Bugger me - Spurs kept a clean sheet despite some disgraceful defending. Well done Robbo - Eng-lands numer one, he's englands number ONE!!!!!

Carling Cup Results:

Spurs 2 - Blackpool 0
Chelski 4 - Leicester 3 - Shevchenko starting to score under Avram and Fat Frank with a brace.
Liverpool 2 - Cardiff 1 - Not quite for Robbie, but had a cracking strike saved at the Kop which would have been a dream return to Anfield. Harry Cool played 20 mins for the Reds.
Arse 3 - Sheffield 0 - Once again Arse prove their depth and just how far ahead of everyone else they really are. IMO, they'll take out everything this year. Carney was again very impressive for the Blades.

It's deiniftely the match of the season so far IMO.

Manure are starting to hit their straps and have put together some decent performances in recent weeks. Your Gooners have passed the ball as well as any side in history. They're all confidence at the moment.

I think it will be an Arse*** victory, probably 2-1.

I've had a look for tickets to this one, but to no avail. I'm not prepared to pay £200 when my side isn't playing! Will have to settle for good old Sky. It's a must watch game, that's for sure!

I found some stats on the loudest Premier League crowds:

1. Sunderland (129.2 average decibels)
2. TOTTENHAM (128.3) – Super Tottenham!! We’re in the top 4 of SOMETHING!!! COME ON YOU SPURS!
3. Man City (127.4)
4. Villa (126.5)
5. Everton (126.1)
6. Chelski (125.8 ) – Roman, how much did it cost you to get on this list?
7. Boro (125.4) Huh? – with their half empty stadium?
8. Derby (124.7) – Gotta hand it to the Derby faithful. They’re a very well supported club.
9. Geordies (124.5)
10. West Spam (123.8 )

Notable absentees:
Portsmouth – Their fans always seem to make stacks of noise, drums, whistles etc. Benjani – oooohhhhoohhh, Benjani - ooohhhhooohhhhh
Arsenal – Highbury the library!
Manu – Cake holes full of prawn sandwiches!
Liverpool – Thought the Kop with their renditions of You’ll Never Walk Alone would be high on the list – not even in the top 10!

Arsenal 2 - Manure 2

Great game - fulfilled its big billing. Arsenal left until the 93rd to secure a point. Both sides dominated in patches and shared points was probably a fitting result.

One comment that has to be made is that Hargraeves is the worst player in the premier league and should not be getting a game. He is absolutely useless.

Long time ago since I went to England (last season of the old 1st Division - 1992), but certainly at the Derby v Newcastle game I went to at the Baseball Ground (10/10 ground for atmosphere), the Geordies blew the Rams fans away with 90 minutes of non stop singing. Keegan had just taken over and Toon alswere hovering near the bottom of the 2nd Division but they were fantastic. Especially considering they had two players sent off and got hammered 4-1. :D

I also stood with Portsmouth away at Cambridge, albeit around a bit from the main crew. How they start those Pompey Chimes all together on cue amazed me.

Chelsea v Arsenal was also amusing - I stood at the back of The Shed. Saw some pretty scary looking characters.

Were you at the baseball ground the day Derby played Burnley in the FA cup. Derby 1st divi (EPL now) and the Clarets 3rd Divi.

We lost but we stayed behind for about 3/4 hour singing "Jimmy Mullins claret & Blue Army" :) . Made it onto the news.

Heard a bit later that in a game against Villa, when the Villa fans started chanting "?????? insert managers name here??? claret and blue army" the Derby fans started chanting "Jimmy Mullins Claret & Blue Army"

Arsenal vs Man Utd was a cracking game, pretty disappointed not to beat them at the Emirates but for once United attacked a big club away from home. Very entertaining game and the best match I've seen this season.

Man. City 0 - 0 Sunderland
West Ham 1 - 1 Bolton
Newcastle 1 - 4 Portsmouth
Allardyce' first home defeat and Portsmouth were absolutely dominant. Look a good prospect for Europe this year.
Arsenal 2 - 2 Man. Utd.
Great game of football. Both sides evenly matched and a draw was a fair result in the end. Gallas scored at both ends. These two are a cut above the rest, with maybe Chelski coming a close 3rd.
Aston Villa 2 - 0 Derby
Derby committed defensive suicide again. Held Villa pretty comfortably for 60 mins or so then bump. The back four just went to sleep.
b4stards 0 - 0 Liverpool
Pool took about an hour to actually wake up and realise they were in a game. Hate to say it but the b4st4rds could and should have put this one away before then. Last 20 minutes were all Liverpool after Kewell and Crouch came on. Kuyt is hopeless and should have had teo after missing easy shots. How long will Gerrard put up with this I wonder.
Everton 3 - 1 Birmingham
Everton killed this game off quickly. Birmingham will be in a relegation battle and Steve Bruce will get the bump when the new owners take over IMHO
Middlesbrough 1- 1 Tottenham
Good old Spurs. Can you really see Ramos doing a better job then Jol. NUP, NO WAY. Spus have what it takes to pull away from some of the other no hopers, but you can see the nerves when they take the lead and the heads drop when they give up lead (as is now customary). It's about confidence.
Fulham 3 - 1 Reading
Reading a suffering from that '2nd time around' desease. They were better than Fulham for most of the game and when they scored they should have gone on to bury Sanchez' mob, but for some reason they went to sleep and Fulham took full advantage. Good goal from poacher Healy.
Wigan 0 - 2 Chelsea
No late disappointment for Wigan this season after conceding a losser in the final minutes in both their previous home games against Chelski. Wigan are a one man team and have just sacked their coach. guess who's name is in the frame for the job. PAUL JEWEL ??????

Liverpool 8 (YES EIGHT!) - Beshiktas 0

All time record Champions League winning margin!

Scorers:

Crouch x 2
Benayoun x 3 One of the best individual performances you'll see. He was unstoppable and everything fell his way. Hopefully for Englands Euro 2008 campaign's sake, he's on fire in 2 weeks time!
Babel x 2 (Although his 2nd was very dubiously awarded to him) Was unlucky not to have a hattrick after an awesome cross from HARRY KEWELL)
Gerrard

SSOOOOOOOOO good to see Harry back in a Liverpool shirt. Looked very good down the left in his 25 mins. Hopefully he can get up towards 60 mins soon and stay injury free!

So the Reds are still in Europe for now and the pressure is temporarily off Rafa.

Saturdays Round Up

Sunderland's derby clash with local rivals Newcastle ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw after a performance that could and should have secured three badly needed points for Roy Keane's side.

The day's only other match in the top flight saw West Ham inflict a demoralising 5-0 defeat on bottom side Derby in front of their own supporters.

Sunderland looked set to claim local bragging rights when Danny Higginbotham headed them into a 52nd minute lead at the Stadium Light.

But they allowed Newcastle to equalise when James Milner's cross crept in at the far post and they are slipping dangerously close to the relegation zone after going seven games without a win.

Trinidad striker Kenwyne Jones missed a glorious chance and former Newcastle player Michael Chopra hit the bar as Sunderland pushed for victory in the closing stages and Keane said the missed opportunities should serve as a lesson for his struggling squad.

"The beauty of the Premiership is if you don't take your chances it will come back to haunt you and that's what happened," said the Irishman.

"We can talk all day about luck but the players had the chances. We keep getting these lessons in the Premiership."

Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce admitted he was relieved to have avoided defeat in his first derby in charge of the Magpies.

"It's a little bit more acceptable if you come back from a goal down away from home in a derby game and get a draw. It's a big local derby and we haven't lost. That's very important for the fans.

"Up until the goal Sunderland had out-muscled us and we couldn't get our passing game going. Their goal was disappointing. We can't afford to keep giving silly mistakes away."

Fernando Torres came off the bench to keep Liverpool's Premier League title bid on track by inspiring the Reds to a last-gasp win over Fulham on Saturday.

Rafael Benitez's side had laboured for over eighty minutes to break down the Cottagers at Anfield.

But after Torres brilliantly breached their defences nine minutes from time, they finally ran out 2-0 winners thanks to an 85th-minute penalty from skipper Steven Gerrard.

The win lifted Liverpool into fourth place in the table, three points adrift of joint leaders Arsenal, who travel to Reading on Monday, and Manchester United, who host Blackburn 24 hours earlier.

West Ham took until four minutes before half-time to break down Derby's defence, with Lee Bowyer giving them the advantage.

But Alan Curbishley's side were ruthless after the restart, killing the match with three goals in the space of eight minutes.

Bowyer teed up Matt Etherington to fire home six minutes into the half. An unlucky own goal by Eddie Lewis followed and Bowyer finished off a sweeping counter-attack to claim his second of the afternoon.

Nolberto Solano rounded off a win that lifts West Ham into the top half of the table with a superb free-kick that found the top corner of the net.

"A crazy 10-15 minutes cost us dearly and at the end it was men against boys," Derby boss Billy Davies admitted.

Curbishley added: "The first goal was always going to be the vital one and we managed to get it. That settled us down and put Derby on the back foot. It's very difficult when you're down the bottom there and you go one down."
