Disappointed to lose after leading so late in the game but at least we beat them in the League.

You will play your full strength side and pummel them.
Think Arsene will want some silverware to appease the fans and the two domestic cups are your best chance

wenger wont play full strength sides in carling, only if we get past this round he does, like the FA cup, im sure fergie is the same, for the first few rounds then it is still a weakened team...

I just think the heat is on Wenger to bring home some silverware. I realistically cant see them winning the league or CL so the domestic cups offer your best hope.
If United were no chance in the league im sure Fergie would field a stronger side but thankfully we have been in with a chance of winning the league most years but the day may come where we are not as good and the league cup will become important. At the moment it is way down the list for us

Whether or not we are in with a chance for the epl or cl , the league cup is way down the list for us...

Fa cup maybe , league cup has always been on the bottom for us year in year out.

Yes, not a huge fan of the league cup but it has its benefits, where else can you blood kids against decent players infront of 50,000 fans. The only thing that annoys me is when Fergie plays the kids all year in it and then we make the final and he loads it up with the guns. Would much rather our kids experience Wembley

Quarter Finals

11 Dec Norwich City v Aston Villa - Carrow Road, Norwich
11 Dec Bradford City v Arsenal - Valley Parade, Bradford
12 Dec Swansea City v Middlesbrough - Liberty Stadium, Swansea
19 Dec Leeds United v Chelsea - Elland Road - Leeds (game is a week later as Chelsea will be in Japan for the club world cup)
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Yeah I think the time has almost come to end the league cup. It's lost any sort of value since it doesn't count for European spots.

Personally I'm very happy when the hammers play the kids and then get knocked out

well it does it gets you a europa league spot.

personal i think the europa league winner should get a champions league spot....then watch everyone try as alot of teams would never qualify for the champions league and knock on effects is cup comps around europe all become meaning full cause for example...say bradford win this seasons league cup...they would qualify for the europa league (something they wouldnt normal do) but instead of just being in the europa league, if they win it they would qualify for the champions league. (if that is to unrealistic replace that with norwich, villa, swansea)

Has some merit but reckon that you will just end up another minnow in the CL.
The big guns are still not going to try in the Europa because they know they will make CL anyway

Acutally I think only the "top 4" wont try cause usally they know they will qualify but i'd say tottenham, everton, liverpool would all try if they know they would make cl by winning it (just talking england here)

Its a hard one, no doubt some of the clubs would try but because Europa is played later in the week it impacts quite significantly on the weekends EPL fixtures thats why a lot of the bigger clubs rest players for the Europa. The only clubs that would try would be the ones with no hope of finishing top 4.
We are seeing Spurs and Newcastle fielding second string sides now because they believe they can finish Top 4 and the 3 points on the weekend are more important than playing in some Eastern European backwater.

Agreed with that, surley there should be some rule that if you play thursday the earliest you can play is sunday...that would also help and teams would try cause that is just like wednesday/saturday for the cl teams

Agreed, quite often you cant get flights out of some of the Eastern European countries until the next day so they dont get back to the UK until Friday arvo and then are scheduled for a Saturday EPL fixture
