Watched the game. Observations: I thought Webb had a great game, let the play flow, kept a lid on any hotheaded play and didn't ruin it by flashing yellows too early.
Thought Roszykski was very lucky not to get a booking early one, with 3 very poor challenges.
Nasri was the poorest of a poor Arsenal side who showed nothing of thier championship credentials.
United weren't great either and bottled it up in midfield, a tactic that has worked very well for Fergie against the gunners in the past. But what was outstanding was Utds defending. Now they have Vidic and Ferdinand back at the centre of defence you just can't see many sides scoring more than the odd goal against them.

Its funny how games go. Park scored the only goal of the match but i thought he was the worst player on the pitch. He was terrible but goes down in the records as the match winner. Arsenal were poor didnt offer much hardly saw nasri thank goodness.
Agree about our defence, copped a lot of stick last year when i said rio was our most important player and his time off probably cost us the title. Cant see us conceding many goals for rest of season

News here and in Dubai is that the Qatar royal family have just made a £1.5 billion offer to buy Man Utd. The Glazers have turned it down stating they want £2b.

They have paid off a £230m loan recently, clearing out the high interest loan, with money thought to come from a wealthy investor. This investor is believed to Qatar, who have taken a stack in the club.

Reports are that Qatar are positioning themselves for a further offer, possibly around the £1.8b as they ownership of a major premier league outfit as an advantage leading up to the 2022 world cup.

What is the significance of MU's huge debt? Is it a threat to continued prosperity throughout this decade?

No big threat. If the debt gets too big they will offload it. With uniteds power and world appeal there would be no shortage of billionaires waiting to step in

On th contrary, thier huge debt is extremely threatening to thier future success. It sucks out all the profit and leaves them devoid of any significant transfer funds unless they off load players. United made £43m profit before tax and that included the £80m they made out of the sale of Ronaldo.

They helped to refinance the club by launching £500m bond issue but each bond holder is due 8% return p.a. which is little difference to the clubs loan rate. The club did this as the debt was spiralling beyond anything controllable. All they did was prolong the inevitable.

The £230m that has been paid off is with further investment money, not revenue the club has generated.

As big as they are, United simply cannot generate enough income to keep up with the loan repayments

but as much as they are in debt and as much as i would love them to go into administration i doubt this would happen to them. A billionaire will come in and buy the club being as much as i hate to say it the most famous football club in the world. Then they will be debt free. Its writing on the wall mate they will be bailed out by someone.

Just watched Rooney's elbow again
Absolutely disgraceful. Unprovoked king hit and to hear Fergie and Whelan defend what happened is shameful.
Piss poor all round and another example of how United get the decisions

What makes it worse JIM is that the powers that be, the FA, have said they won't take any further action.
