United didn't sell him to Real Madrid for a large amount of money, there is absolutely no way they would sell him to Man City.

So I'm guessing if a large consortium took Spurs over, Cesc would be the first player bought?

Why the rolling eyes Marty. You are assuming the the fans hatred for each other rolls up to the club and players.

Let me tell you, Man U couldn't give a rats arse for Man City. If anything the rivalry was towards Leeds and Liverpool, but even that was fan driven and not club driven. There have been many cross overs between Man U and City. Dennis Law famously scored the goal for City thet sent his old club Utd down. The only reason why there hasn't been many recently is because City could never afford them. And if you think Ronaldo gives a sh1t about Man U or Man C or Real for that matter, you are kidding yourself mate. Only the money counts.

Forget Man U seeling him to Real rather Man C. Man U is a business and they will get the best deal for Man U. Ronaldo is a prostitute and will plumb for the best deal for him. And Real will not come close to what City can and will offer. Trust me, if City are serious they will get Roanldo in Jan. and Torres, and Kaka, and Messi and Fabregas. With £550 billion they can afford to offer the kind of personal terms that all the sluts will find impossible to refuse.

And the divide grows...

Seriously they need to do something to stop all the crap....

FFS..NO-ONE is worth that sort of cash...NO-ONE...

The EPL will fall into a massive hole, if it hasn't already, as there realistically only
4/5 clubs of ever pushing for title. Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, probably now
Man City and perhaps Tottenham...

When will the day come when clubs from the Championship promotion, just go up into the
EPL, and do a run and grab (Derby anyone)..i.e not bolster the squad, not give a shit if they
get demoted, and just take the cash and drop back down....

Wonder when the first club to REJECT, the promotion spot will be....

They need to put in a foreign quota, and look at a cap of some sorts....

2nd of those points is the key one mate, as without, someone like Man City will just purchase Gerrard, Terry, Rooney, Ferdinand etc etc to go with their Ronaldo, Torres, Fabregas purchases etc.

That said, and trust me I only ever compliment Man U through gritted teeth ... A club like them and Arsenal have done everything the right way to increase their revenue streams and improve their business models to take them to a dominant position without the get out of jail card some of the world's richest people provide, and they probably shouldn't be limited in what they can or can't spend when they've done the right thing.

Tough one, but I think we all agree that something's gotta give, but it probably won't happen before we see a lot of casualties along the way.

How many times has that been used now?

I've heard Noel Gallagher use it, apparently it was on a City forum, a person on another forum quoted it, and now some random with a camera in his face drops it!

I couldn't say for all of them, but Steven Gerrard has been exceptionally loyal in terms of $$ and achievements he could have enjoyed elsewhere, had he left Merseyside.

Manchester City Season 2008/9

Postby johntheclaret » Sun Sep 28, 2008 7:05 pm

City have also been one of the headliners so far this season and no doubt with the Arab moneybags in charge they are going to be making some more pretty spectacular headlines as we race to the Jan window.

I have merged the Shinawatra sells City topic here too.

loyal in what way.....correct me if im wrong but when real madrid was knocking the doors down at man united for him earlier this season didnt he want to move to them, or along the lines of him saying that he wanted to go for the right price? and his manager was keen to make the move aswell.when the cash is flowing then no one over there seems to be loyal. :)

Mate, the "over there" is irrelevent. Every professional sportsman and sportswoman wants fame and fortune. It is what drives them on to bigger and better things, and that includes anyone who competes in a professional sport. Come to think of it, even the amatures want fame and fortune. So it isn't just restricted to "over here".

btw, I agree with the rest of your statement and imo you're pretty much spot on. That's why, also imo, that Ronaldo would go to City id the offer was right.
