Challenge To All Sports Fans

Adelaide United FC Chief Executive Officer Michael Petrillo has issued a challenge to all sports fans to come out and support their State this Thursday Night at Hindmarsh Stadium.

“This game is not just club versus club it’s much deeper than that, It’s state versus state, SA against the Vics, there is no better sporting rivalry in this country than SA versus Victoria. This game is so important to both teams in the context of the season and the players would love to see a full house this Thursday when we take on the Vics.”

“We had a good crowd there last Sunday considering the atrocious weather. However, there’s no excuse not to get out there this Thursday night as the forecast is perfect. “

“Melbourne considered themselves unlucky to lose to us on both occasions so a victory this week may change their opinion of our side. I know the Victorians don’t rate us very highly but we’re used to that by now.”

“I’d love to see a packed Hindmarsh covered in a sea of Red giving the Vics a bit of stick and getting behind our team by being as vocal as possible. Last game at Olympic Park their (Melbourne) supporters were there in droves giving it to our boys, so we owe them one.”

“The challenge is out not only to Football (soccer) supporters but to sports fans in general.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Come on, you know you want to, a chance to sink some beer and give the Melbourne lot a serve. Just the thing every true-blue South Aussie wants to do!

As I said in The Roost:

As for being South Australia v Victoria, that's the biggest lot of crap I've heard for a long time.
It would be like someone telling you to barrack for the Port Power against another club you'd followed your whole life just because its SA v VIC.

Go the Melbourne Victory (even if not for my usual dislike of Adelaide United then just to stick it to idiots (like KG and Cornsey) that make up this sort of stupid paranoia.)

As for the idiot in your quote saying its not club v club and that its state v state it just goes to show why any sane person wouldn't have anything to do with the club. I don't think Wreck or Pugh have lived their whole lives here by memory.

Be a sad reflection on the state if anyone falls for this crap.
All true SA sports fans would dismiss this rubbish for what it is. Rolling Eyes

not the best game to watch last night, but a decent crowd and a great result under the circumstances. i just hope that people realise that its a big difference coming off a 4 day break instead of a week or whatever melbourne had. a few extra days makes a difference and you could see that adelaide were tired and mostly outplayed in the second half. but in that context it was a great fighting win.

hopefully rech's hamstring injury is only minor and they just rested him given that we already have a double chance for the finals.

go the reds!
