Guess we have to be happy with a draw from that position but you have to ask questions about letting Watford go 2 up in the 1st place

You'd think after a 6-3 scoreline I'd be happy but for an hour it was terrible
Clarets went 1-0 up after a stonewall penalty and increased their lead after a second penalty. Both were pretty legit and both taken by Jay Rod. Burton pulled one back with the best goal of the night.
Clarets went 3-1 up and you thought that was it but to their credit the brewers kept going and got another back to make it interesting. Burnley played keep ball but ****** it up as usual conceding a free just outside the box and from the kick Grant completely fluffed it dropping the ball at the feet of a Buxton player who promptly scored.
The clarets scored 2 in the opening 5 mins of extra time and added a 3 rd just before the break. The 2nd period was just a matter of it we would score anymore as Buxton ran out steam.
Attendance was shocking and you have to ask why the clarets didn't offer some reductions for this game. For most of the night we treated it as a training session

Paterson out for 3 months with same injury that kept him out for most of last season. We had the chance to sell him to Pompey for £2.35m. With hindsight it would have been a good bit of business as you to question if Pato will ever make the grade again.

Fox gone to Southampton for a fee of between £1m and £1.8m depending on which paper you read. Soton also offered £5m for Jay Rod.

No great loss in Fox IMO a left back who rarely passed the ball forward and rarely stepped over the 1/2 way line. And was consistently caught out of position as he drifted to close to the centre backs.

Jay on the other hand would be a huge loss especially as Pato is out for at least 3 months and Austin has yet to prove he can score goals at this level

Clarets get home tie against Lawrie Sanchez's Barnet in the Carling Cup. Not a great draw but at least it's at home and we have a real chance of making it to Rnd 3

Another inept display going down 2-0 to a team that will struggle as much as us. I guess it's what to expect when you sell off your best players and replace them with lower league cattle.
We've signed Ing from Bournemouth and are now chasing some injured dude from WHUFC who can't make the team there.
I expect Jay Rod will be at Soton before the window closes in a £5m deal which is a nice little earner for the board but probably spells the end of our championship league status.
Oh the joy of Hartlepool away

just a quick update.

Clarke Carlisle (once named the Britains brainiest footballer  ) has been charged with dfrink driving
alex MacDonald has been up on charges of Breech of the Peace after an altercation in a bar whilst he was on loan at Inverness CT.

Clarets have confirmed the signing of Zavon Hines from West Ham. This prossibly means Rodriquez will be sold on to Soton now. the rumours around here have been gaining momentum all week.

Manager Howe's missus has had a baby. And he went to a chippy in the town for fish n chips, woopee do.

Ex claret Besart Bershia has joined Brisbane Roar on a one year deal. You could hardly call him an ex-claret. Signed for Burnley after his prominant display against an England U21 game played at turf Moor. Was promptly injured for a season before being shipped out on loan for 2 years. I think we saw him play 2 games as sub.

Clarets at home to Cardiff today, who will be hurting after getting turned over by Brighton. I am expecting another loss and the clarets sitting in the relegation zone.

Burnley 1-1 Cardiff

Clarets started like a steam train and after scoring inside 3 mins looked like they were just going to steamroll Cardiff. The game changed around the 20 min mark when Wallace was blatantly tripped inside the box when running in on goal. The clarets let this get to them, with Marney booked shortly after.

Cardiff are a shadow of the team they were last year and their tactic was to try and bully Burnley with some rough tackling resulting in 3 bookings and a host of off the ball stuff. Their only outlet was Earnshaw and they played the long hoof ball game. I can't actually remember them putting more than 3 or 4 passes together.

Cardiff will be the happier. They came to spoil and sneaked an equaliser

Clarets need to toughen up and not let those spoiling tactics put them of their game. Clearly the better footballing side nd that might stand them in good stead when we play the better footballing sides in the league.

Austin was good, hinze made a good impression andWallace looked hungry for the ball.
For Cardiff, Earnshaw is still a quality poacher and if they lose him they are ****. Conway is a complete tool

Carling Cup 2nd Round
Clarets 3-2 Barnet aet

Well it was a repeat of the 1st round. Clarets dominate for most of the game and take a 2 goal lead into the final 15 mins. Barnet get one back and the clarets withdraw to the edge of their own box.

We give away a free kick in the last minute of added time and they score to take the tie into extra time.

Elliots goal was a carbon copy of Utd's 2nd against Spurs but apart from that there wasn't much to get excited about.

New boy Hinse was terrible, Rodriquez played like he new he was on his way and Bikey(amodou) at least made the bench but wasn't used.

Still a lot of rumours flying around, especially concerning Jay who is expected to be joining Toon for £7m and Bikey who is off to Leicester. Bikey has some real issues and didn't turn up until 10 past 3 on Saturday, and apparently missed most of the pre-season training. If he is in fact off to the Foxes, then good luck to them.

Derby 1-2 Clarets

One positive that came out of this game is Charlie Austins 2 goals. I wasn't convinced he was Championship material when he first came to the club but it have to eat my words. Having watched him a couple of times we certainly goes about his business with gusto and knows where the goals are. Just have to hope he can stay injury free.

No Duff in the back four with Edgar filling the spot and he needs to keep his place when Duff is fit again. Duff is too slow and gets caught out of position. At least Edgar is a big unit and is pretty quick. He just lacks a bit of experience which he can only get with some more 1st team game time.

As for the win and Derby. We need to follow this win up by beating 'Boro next or it means nothing. It's hard to tell whether we have turned the corner as a win over Derby is a bit misleading. No disrespect to Derby at all, it just seems we are their bogey side being unbeaten in the last 6, winning 4 of them.

Deadline Day

Stanislas signs for the Clarets on a 3 year deal. No sign of Shotton though.

On the flip side Elloitt moves to Birmingham for an undisclosed fee. Not bad business for the clarets at any price. Elliott was our £60m man scoring the winner at wembley. That year he was easily the best right wing in the division but since then he has been off the boil and age has slowed him down.
Good luck to him

Equally no news regarding Jay Rod .........yet!

I feel dirrrrty, but Junior was decent in patches for the Spam. Not sure why they'd offload him?

Good pick up by the Clarets

Clarets 0-2 'Boro

Out tackled, out run, out played, out coached and out gunned. It was men against boys. We were pathetic and had 1 single shot all day.

Stanislas and Hinze came on half was through the 2nd half and lifted things a bit but honestly it is going to be a long cold winter.

The plus points, the minted lamb shanks were delicious :(

Peterborough 2-1 Burnley

Another defeat. Another abject display. Defence is a shambles with Edgar the main culprit. Too slow to react, too slow in pace, we made Posh look good.

Great 25 yarder by Treacy but that was the only highlight. McCann is no captain that's for sure and the responsibility is affecting his game. No leadership on the park and our shape goes to shit within 5 mins.

5 points from 6 games and with such a week squad you can't see the clarets getting out of this mess
MK Dons next up in the CC will just pour more misery on us.
Embarrassing considering 2 seasons ago we were EPL

Carling Cup
Clarets 2-1 MK Dons

Bikey with a Rooney like scissor kick 5 mins from time saved our blushes after Mk had taken a 4 minute lead.
MK Dons looked more dangerous and played the better football all night. Great free kick from Trippier for the equaliser lifted the clarets but we definitely rode our luck.
Happy to get through and look forward to Aldershot at home in the next round. Few absentees tonight including captain McCann. Charlie Austin, Mighty Hounds and Ben Mee who picked up an injury.
