick too - he's been here over 30 years and I've been here over 20 years.

"Maybe I don't speak like an Aussie, but what does an Aussie sound like? It's a multicultural country. I'm an Aussie and now I'll have a piece of paper to say so. No one can argue."

Not having been at Hindmarsh for years I'm interested to know if there's anywhere temp stands could be put up like the old days? (I assume not with the new design)

Simple answer is to kick Adelaide out of the finals and replace them with the Roar and host it at Suncorp.
