Would be interested to hear any news about the state of the local football leagues.
When I lived there, I played for Salisbury FC. We had a pretty decent side too. I also played for South Australia.

The leagues used to be made up of mostly Greek or Italian teams Hellas, Polonia, Juventus etc. I used to get some insight from the Football Pools, as they switched to the Australian leagues during the UK summer, but that doesn't seem to happen anymore.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone. Or even a web link.

Cheers JTC

In BEST league, good old Adelaide City AKA Juventus have it won, over Campbelltown and Adelaide Galaxy.
Looks like White City and Modbury may go down...
In PREMIER league it's pretty tight with Croydon on top followed by Enfield, Strikers and Hills Hawks
In STATE league Noarlunga and Comets look the goods...

I've lost touch with who was Polonia, Hellas etc, as the FFSA de-ethnicised the clubs by making them take a
non denomination name BUT clubs like City, are Juventus always will be ! They still wear the Juve strip and have
some superb facilities out at Oakden...

The FFSA site is a good place for a look.

Cheers

City are closing in on their grandfather's record wining streak of the 50's what ever that was. Currently 13 pts clear of Cambelltown in 2nd and undefeated with 3 draws in 15 games. City smashed bottom side Modbury 4-1 on the weekend

Salisbury FC are 5th in the State League sitting mid table with 6 wins 3 draws and seven losses. Salisbury went down 1-0 to Noarlunga the top side in the state league.

Thanks Sjab. Will set the link as one of my favourites for the future.

Good old Modbury, brings back some memories for me. Once scored four against them, two counted and two didn't. The two that got away were definitely in, the keeper saved both times from behind the line. :o  Bloody linesman, should have learnt to keep up with play. :( Guess he wouold be about 80 now so I'm sure he won't be losing any sleep over that game.

Thanks heater31. Last time I got any results, Salisbury were still in the Premier League. Remember playing at Cambeltown a few times, (vaguely). They were a pretty good side than and seemed to have kept that consistency for many a long year.
