Yep, but Fergie generally plays the 2nd 11 in the League Cup. Unlike Arsene who says he's going to, does in earlier rounds, then brings back all his 1st teamers and still bitches and moans that Ar5ena1 are blooding their youngsters when they get done.

Bloody great effort by Derby. Could have won by more too.

Looking at both ties, Derby was always going to be up against it. I think paying the 1st leg at home is a disadvantage to begin with. Both sides now know what they have to do, and Man U have the home advantage. I suspect Fergie will play a stronger line up at Old Trafford knowing he needs to score twice.

I would have given Derby half a chance had they been 1 - 0 up after the 1st leg at Old Trafford, and with home advantage in the 2nd leg.

Burnley now have home advantage (if there is any, against a premiership side), and it is a shame that we couldn't hold them to 3 - 1 or 4 - 2. A 3 goal deficite is a big ask, but it will depend on which Spurs side turns up. They won't fancy a trip to cold Lancashire, and they must feel that they have done enough and will Harry field a weakend side. With home advantage and an early goal you never know ???

So what are people predicting in the return legs of the Carling cup this week. Think Man U should overcome Derby at Old Trafford rather easily, think scoreline will be 3-0. Tottenham should also get up 2-1.

SAF doesnt care about the CC, so I expect him to play the U12's. I doubt he'll risk Berba and Tevez considering Rooney is injured, as he needs them both fit and firing in the FA Cup against us Yids on Saturday and also for their current title push. I actually think Derby will have a great chance, but the Mancs at OT are a big ask. I'm gonna tip a 1-1 draw with Derby going to Wembley.

On the other game, as JTC said, 3 goals is a monster deficit and if Spurs can score (ie if Darren the cock arse Bent isn't playing) it's pretty much tie over. Having said that, Darren the retard will probably have to play as Pavlyuchenko is injured and Defoe and Cambell are too similar.

So, Derby v Spurs at Wembley!

TBH, I'd actually preferSpurs v Manure as it would be like Christmas to beat old red nose at Wembley and see Berbatov receive a losers medal.

I think Man Utd will overcome Derby even with a second rate side. Would love to play Spurs in the final but wouldn't lose any sleep if they didn't make it through. Would rather end Spurs FA cup hopes than win the Carling cup.

Just like Utd's second rate side overcame Coventry in last year's League Cup.

Suits me actually, as the FA Cup is Spurs lowest priority in our current predicament - An injury list a mile long, CC semi final which could produce a final, which with a win would ensure Europe for us again next term, UEFA Cup - last 32 game against Shaktar Dhonestk coming up in Feb, plus most important of all - a massive fight to get out of relegation territory starting at home against Stoke in 2 weeks.

I hope Spurs play a side that looks like this against Utd in the FA Cup:

Alnwick
Gunter Smith Rocha Bale
Ghaly Huddlestone Taarabt O hara
Dos Santos
Pekhart

Paveylcheno (sp) wll be playing on Wednesday. bugger. :(

Still it has been snowing like f$%k today and more expected tomorrow so maybe those pussies from Spurs might not fancy playing in the sleet. Burnlet put in a great performance against PNE on saturday and absolutely battered them, so even though we lost to two penalties, I think confidence will be pretty good.

Arry on the other hand, has other more pressing matters on his mind. 21 in total. ;)

Manchester win 4-2 Derby scoring two late goals. Looks like some more silverwear on it's way back to Old Trafford.

Man U v Tottenham or Burnley in the final.

Makes nice reading for a Claret fan

God help Man U if Burnley overcome a 3 - 0 deficit.

Ledley King, Corluca (sp) and Lennon, all out for spurs. Capt Caldwell and Thompson (cup tied), out for the Clarets.

The weather has been stinking up here for th last couple of days with snow, sleet, strong winds and freezing temperatures. I am sure the tottenham pussies will be lookinmg forward to this one (not).

Unlucky to Derby. I see Utd got a penalty at 3 -1 before Barnes got his 2nd of the game to make it 4 - 3. What with the away goals rule 3 - 3 would have done nicely for the Rams .

Her's the extended match report, just in case you didn't get to see the game Jabber

Manchester United booked a place in the Carling Cup final but were pushed all the way by Derby, who lost 4-3 on aggregate at Old Trafford.
Nigel Clough's Rams took a 1-0 lead from the first leg into Tuesday night's semi-final, but were 3-1 down on aggregate after just 34 minutes at the Theatre of Dreams following goals from Nani, John O'Shea and Carlos Tevez.

The visitors refused to give up their Wembley dream, though, and delivered an outstanding second-half display, which saw a period of domination rewarded with a Giles Barnes penalty 10 minutes from time.
That set up a grandstand finish which saw Barnes steer a good headed chance straight at the grateful Ben Foster on 84 minutes.

But the Red Devils played keep-ball for the closing stages, and won a penalty of their own on 87 after Roy Carroll fouled Tevez, with sub Cristiano Ronaldo keeping his cool to convert the spot-kick to make it 4-1 on the night.
Barnes, who had replaced Kris Commons on 69, curled in a delicious 20-yard free-kick in stoppage time - but it was too little, too late.

The game started well for Derby, with first-leg hero Commons whistling a fierce 25-yard strike narrowly wide of the upright.
It was United who opened the scoring, though, when Nani thumped an unstoppable 25-yard angled drive past the diving Carroll on 16 minutes.

It was 2-0 six minutes later when Tevez and Danny Welbeck combined superbly to set up O'Shea, who had far too much time to sidefoot home.
Welbeck was denied by a fine Carroll save, but the Rams keeper was beaten again on 34, when Rafael's right-wing cross was headed home by a completely-unmarked Tevez.

After the break, the Rams emerged rejuvenated by a half-time blast from Clough and took the game to Sir Alex Ferguson's men, with Commons, Rob Hulse and Paul Green all spurning good chances.
The introduction of fit-again midfielder Barnes brought the tie to life, but he could not prevent United from booking another trip to Wembley, where they will face either Burnley or Tottenham, who play on Wednesday night.
