If Ledley King was this good, surely he would be recieving plenty of offers from top European Clubs

Better and better.

King has 2 dodgy knees remember. He can only play 1 game a week and sometimes only 1 a fortnight. He has pain killing injections before every game and never trains. NEVER trains!

It shows what a talented athlete his is that he can go without training, sometimes not play for a month, then come in and dominate a game and look like he's at the peak of his powers.

The man is a marvel. He's Spurs best and most important player and has been for as long as I remember. He is rated by many as in Spurs top 10 of all time - that's how good he is.

Plus, IMO, he'll never leave. He was born in Bow, London, grew up a Spurs fan, came through our academy and loves the club.

The other thing I missed out of there, is that Ledley has a joint top earner clause in his contract, so he will always be the equal highest paid player at the club. So on between 60-70k quid per week for a player that can only play once a week at best is a huuuuuge investment. It's like playing a John Terry 120k because Ledley will only play half the games JT does.

So the club is fairly loyal to him and he returns the favour by dominating in defence?

Yep. He's a favourite son. Everyone loves him and IMO, he deserves every penny.

The most amazing thing is his ability to drink. He gets so blind that he cant stand - I shit you not there are a LOT of pics of him and Alan Hutton holding each other up, then fronts a couple of days later and dominates again. Unbelievable.

No question King has been a star ... Would probably feature in an EPL all-star team since the competitions inception he's been that good - DA's on the money with him.

Not often someone says I'm right :-bd

Thiery Henry says Ledley is the toughest opponent he's ever faced. Still score plenty of goals against him  .

yeah heard that henry said that. But on the topic of Thierry has anyone heard whats happened since the so called bust up between him and his wife. Funny as i havent heard much of since is departure to Barca. Same as other players that go great in England, but then find it hard in the other leagues. Look at Micheal Owen. Maybe he is re thinking his move to newcastle and maybe he should have returned to LFC when had the chance

Henry's been doing pretty well this season I think ... I didn't think Owen did too bad at Real either, scored in something like 9 consecutive games IIRC.

He wanted to return to Liverpool but we wouldn't pay the transfer fee, then moved to Newcastle with an out clause apprently hoping to move to a bigger club, but it's questionable now whether anyone would take him after he hasn't been able to disprove the injury-prone theory.

Yeah would have to be I think mate, maybe even the other side of 30 ... Best hope for him is a club like Liverpool pick him up on a free at some stage (I think he's out of contract soon, maybe the summer?) - That's obviously if he wants to continue in England and with one of the bigger clubs.

Otherwise he could always follow Becks over to the US of A.

His contract will say he can leave when the Geordies are relegated, so Liverpool could pick him up for peanuts.

Or he could follow his old mate Robbie Fowler down under to the great Reds of Australia! ;)

would have loved Owen to be at Arsenal when Henry was there, remember we were playing LFC at highbury and LFC was 2-1 up at half time, and it was thanks to a fantastic goal from Owen. But we still won because Henry produced and brilliant run to score aswell. Think he will be a great pick up for any team

Owen is still a good finisher but he is a cripple down and also suffering from some kind of mental breakdown if he thinks he isn't injury prone.

He will be ok for a midtable side at best I'd say. Don't forget that he still rates himself extremely highly so will command top dollar which he is not worth.

IIRC he had a pretty good FA Cup final one year, can't remember when or against who, but think he might have found the net ;)

And here lies the problem. The Geordies could afford his 120k per week wages bill. West Ham might have been silly enough to take it on before Iceland collapsed.

IMO, City may have a look, but they'd be the only ones who would pay his wages demands.

Mr Owen may be forced to take a pay cut.

yeah was against us in the 1999/2000 final as same year when LFC did the treble. FA, League UEFA cup. Was celebrating that day mid 80th minute then OWen decided he would score 2 goals. Cried myself to sleep that night ;)

DA have you seen King has withdrawn from the England squad due to his 'chronic knee injury' and is now considering his international future??

Yeah! Sanity prevailed! Capello has proved he's a bit of a mug with this selection. Pls he's picked Upson ahead of Woodgate FFS. I'm happy about both events though really - less chance of injury for Spurs players!

If Ledley can train solidly every session with the rest of the lads and play every game, then for sure, recall him to England, but WTF is going on when they pick a player who has to wait until virtually kick off each week to see if he can make it through a game.

IMO, Ledley needs to retir from international football for now at least, get himself 100%, then if all goes well, consider stepping back up to the plate at Wembley.
