Absolutely agree CP DA. Souldn't be allowed to have 'Footballer' as has job title. Between him and J Cole, definitely giving Chelski, EPL and football in general a bad name.

CCC Latest 27th April

Postby johntheclaret » Sat Apr 28, 2007 6:14 am

Sunderland 1 - 1 Clarets.
Sunderland awared the softest, dodgiest penalty I have ever seen anywhere. 45,000 crowd definitely swayed the ref. Not saying this because I'm a Burnley fan, it really was a joke. Anyway, the Beast pulled off a great save and justice was done.
At the other end Burnley awarded a penalty. Also a bit dodgy, not like the joke at the other end mind (maybe the ref was feeling guilty). Andy Gray put it away 1 - 1.
All the cats for 25 mins then all clarets for last 20.
Half Time Cats 1 - 1 Clarets

Revised

55 mins gone

Clarets went 2 - 1 up after scorcher of a goal from Elliot. You just gotta se this one.

Now Sunderland 2 - 2 Clarets. Yet again p1ss poor ref gives the Cats a soft penalty. Worried now every time a Mackem goes down in the box. 45,000 scream penalty and the ref duly obliges

Revised

Sunderland 3 - 2 Clarets. 81 mins gone. come on you Clarets

Revised

Final Score Sunderland 3 - 6 Burnley

Just kidding real final score Sunderland 3 - 2 Burnley. Great game of football. Great advert for the CCC. This is the 2nd game inside a week that the clarets have palyed both 3 -2. both on the telly. beat WBA on monday night (in case anyone missed my update  and tonigh lost to the Cats.

Gretna have scored in the 90th minute and will get promotion to the SPL. Considering only 5 years ago they were a non league side and I know the Scottish league is pretty shallow, that is still a hell of an achievement

Spurs 3-2. Tried to lose. Would like to watch a replay (watching commentary via a Spurs forum).

Apparentlt Berbatov's bicycle goal was amazing!

Liverpool playing their u12's side? Don't blame them with CL coming up.

That's about 5 or 6 losses in a row now, what a collapse.

Results Update Sunday 29th April

Postby johntheclaret » Mon Apr 30, 2007 6:45 am

CCC

Palace 2 - 0 Derby

Defeat leaves Rams confined to the playoff lottery as Sunderland and Birmingham win promotion to the EPL.

A big big pat on the back must go to Roy Keane. Sunderland botton of CCC when he took over. He has quietly gotten on with the job. He soaks up the pressure for his players and I haven't heard / read a single news item about his fabled temper.

He was very complimentary to the Clarets in the after match interview the other night, praising the way Burnley played and pushed Sunderland right to the wire, despite the fact that the clarets have nothing to play for. He has certainly matured over the last couple of years.

Bruce had to win promotion or he would have been out at Birmingham. They of course had the benefit of the £10m parachute payment. This parachute payment has effectively created a second tier EPL. and almost guarantees at least one or two relegated clubs will return the following year.

Would like to say congrats to Steve Bruce and Birmingham City, however I don't feel his achievement (with his extra £10m pocket money), compares to that of Keane.

Here's something for ya:

http://www.lukewhostalking.co.uk/2007/04/take_that_tactics_board.html

Did you know that Roy Keane knows a few karate moves? It's true, apparently when he isn't happy with the way his players have performed he does the whole ninja thing and kicks the ink out of the tactics board! Whatever happened to the good old days of plate throwing eh?!

Keane's temper tantrum was revealed by Sunderland's goalkeeper Darren Ward and if you aren't surprised by Keane's impression of the Karate Kid you will probably be surprised by the fact he has only done it once since he became manager.

That, though, is of little comfort to the unfortunate tactics board which has never been seen again after Keane's vicious assault!

Given Sunderland’s magnificent form since the turn of the year, Keane appears to have forgotten how to lose his cool because even the team talk after the defeat and poor performance at Colchester last week was restrained.

But that is just a sign of his natural ability to lead and inspire. Sunderland’s players have not let him down for a long time and one defeat, no matter how disappointing, does not suddenly make them bad players intent on discarding their manager’s instructions.

Promotion remains in Sunderland’s own hands and two wins against Burnley and Luton will ensure their place in the Premiership next season. It is not the time to rant and rave, it’s the time to comfort and encourage, to give the players the belief they need to complete the job they started the moment Keane took charge.

There was something else impressive about Keane’s approach today as well. How often do we see a manager blaming his players for a defeat, directly or indirectly? And compare that to how often you hear a manager admit he has made a mistake?

Admitting mistakes, so the old school seem to believe, is a sign of weakness. Keane, though, disagrees. Admitting a mistake can command respect, because when you admit your own, you are better qualified to point out the mistakes of others. How refreshing don’t you think?

Keane is not only willing to protect his players with clever sound bites, hard luck stories and positive public comments about effort and commitment, he is also willing to take the blame when things go wrong.

He did just that at Colchester for failing to tell his players to play for a point when they equalised midway through the second half. Instead, Sunderland continued to attack and were caught on the counter attack by Colchester in the closing stages.

It would be easy to moan about poor defending, but Keane does not let himself off the hook so easily. If only a few other high-profile managers was so magnanimous.

On the whole, pretty good post that DW. Considering how far away are from the action and all the news snippets that don't make the mainstream tabliods etc.

Re Promotion for Sunderland. They are already up mate. Derby's loss at Palace has guaranteed both Birmingham and Sunderalnd promotion no matter what happens now. Cats and Brum just fighting it out for the title now.

PS.. CL latest Liverpool 1 - 0 Chelski. agg 1 - 1
