Come on Bully, did you watch the match? Another scabby effort where Wolves were right in it until they went down to 10 men. 1st yellow, no doubt but the 2nd was a bit soft. And the ref booked the wrong player at first, what a fiasco.

Gerrards goal was superb, and showed great determination to win the header. Without him Liverpool are totally stuffed imo.

Still, I guess Rafa gets to keep his job for another week, even though he has had the dreaded vote of confidence.

Personally, I think there are too many other better sides challenging this year.

OK if Man U and Chelski are a given, then there is Arsenal, Villa, followed by Spurs and City (under Mancini), I would think Liverpool will have thier work cut out to steal a top four berth this year.

Still an unconvincing display for mine.
I did however think a goal wasn't far away even when wolves had 11 men.
The ref stuffed up by booking the wrong player and was influenced by players to review his decision, which in my opinion is wrong as you are encouraging players to do that again in the future if they think something is wrong, and the last thing they need is 15 players around him swearing and arguing.
If the ref got it wrong, bad luck, just don't let the players influence your decision making.
Lucas is still shit.
Pacheco looks good from what I saw, big wraps on this lad.
Spearing looks like a useless jellybaby, I hope we got better local talent coming through than him.
I'm still confident of finishing top 4, even though the Europa Cup is the biggest prize of all.
This season could be the most even in a long time and a lower than usual points tally could just do it.

Liverpool seem to have hit their straps now and the competition for a top four spot has really hotted up with Tottenham, Villa, Liverpool, City and Birmingham all looking to join Chelsea, United and Arsenal in the top four.

There was something in the air that night, the stars were bright, FERNANDO!!!!!!

Pretty lucky perhaps, but we'll take it! I think they call that a "slide rule finish"? I almost hit the roof at home! Certainly came to work with a smile on my dial, which is unusual!

Amazing what can happen when Rafa leaves the great man on for the full 90 minutes!!

I only saw the last 20-odd minutes of the game, but I thought we looked much better than in recent times (although Ryan Babel needs to join Lucas at the "How To Use My Head" school for underachievers) and I was quite confident we could score.

I haven't seen much of Villa recently, so it's hard to know if they played well or are perhaps suffering a mini down patch after their clubbing at the Emirates?

Either way, I was like you Jack, nearly went through the freaking ceiling and it's nice to have had at least one of those experiences now for the season. :D

Same Connie, only probably saw from 55 mins onwards, but seeing the highlights after the game, it looked like Villa should've scored at least twice. Downing nailed a volley from point blank range straight at Reina, and Carew with a header took the harder option of missing! Reina also made a great one-on-one save against Agbonlahor. Anyway, all counts for nought now! :D

Too true mate ... I like Villa and have always had a soft spot for O'Neill since his Celtic days, but given the competition for 4th place that was a pretty crucial result for us this morning! :D

The Liverpool v Tottenham game at Anfield in a week or so is also crucial for you and for Spurs. A Liverpool win will see them nudging fourth spot and a Spurs win will make it very hard for the reds to make the top four. Can't wait!

Sorry guys, I think you might have watched that game through rose coloured glasses. imo Villa had by far the better chances and by far the better possesion. Still it shows you have to concentrate till the whistle and not just for 90 minutes. One lapse, 93 mins gone and you are punished.

Great confidence booster for Liverpool tough, and that is something that has appeared a bit fragile this year. I noticed how quickly thier heads dropped when Pompey put in thier fist goal a week or two back.

I still think that Villa will bounce back and of a full season they will prove a more consistent outfit than Rafa's boys, Arsenal are looking a decent side considering the absence of Fabregas and Denilson from thier midfield and City have had a good festive time under new manager Mancini

i guess i agree with city winning but they havent played a team in the top half of the table yet, stoke at home then wolves, you would think they would win those games anyway with or without a new manager

ANDREA DOSSENA has completed his £4million switch from Liverpool to Napoli as Maxi Rodriguez prepares to move to Anfield.

Left-back Dossena underwent a medical yesterday and signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the Italian club.

Rodriguez has informed his Atletico Madrid team-mates he is going to make the switch to Liverpool and the deal is believed to be worth £1.5million.

The Argentina international is expected to sign an 18-month contract and will link up with compatriot Javier Mascherano and former team-mate Fernando Torres.

Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin is on the verge of sealing a £2million move to Dinamo Moscow but Ryan Babel looks set to remain at Anfield.

The club have rejected an £9million bid from Birmingham City and their manager Alex McLeish has now set his sights on other options.

McLeish said: “Is there any movement with Babel situation? No, we’ve been told he is not for sale.”

Birmingham’s offer failed to meet Liverpool’s valuation, but it was also turned down because manager Rafael Benitez has been told any funds generated by sales in January will not be available to reinvest in new signings during the transfer window.

Tom Hicks Jnr resigns as Liverpool director after his extraordinary foul-mouthed rant stuns supporters

Tom Hicks Jnr has resigned as a director of Liverpool following his foul-mouthed attack on a fan.
The club announced the son of American co-owner Tom Hicks had resigned as a director of both the club and its parent company, Kop Holdings.
The American became embroiled in controversy when it emerged he had responded abusively when supporter Stephen Horner contacted him directly about the state of the club and their finances.

Mr Horner was first branded an 'idiot' by Hicks Jnr in an initial response to an email outlining the 29-year old London-based fan's concerns over a lack of transfer funds for manager Rafa Benitez.
When Mr.Horner wrote again, reiterating his misgivings, he was left stunned by a reply from Hicks Jnr that read: 'Blow me, ****face. Go to hell. I'm sick of you.'

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Isn't that how they all talk to each other in Scouseland ;)
