Fergie has agreed to sell Berbatov in the summer. Due to lack of game time both parties have agreed its time to move on. Juve look the front runners at this stage but a cashed up PSG are also keen on him

Yes but he has always been happy at Arsenal. Maybe now he is seeing the end of his Arsenal tenure so it might be an inviting prospect. He has often said he loves living in London and wants to see England do well, i cant see him going to another EPL side but i cant see him not coaching either. Maybe a perfect fit for him

he has clearly stated also on numerous occasions he would never coach england if he left arsenal, think its just tottingham supporters and the media spreading rumours.....trying to ease the weight on twitching neck Harry R so as they can win a game/

i have known to be wrong thou he may have changed his mind, but doubt it, his response was the english team will never do well due to the foregin players that dominate the EPL. best league in the world but when the players are put together from all the top sides for england they dont gel..

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger in running for England job as FA looks at options beyond Harry Redknapp

The FA has been desperate to deflect public scrutiny over the position since it and Fabio Capello terminated the Italian’s contract by mutual consent four months before the European Championships kick off.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Redknapp has been the favourite to take over since, but preliminary work is being undertaken over possible alternatives.

Telegraph Sport understands the FA’s chairman, David Bernstein, has been seeking private advice from respected figures in the game about Redknapp’s north London rival, Wenger.

Although Alex Horne, the FA’s general secretary, confirmed this month that a list of names had been drawn up, he said the appointment decision would not be taken until “the back end of the season”.

Bernstein heads the four-man recruitment group that also comprises Horne, Sir Trevor Brooking as the FA’s director of football development and the Club England managing director, Adrian Bevington.
One FA insider said: “We’ve been very careful about people on the list and we will look to the end of the season before we approach anyone.”

Wenger, who has frequently expressed his principle that an Englishman should manage the England team, was asked in the immediate aftermath of Capello’s departure last month whether he was interested in the post. His instant response was: “No.” But he was then asked if he would ever be interested and replied: “England is a big football country, with nearly 65 million people and a passion for the game.

"I love England and I want England to do well and therefore I let the FA deal with that problem.”

Asked who might be a good choice, Wenger said: “I don’t want to interfere with that at all.”

Although the Arsenal manager has not personally been approached, there is a belief within his club that he might be tempted to accept the role if he were formally pursued, even though his team are enjoying a spell of superb form.

Wenger has nevertheless felt some frustration over his team’s failings in recent Premier League campaigns. “He’s had dark moments for a couple of seasons and he’ll wonder whether it’s what he wants to keep doing,” said an Emirates Stadium source.

It is thought Wenger feels that the significant advantage his extensive scouting network once afforded him has now been eroded.

“[When he arrived] the transfer market was unsophisticated and now everyone is looking at the players you’re looking at,” added the Arsenal source.

“There’s no advantage in being the first to see that French left-back because everyone’s out there doing it and players very quickly start to reach their true value in transfer and wage terms.”

Where Wenger adds considerable value is in coaching raw talents such as Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira, who grew into world-class players under the Frenchman’s tutelage.

With public opinion firmly behind Redknapp, few alternative managers would be as saleable as the Tottenham man. But Wenger, the winner of two League and FA Cup doubles and the only man in English football history to have guided a team through a 20-plus club League season without defeat, would be persuasive.

Moreover the FA is braced for a multimillion-pound battle with Spurs over compensation for Redknapp’s services but might face less resistance at the Emirates.

“We’re at the start of a long rebuilding process and there’s been seven years without a trophy,” said the insider. “It’s everyone’s guilty secret that they think Arsène might be the wrong man for the job but no one will say it.”

Bernstein chose not to reply when Telegraph Sport put it to him he had inquired about Wenger’s suitability. An FA spokesman also declined to comment.

From the bit in bold, how the **** did they come up with that story heading?

"I love England" must mean "I want to manage England for the rest of my career". Terrible journalism but what else do you expect?

A Spurs 'In the Know' guru has posted that Harry will be mnaging England at the Euro's. Story to break tomorrow/Tuesday in the UK.

I'm not surprised.

He's done better things at Spurs than I could have ever dreamed of, but the THFC is bigger than Harry Redknapp, so if his head's been turned, so be it.

United trounced Wolves 5-0 and sent them to bottom.
Wolves lucky it wasnt 10-0, their defending was schoolboy stuff and they were an absolute rabble.
Great to score 5 without Rooney getting on the scoresheet either.
Got our GD with City back to 3 which could be crucial.
4 points clear now, its up to City to respond, come on you Chavs!!!
McCarthy was a knob but atleast he had some discipline and structure, think Wolves have conceded 14 goals from last 3.
They are certainties to be relegated now, changing managers doesnt always work

Chelski are in decent form and are actually scoring goals now, that should give them the confidence to take it up to City.

After seeing the highlights just then, that is some of the worst defending I've ever seen. The amount of times Wolves left United players unmarked inside the box was terrible, starting with the first goal Carrick didn't have a player anywhere near him. They will need a big turn around to survive and I can't see that happening.

No shots on target and only 2 shots at goal for Sunderland.
Rovers now 6 points clear and looking safe

Big game tomorrow morning, come on Chelsea. I'd love to see Torres score the winner.

In other news Messi broke Barca's all time scoring record of 232 this morning with another hat-trick. At the age of 24. Ridiculous really.

He has 48 goals in 40 games this season with 8 hat-tricks.

City beat Chavski 2-1, the Chavs crumbled in the last 10 minutes after leading. Torres was back to his usual form now that he wasnt playing against a Championship side.
Spurs needed an injury time goal by Raph to grab a 1-1 draw with Stoke.
Arsenal moved up to 3rd with a 1-0 win over Everton.
Liverpool coughed up a 2 goal lead with QPR scoring 3 times in the last 10 minutes, great 3-2 win for the R's gets them out of the drop zone and dents Liverpool's hopes of European action.

If your going to take digs at least state properly what happened. He was tracking back tackling, making runs and the reason he didn't have a shot is because he was playing as a lone striker in a team that went there looking for a draw and they had 5 shots all game or he was crossing the ball in or making the space for the midfield to come though......you know how like football is played. yes we crumbled essien hand balled in the box and once they scored the game was always going to be there's.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

You are correct, he looked like he wanted to be out there today, his tackling and chasing was the best i have seen from him for a long time. Probably more of a dig at your mob for how they have destroyed him as a player, with the talent at your disposal you should never play a lone striker and try to play for a draw. They are a fantastic team when they play attacking football instead of this crap they served up today, City were off today and you should have buried them. At the end of they day you paid for a guy who scores goals, if you are not going to use him properly then you might aswell sell him. With Torres/Drogba/Sturridge up front aswell as quality like Mata, Fat Frank, Essien and Co you still have probably the strongest squad in the league, should be a lot higher than 5th
