Will this saga ever end. Well apparently it will be over by Christmas Hmmmmm

Thanks to the Setanta Sports News

Newcastle United will be sold by December, says man in charge of deal

Following this morning's revelation that seven clubs have tabled offers for Newcastle United, the man charged with sealing the deal has said it will go through by December.
Keith Harris of Seymour Pierce was asked to broker a deal to sell the Magpies after owner and sportswear magnate Mike Ashley put the club up for sale exactly one month ago.
It's been a month of extraordinary turbulence in all the world's financial markets but we've been progressing with this, we've been sieving and sifting," Harris told Setanta Sports News.

"There isn't an official deadline but we all know what importance people have in respect to the transfer windows. We would expect any new buyer to be in place with his manager to have the opportunity to assess the team as to what needs to be done in January. Somebody would want four to five, maybe six weeks to do that, which takes us broadly to the middle of November."

South African businessman Jonathan Cleland has declared his interest in the club and a Nigerian consortium is also thought to be preparing to lodge a bid.
Harris insists that reports suggesting Ashley was willing to drop his asking price for the club are unfounded. “When newspapers get hold of stories and can't get the figure they want they just invent one. Nobody I know knows where the £450million figure ever came from. So it's not been a question of dropping the price from that level. It's been a question of making sure people have the absolute facts."

So he has finally thrown his hat into the ring (or should I say '3 ring' :D)

Thanks to Five Live:

Shearer hints at Toon interest

Alan Shearer has given his clearest hint yet that he is ready to make his first steps in management with Newcastle United.

In the past Shearer has claimed his media work would prohibit taking up a role at St James' Park, although he has always been keen to express a desire to one day occupy the dugout.
At the weekend former Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson championed Shearer's cause; of the opinion the club's favourite son had the necessary 'clout' to make his mark at the troubled North East outfit.

Interim chief Joe Kinnear has led the club to two creditable draws during his time at the helm and has voiced a desire to land the position on a permanent basis. However, it seems more than likely the former Wimbledon and Nottingham Forest boss will be overlooked for a more high profile candidate, once issues over the club's ownership are resolved.

And Shearer concedes he could be a name in the frame, telling Five Live: "Everyone knows that I've done part of my coaching badges. I haven't done my Uefa Pro Licence which is mandatory but I am going to do it at some stage. "Management interests me. I can't turn round and say 'yes, I would be delighted to come here (to Newcastle)', because that would be wrong of me.
"But management interests me, at some stage of my career. I wouldn't rule anything out. I am loving what I am doing at the moment. I have a huge respect for Joe Kinnear and good luck to him. No one would have turned that job down in his position."

I know they have been out of the news for a bit, but they have just become flavour of the week again.

Thanks to the Mail

Odds slashed on Alan Shearer

As Alan Shearer's odds of taking over at Newcastle expectedly shortened, midfielder Nicky Butt has admitted players are being kept in the dark about the future of manager Joe Kinnear and the club's long-term ownership.
Shearer's odds fell dramatically from 9-1 to 11-8, heightening speculation the former Newcastle and England captain could again be in line for a sensational return to St James's Park.

Advisers close to the BBC pundit, who turned down a coaching role in Kevin Keegan's coaching line-up last season, say he is still committed to his media work and is mystified by the sudden betting surge.

While Shearer's odds have shortened considerably, Kinnear is now the market favourite and he says he wants the St James's Park job full time.
His first contract will run until the Chelsea game at the end of the month but he is hoping owner Mike Ashley will re-new it beyond the end of the season.

Butt, who was named captain by Kinnear in Michael Owen's absence, said the Newcastle squad have no idea who will be in charge in the dressing room or boardroom as Ashley continues to seek a buyer. A consortium from the United States have opened talks with Ashley and are hoping to tie up a deal before the New Year.

FFS. this guy is injury prone. when is the last time, if ever, that Owen actually completed a full season.

Thanks to Skysports

OWEN SETBACK CONFIRMED

Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has confirmed Michael Owen suffered ankle-ligament damage during the Magpies' defeat at Manchester City on Wednesday and will be out for up to six weeks.

The England striker limped off 19 minutes into the 2-1 defeat at Eastlands after falling awkwardly on his left ankle following an aerial challenge.

"We will be without Michael now for between four and six weeks," Kinnear told Newcastle's official website.

Mr Insomnia had the last laugh by saying he'd never play for Kinnear again. So now the Magpies have lost one of their few good players for a pittance - reportedly 5m quid to Wigan with Ryan Taylor coming the other way as part of the deal.

Over sensitive prick? Probably not, rather the opportunity to get out of Toon. Just hasn't the guts to come out and say it as it is. This club is shite and will prpbably go down so I want to leave before it finally implodes, because I haven't the balls to stay and fight for a spot in the EPL.

If they don't reverse the current scoreline in the game at the moment, they'll be in the drop zone ... Things not looking good on Tyneside

LMFAO :)

Other than the Duff run (and correctly disallowed penalty) they haven't really looked too threatening near the Sunderland goal

Ameobi, gets his fiftieth goal for the TOons, but what a disgrace.

I want Toon to win this, only becuase that'll leave b4st4rds further in the mire but bugger me. that was just a joke call by the ref. Even Taylor coudn't believe he had won a penalty for that comical dive.

So no sleep at all tonight C_P. Talk about dedication to the Pool cause.

Turning into a typical N E derby. End to end stuff. Toon just had a goal disallowed, rightly so.

Question, will this finish 11 v 11 ??
